GENUINE SALVATION - BIBLE STUDY
(Be blessed as you study!)

Mathew 7:21, “ “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”

I was talking with a man on phone one day and in asked him if he was born again. He said, “Yes and who isn’t?” He sounded like being born again is the common thing everybody is doing this day, and especially in a Christian predominant region like ours, who will not mind to be born again and continue his life as he has been living and begin to enjoy prosperity and blessing of God? That is the type of salvation many people have today, but that is the kind of salvation these modern Pentecostal preachers are preaching. But that is not a genuine salvation.
Today, many people believe you are saved and born again as long as you are going to church, or because you answered an alter call in the church, or because you have joined the workers in your church. Many think they are better and matured Christians because they have gone through several training and programs in their churches, because they have been ordained, because they are not involved in God’s work, because they are giving to God’s works, because they are now speaking in tongues or doing more prayers and fasting. Some think they are saved because they have been attending Pentecostal Gospel Church. And some may believe they are born again because they pay tithe and offering and give good amount of money to the church and their pastors. You may also feel you are saved just because you read bible and moved during the praise and worship.

Salvation is none of the above. Many people who claim to be saved this day are into delusion of grandeur. Today every body who claims to be Christian is born again, and you see them right in old sinful lifestyle. Salvation is not religious activities. Satan is deceiving many people with wrong notions of being saved, he does not want them to realize their false salvation until it is too late.

Do you think you have saved? What is the evidence? Why not check it out if you have not been caring about false salvation. You can check it yourself and be sure of your profession before it gets too late. Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord, “shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my father in heaven. “ That means that not everyone who claim to be saved are really, and you know Jesus is not respecter of any man. So it would do you more good if you check proof your claim of salvation for some few minutes in the word of God.

Evidence
For us to be certain we have something real and original, then we must have the evidence. There is evidence of salvation in the Bible that settles every doubt and false claim. This evidence proves if you are truly saved, and the good thing is that it does not condemn you if you are not but it guides how to be genuinely saved. The evidence of salvation is not something made by a particular church or pastor; it is the standard of the Savior Himself clearly stated in the bible.

The Lord says in that same verse, “Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord, “shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my father in heaven. “Here the only evidence of salvation is doing the will of God! Every other evidence is insufficient. “Not everyone who says” What we say is not what matter; we can confess Jesus as our Savior, we may come out for alter call, we may speak in tongues, we may even preach to other people, but all that we say do not matter as much as what we do. And do you know that all we do don’t the matter except one doing, which is doing the will of God.

You may do many wonderful things for God, but if you don’t do His will, He is not reckoning with you. You may do many works of ministry as worker in the church but if you don’t do His will, all your other works are baseless.

You may do signs and wonders in Jesus name, but if you are not doing His will right in your life, he doesn’t know you. You wonder how is it possible that doing wonders and miracles, preaching and speaking in tongues are not enough evidence of salvation. Jesus said they are not, they are not as important to Him as doing His will. He said, “many will say to me in that day, “Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name, cast out demons in your name, and done many wonders in your name? “And then I will declare to them, “I never knew you: depart from me, you who practice lawlessness! “

Jesus said “many” you know when Jesus says many He means many, that may be majority. And He said all that are not evidence of genuine salvation; that you calls Him Lord; that you go to church, that you receive blessing and miracle from Jesus are not an evidence that you are saved, he said those who perform the miracles cant use that as an evidence, but those who do the will of His father. So, do you want to be among the many with insufficient claims or the few that do His will?

Doing the will of God!
The only evidence of a genuine salvation and eternal life is doing the will of God. As you can see it is not going to church or working wonders, it is not speaking in tongues, but doing the will of God. Doing the will of God is not something natural, is not something you can pretend to do. By nature you are opt to doing your will and sinful desires. It’s only when you are truly saved that you can do the will of God. It takes a genuine salvation for you to be doing the will of God, it takes genuine salvation for you to subdue your own will and doing God’s will.

So, having known that the will of God is only the evidence and barometer of genuine salvation then what is doing the will of God? Doing the will of God means to abandon your old sinful lifestyle and to abide in the word of God. That implies you must abandon something and abide in new thing. That is doing the will of God. Your old sinful life is controlled by Satan and new life is in Jesus; and there can’t be two masters in a single life. Its either you continue in your usual old life and forget about God’s will or you abandon, forsake those sins and abide in a new life in Jesus.

The bible says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. “ 2 Cor 5:17. For you to abide, be in Christ genuinely, old things must first pass away. It means for you to do the will of God, you must first do away with yourself. So can you see that it is more than saying “Lord, Lord,” Can you see that it is more than going to church or for alter call and mere confessing? Can you see that it is easier than speaking in tongues? It’s simply abandoning your sinful life and abiding in Jesus at the expense of Jesus’ grace and power.
Continuity
There was a time when Jesus was preaching in the temple; many believed him as their Savior. But Jesus knew that is not all about genuine salvation is not everything involves in doing the will of God. So He told them in John 8:31, “then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “if you abide in my word, you are my disciples indeed. “Do you believe Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Have you confessed and forsaken your sins and accepted Jesus into your heart? That is not all, to confirm your salvation and membership in the kingdom of God; you must abandon your old lifestyle and abide in Jesus.

