I am a Christian by religion and I love God. However, I think we need to reevaluate the kind of Christianity we practice in Nigeria. Popular OAP Freeze, has been airing his opinions about tithe and it has left a lot of people divided. Yes, I believe a lot of pastors these days, are just after the money but then, it isn't enough to stop me from paying tithes cos that is a personal matter between me and God.

However, I find it disgusting that a so called "man of God" will curse someone and say the person will die within 24 months for preaching against tithing. When Jesus called the 12 disciples, He said "come onto me, and I will make you fishers of men", not fishers of tithes. When Apostle Paul was leaving, he admonished the disciples to preach the gospel of Christ steadfastly and didn't hammer on them making sure that they collect tithes and offering. Apart from the book of Malachi, I'm not sure if I can remember any other book of the Bible that duelled much on tithing. Even in the book of Malachi, it was addressed in a few verses. The Bible talked more about giving to the poor, from Genesis to revelations. I don't understand this current zeal and zest in Nigerian pastors to want to defend the issue of tithing at all cost. The holy book tells us that God who has given a vision, would definitely make a provision. If a pastor claims he is called of God, irrespective of whether the members pay tithes or not, God will definitely order the footsteps of men to contribute to that work. Any pastor who curses a person for preaching against tithes because the person doesn't believe in it, nor understand the principles of tithing, is nothing but a rogue and a bloody criminal. That is not the gospel of Jesus Christ that he asked you to preach. You cannot fight for God. Allow God fight for himself. Pastors should focus on soul winning. There are lots of young men and women lost to prostitution and drugs out there. Go and bring them to Christ. Stop fighting over whether it is right to give tithe or not. Most of these modern day pastors are making Christianity a burden to most of us, and are making people backslide rather than win souls to Christ. If not that I grew up in the old deeper life bible church where holiness was all they taught us, I certainly would have grown up into a pagan cos the kind of Christianity these pastors are practicing today, is not encouraging.

Doctufos: Proverbs of Otem 2:5
5. He who pays tithe to a church pastor and expect reward is like a homo who sows bean seeds in the sea and expects it to germinate.
