Yorubas often boast about their ancient civilizations and how they have developed Ibadan into a city when other ethnicities were still swinging on trees but they have failed to tell us were they were living before the white man step foot into Africa and before the introduction of modern day European styled buildings came into Nigeria, by the British colonialist.

The Igbos on the other hand lived in their own indigenous architectural homes called (Obi) huts with thatched roofs and rounded corners and in some case square corners this houses were sometimes decorated with the insibidi writing and usually had gardens and farms surrounding them even the British gave credence to these fact when the came into Igboland.

The first story building in Nigeria was built in the year 1845 in Badagry and that saw the birth of modern day houses in Nigeria, the first story building in Ibadan was built 10 years later in the year 1855 this goes to show that Ibadan is not as old as we are made to believe by Yoruba revisionist whom have said that their forefathers and ancestors, built these house before the white man step foot in Nigeria.

The white man entered yorubaland several times and centuries before the birth and introduction of the first story building in Nigeria, this clearly shows that the Yorubas were not living in civilization before and hundred years after the white man first step foot in Yorubaland. Only for this to change with the advent and introduction of the first story building in Badagry and Nigeria.

This gives credence to the fact that the Yorubas were indeed the tribe swinging on trees and living under rocks when the White men entered Nigeria even the account of the British in yorubaland was one that described them as uncultured, barbaric and savages in nature, why would the British describe them with such words if not for, non civilization, cannibalism, ritual killings, and backwardness in their domain.

The rustic zinc roofing sheets is also clear evidence that Ibadan is modern day civilization and not as old as claimed by Yoruba revisionist, the zinc roofing sheets is advent with the introduction of the first story building in Nigeria. Note that some yoruba clans still live under rocks in parts of Ondo state, in Ogun state, old woman living in Olumo rock narrates stories of how the natives use to live under those rocks.

Yoruba revisionist in the house please explain.

Attached is Picture of the first story building in Ibadan

How will the new generation learn history when it has been removed from our school curriculum and calendars. The only history the see today is the falsehood now being promoted by the yoruba media as history, so it is left for historians like me and students of history to give clear undiluted accounts of truth behind Nigeria's history.

Secondly at least we now agree on something which is that Ibadan is not a old city and that it is only as old as the amalgamation of Nigeria and the first story building in Ibadan.

Ipob youths come and see another confession from an Afonja who now agrees that Ibadan is a modern day settlement with brown roofs that have not been changed for 100 years or renovated. grin

Thank you for your Sincerity we need more afonjas like you and thugcheetah grin

Dude stop wasting valuable time in displaying your hate against Yoruba. There has been Yoruba thousands of years before you were born, Yoruba sons and daughters are doing spectacularly well everywhere in the world today, Yoruba is setting pace for other tribes to follow in Nigeria, and there will be Yoruba thousands of years after you have gone.

Channel your energy towards something that will benefit you and people around you.

Wow, this thread have achieved the aim for which it was created.

1. To prove that Ibadan is not as old as being portrayed by Yoruba revisionist.
2. To prove that Yorubas lived in farms, bushes, trees, under rocks and mud houses before the coming of the white man.
3. To prove that Yorubas never set the pace of development in Nigeria, even after having early contacts with the whites.
4. To prove that Yorubas have long been overtaken in terms of development, Education, civilization, industrialization etc.
All this aims have been achieved on this thread with even Yorubas supporting my claims and providing the needed evidence.

Wow interesting, Mods you can now move this thread to front page please.

OP, I will like to ask what exactly you are doing to get Nnamdi Kanu out from the detention he is because I know of prominent Yoruba persons making moves in words and action, the likes of FFK and Fayose.

Yet you come online, conspisciously hiding behind the front of a laptop to spew chiit about Yorubas as if they are the problems to your existence.

The Hausa/Fulanis who want to die in power at all cost and play divide and rule are not your problems.

my brother I am not doing any thing to get NK out of cell, but prominent Igbo that matter and those in power are doing what they can just today Peter Obi made a statement likewise Rochas Okorocha so I think does concerned are doing what they can.

The Yorubas are my friends and brothers I have nothing against them in real life but my brother on Nairaland they are something else. But still one love. Cheers.