Doing the will of God is forsaking your old sinful life, sinful friends, sinful job, sinful dressing, and sinful claims and starting a new life in Jesus. It is not about how bad you have been or how much you look decent. It is about new life in Jesus. The evidence of a genuine salvation is that “if anyone”, any one you may be or anyone you claim to be in church or outside the church. If anyone is in Christ, he or she is a new creation, and old things have passed away and all things have become new. “All things, your words and deeds, your confession and your ways of life, your behavior, your disposition, your heart, your soul and spirit, all things have become new! That is the evidence of genuine salvation. Anything less than this is self deception and will lead to eternal disappointment.

Repentance is the Key
Have your wondered why you have answered several calls and yet you have not got the genuine salvation? Do you wonder why you have confessed your sins over and over and you find yourself keep reverting back into the same old life? Do you wonder many people confess Jesus as Saviour and still continue in their old sinful habit? It is simply because no repentance; Confession without repentance is empty. You find yourself relapsing in to your sin because you only confess those sins but you didn’t repent Genuine Salvation is not all about confessing and claiming, but firstly repentance and then confession is made.

Repentance is the key to genuine salvation and new life in Jesus, but modern preachers today have ignore their. They manifest the indecent haste process of confession and claim which is unbiblical. That is the reason you see counterfeit born again Christians today whose confession do not square with their ways of lives. Because there is an omission of repentance. The first message delivered in the New Testament by John the Baptist is on repentance. In Matthew 3:3, John started his ministry in wilderness of Judea saying, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is of hand; Jesus Christ began His ministry with the message of repentance in Matthew 4:17,From that time Jesus began to preach and is say ,”Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand. The First sermon of the Apostles centered on repentance, in Acts 2:38, “ Then Peter said to them, Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ” And Apostle Paul said in Acts 17:30, “ Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now command all men everywhere to repent.

Many pastors and preaches in their churches, on TV and Radio, and in their books tell you to just confess and claim, saying some words after them and, hey pesto, you are saved! That is end time error, and you see big preachers falling into this erroneous line. They are oversimplifying the gospel, cheap but fake gospel of salvation is the gospel that omits repentance and jump into confession. They want to make salvation simple and sweet, without bothering or scaring people about forsaking their sins. But there is no essence of confessing sin if no readiness to forsake.

Jesus didn’t begin His preaching with confessing; when the people asked the Apostle what to do to be saved, Peter didn’t say, confess and claim” but he said, “Repent”. Repentance is the first step to genuine salvation and new life in Jesus. To repent is for you to realize your sins as sins, to be sorrowful for your sins and ready to forsake those sins. Then you move forward to confess then. If you just make a casual confession without a sincere deep sorrow for your sins and readiness to forsake them, you are not going to arrive at a genuine result of salvation. If you just confess your sin without readiness to forsake them, then you are going to have a sorry case. You must be sorry for your sins and ready to forsake them, without these your confession is superficial. The Bible says, “He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confess and forsakes them will have mercy.” Proverbs 28:13.

So at this point, the right question is, “since you have been confessing those sins, have you truly repented? “ Since you have been claiming Jesus as your Lord, Lord, have you abandoned your old sinful life and start a new life in Jesus? Since you have been speaking in tongues, working in church, casting out demons and doing many wonders, are you abiding in the word of God and pleasing Him till date? You can check your claim right now and take the due process into genuine salvation before you are doomed at the gate of Heaven. Repent from your sins, whatever sins, small or great, confess them and start a new life in Jesus.

Jesus says in Matthew 7:21, “Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord’. Shall enter the Kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” The action word there, “does” is not a past tense. If you have done the will of God in past and you are not doing it now is as the same as those that never done it. “Does” is personal and present, we must personally continuing doing the will of God until we get to heaven. it is continuous doing.

Many will say to Jesus on the day of judgment, “Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name, cast out demons in your name, done many wonders in your name?” These many people might have started well doing the will of God at the Beginning and derailed into sin and worldly indulgence, but because those gifts didn’t cease, because they kept speaking in tongues , doing wonders and the words of knowledge, since the anointing and gifts of wisdom God poured them continue, they feel relaxed that everything is fine, until they were dozed with the four words from Jesus, “ I never knew you” Because you are still going to Church and working, because you still speak in tongues and rescue blessing from God; because God delivers you and protects you, because you are doing many signs and wonders in Jesus name, that is not an evidence that you are still in Him , but those who are doing His will.

Your passport to heaven is your repentance and confession, and your visa is you abiding in the will and word of Jesus through new life.

“The Jesus said to those who believed Him, “if you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.” John 8:31
