Personally, I will buy Redmi Note 8...
Samsung A20s uses lower processor when compared to ordinary 32k Redmi 7A (according to GSMArena.com info).

The person who told you that is mad. I bought my Xiaomi Mi Max 2 from Noobody in late 2017 and even till today it has not had a scratch. It looks very new and nothing has broken. I get compliments all the time cos of the phone. Now, I want to get the Note 8 Pro, but cash is holding me back sad

You know what, go to GSMArena and compare the reviews of the two phones you want to buy. Another thing you should note is that if your Samsung breaks, replacement parts will cost you an arm, a leg and half your testicles. tongue

Samsung durable? Lolzzz.
I don't think so.. IPhone is far more durable than Samsung self.

All depends though. This is electronics.. They tend to fail us when it enters their head.

Do your research before you get influenced by one person using multiple monikers .

I will only ask and take advice here when its pushed to Front Page. Considering those from 100 likes and above. Never use what is not tested and trusted over a long period of time.

You should consider the factors

Availability of spare parts
Ease of Use
And Reliability

Note 8 pro man. Its a great phone. But if you want to compare it with a samsung phone in it caliber try a30s or a50s I'll prefer the a50s sha cos of the amoled screen.

So why do u want to buy note 8 pro...

I.don't get it, is the Mi Max not worth it any more

If the phone is OK why changing.

Pls I am not complaining that u want to upgrade its ur choice and nothing is wrong with that.

I am.only pointing it out because most people keep saying if u buy Tecno and infinix u have to buy another one to be up to date especially because of the lack of O.S. upgrade,

So if u a Redmi user is upgrading why den do people complain about Tecno and Infinix...

I want to change my phone cos it's like 2 years old. I want something new and exciting. The Redmi Note 8 pro has a quad camera on the back that can take a picture of a goat and make it look like a prince. That is not to be sneezed at and is part of its appeal.

More, it has a Mediatek Helios chipset that is optimised for gaming. I don't know about you, but I'm addicted to mobile games. I actually want to buy the Black Shark 2 Pro, but I don't think I can spend like 150k to 170k on a phone without looking like a fool.

Lastly, other reasons I want to upgrade is that the Redmi Note 8 pro looks more beautiful than even Beyonce in the nude. I get a lot of attention with my Mi Max 2. Now, imagine me with a Redmi Note 8 pro. I'm sure the sight of it will cause riots in my neighborhood wink

Also, my Mi Max 2 has 64GB of ROM, with around 2GB of this usable. I can't use an SD card without removing one of the two SIM cards or using a SIM extender. So, my intent is to get the Redmi Note 8 pro with 8GB of RAM and 128GB ROM and never have to worry about memory capacity for a few years.

Hope I answered your questions well.

Incidentally, I'm sure you know nothing about Xiaomi. If you did, you would know that all their devices are supported by very regular software updates. Go to the Xiaomi page on Nairaland and see for yourself if you don't believe me.

Thank u so much for that awesome, reply,

I.said awesome because u didn't attack any brand in ur post even Samsung A20s.... I love the fact u also considered cost,

Yes I never used Redmi phones before and I am aiming note 8....

Why I ask the question is most Redmi users always attack d like of Tecno and infinix and they forget that cost and budget is also involved while making choice...

The likes of hybrid sim is turn off to me that's y I didn't purchase Note 7.

So in other words I wish all Xiaomi users will allow Tecno and Infinix users enjoy der phone, not every one is tech gig not everyone likes gaming...

Pls tell dem, in the Redmi thread all I see is complain and solutions I think that thread is hot because Redmi users are doing every thing within der power to make d phone relevant on Nairaland....

I am making choice between Samsung galaxy A30 or Redmi note 8...

Don't mind my English though

Don't mind my English though

Your English is great. We all can't be professors. I guess you are thinking that Xiaomi phones are very expensive. Actually there are cheap ones of high quality that beats anything brands like Tecno can put out.