You keep jumping from one point to another like a chicken that has its neck cut off

You challenged Yorubas to provide evidence of where we were living before white people came. I provided you with an evidence that even states that Yorubas are the most talented and intelligent of all tribes in Nigeria but just like I expected, you started rambling about something else. Before I slap you with evidences to disprove what you are using your second mouth to say, I will like to point out that I didn't know you have a 2nd moniker. You must be spending a lot of man hours masturbating and fantasizing to Yoruba rich heritage, history, culture and achievements. In honesty, tell me how many monikers you have on Nairaland.

Now to disprove your wrong assertions

1. To prove that Ibadan is not as old as being portrayed by Yoruba revisionist

No Yoruba ever told you Ibadan is very old. It is all what is playing in you head. Every Yoruba historian knows Ibadan was founded by Lagelu in early 1800s. It was used as a war camp by warriors from Old Oyo, Ife and Ijebu. Ibadan name was derived from Eba odan which means it was surrounded by hills just like Rome. By the time the white explored the Yoruba hinterland in the mid 1800s, Ibadan has transformed into a metropolis so much so that it was the most populous city in Nigeria at that time.

2. To prove that Yorubas lived in farms, bushes, trees, under rocks and mud houses before the coming of the white man

I can't help but laugh at this your ignorant comment. To answer this your lie, I will quote a statement from Leo Frobenius about Ile Ife. I'm 100% sure you don't know who Leo was. Just fyi, Leo Frobenius was an ethnologist and archaeologist and a major figure in German ethnography. After he discovered the level of civilization and development in Ile ife he couldn't believe there could be a region in sub saharan Africa with such heritage, artistry and organization that he called Ile Ife the lost Atlantis. Below is an excerpt from Leo findings

A hundred years ago when German explorer Leo Frobenius visited West Africa and came across some sculpted bronze heads and terracotta figures, he was sure he had discovered remains of the mythical lost city of Atlantis.
He refused to believe that the sophisticated and ornately carved bronze sculptures were made in Africa.
In his book, Voice of Africa, Frobenius wrote: "Before us stood a head of marvellous beauty, wonderfully cast in antique bronze, true to the life, incrusted with a patina of glorious dark green. This was, in very deed, the Olokun, Atlantic Africa's Poseidon."
"I was moved to silent melancholy at the thought that this assembly of degenerate and feeble-minded posterity should be the legitimate guardians of so much loveliness," he added.
Frobenius was referring to the people who lived in the Kingdom of Ife and whose artists, in fact, created the sculptures over the course of some four centuries. Leading art experts believe they are among the most aesthetically striking and technically sophisticated in the world.
The Ife kingdom was believed to have flourished from the 12th to the 15th centuries in the lush forests of the lower Niger in West Africa in what is today the south western region of Nigeria.

3. To prove that Yorubas never set the pace of development in Nigeria, even after having early contacts with the whites.

This is just another expression of bile and hatred from you. You said Yorubas never set the pace of development in Nigeria but you couldn't provide an evidence to show the other tribe that did. Just to let you know, when it comes to setting pace for almost all fields and facet of life, Yoruba set the pace, still setting the pace and continue setting the pace. Is it in Medical field, Literature, Music, Architecture, Engineering, Education, philosophy, Religion etc. Just name the field and see a Yoruba man or woman being the first person or one of the first set of people to have achieved the milestone

4. To prove that Yorubas have long been overtaken in terms of development, Education, civilization, industrialization etc.

Just another bile filled comment from an hater. At this point, I'm not even surprised at all. You say Yoruba has been overtaken in terms of development, education and civilization. Please show everyone with evidence that there is a tribe that is doing better than Yoruba to back up your wrong assertion. See the mistake most of you Yoruba haters do is that you see Agberos and Omo onile and assume that Yoruba youth are not different from others, but the fact remains that for every Agbero you see, there are more than 5 Yoruba young men or women living in developed countries like US, Canada, UK, Australia etc. As a matter of fact, and this is not exaggeration, If you go to these developed countries, out of 10 Nigerians you see, 6 are Yorubas, the remaining 4 are other tribes. Guess what they are doing? Working professionally, studying for post graduate, owning a business etc. So I'm wondering where you got your myopic assertion that Yoruba has been overtaken in those areas. When it comes Industrialization, apart from Lagos which is a Yoruba state, the 2nd most industrialized state in Nigeria by a wide margin to the 3rd is Ogun state. If you wanna know I will provide you with evidences to back it up.

Like I said earlier, stop wasting your time in giving yourself headache about Yoruba heritage, history, achievements and success. There is absolute nothing you can do about it.
