du is masculine, de la feminine

sa/son are the possessive pronoun for his and her according to the gender of the thing in possession. e.g son ami and sa amie. i think there plural form is ses(not too sure) like ses enfants... his/her children it doesn't matter the subject of possession but the object in possession

i don't know what y in isolation means but all i know is... 'il y a' means
there is/is there?

des/de are much like 'of'
des... for plural, de... for singular but am not too sure cos of been thinking of how to put it in context but i can't figure any example for them so its not tested to be trusted

to be is etre but it is just mainly as a base word, it use is based on the subject it associate with[not the objects it address]

e.g je suis... i am
vous etes ... you are
nous sommes... we are
il est... he/she is[il can also mean it] e.t.c all this are the various uses of to be[etre] irregular verbs in verbs are somehow so they demand vast understanding.

the only parts of speech i know in french yet are noun pronoun and verb.
[thats why when you were asking questions on black, white and some adjectives i always don't know it. thats if you can still recall thou]