Please go to the GSMArena page and have a look at all the Xiaomi and Redmi phones there. You will see cheap ones released years ago that are superior to most Tecno phones released this year.

More, some Xiaomi phones support 2 SIM cards and a separate space for SD card. So you are covered if you can't do without an SD card. Even the Redmi Note 8 pro has an Indian variant that supports 2 SIM cards and an SD card simultaneously. Unfortunately it is confined to the Indian market.

The issue here is not that Xiaomi and Redmi users are hyping the brand, but that it presents exceptional value for money and is stronger than anything else on the market. Take for example, my bro bought my mom an Oppo phone last month for 50 something thousand. I forgot the exact brand. The phone is colored purple and looks great. And yet, when my mom learned I wanted to sell my Mi Max 2 and get a Redmi Note 8 pro she started begging me to gift her my Mi Max 2 smiley

The Redmi Note 8 you want to buy is a good choice, and it's superior to the Samsung in my opinion. Go to AliExpress and you will see it's selling for around 50 something thousand.

Next week is 11.11, which means heavy discounts. So I would recommend that you find an extra 10 thousand and add it to what you have to buy the Redmi Note 8 pro from reputed sellers on Nairaland. It makes better sense.

You can of course buy your Samsung if you want. But before you make any purchase at least compare the features and capabilities of the two phones you want to buy.

Consider the cost of repairs. For Xiaomi and Redmi phones you can buy spare parts cheap on AliExpress and give it to any capable roadside repairer to use in fixing your phone. The cost of spares for Samsung phones and fixing them is quite high though, but then you know that.

Sorry for the epistle. And if you like phones and gadgets try to be a regular visitor at GSMARENA.
In fact, from GSMARENA I learned the Xiaomi Note 10 is coming out this month with 5 cameras on the back, one of which has an 108 MP sensor. Yes, 108 Megapixels. I might buy it instead of the Redmi Note 8 pro, cos it's hungering me. lol

We are not talking about gaming here, just stating facts when you bring a high end or flagship phone of infinix and tecno,I will bring you a midrange xiaomi..side by side with a better spec and at same price range..

Though every body has the right to use what ever pleases them

My first Android Phone was tecno m3 that was my first and last..

We just want you to have value for your money, not as if we gain anything from it if you buy a xiaomi or tecno or Samsung phone..

Cheers!!!

True. Even my Mi Max 2 released 2 years ago is superior to most Tecno and Infinix phones released this year. I'm not bashing anyone or anything. I'm just stating the facts as I see it.

My first Android phone was a Tecno tablet. I've forgotten the name, but it served me well.

To be honest, Redmi users or no redmi users, believe what they say about xiaomi...
A girl got her phone stolen. She previously used Redmi Note 7.. When she came last week, we tried to convince her to buy Oppo (Just to make oppo guy make some sales because they are sacking them if they don't meet up), she couldn't just buy oppo. Rather she bought Redmi again...

Two weeks ago, a girl we were able to convince to buy oppo called me telling me she is not happy with me..

Reason: I was the reason she bought the oppo. She said she preferred her former Redmi than what she is using and wants to sell..

Note: The formal oppo saleman in my office uses Redmi..

The current oppo salesman is using Xiaomi (PocoPhone)

Me, I have been using Xiaomi device since 2015 and have not been able to switch brand..

Not because of the hype or the device itself.. It is because of MIUI and its features....

When you see these redmi users attack other brands, I sometimes don't blame them because a trial will convince you..

More Gee boys are getting xiaomi devices from our office because of MIUI... I think MIUI is helping them (If you know what I mean)...

Try Redmi 7A... It is cheap. You will understand... For music lovers, MIUI gives a very good production if Mi sound enhancer is enabled..

There are a lot about MIUI..

Am not really into the brand thing but am fully into MIUI as a customised OS..

One more thing.... I think xiaomi is the only Android brand that update but their 5 year old device with their skinned OS..

One good thing here is this... A device running MIUI 10 under Android 10 will have almost same features with another device running MIUI 10 under Android 6..

Try Xiaomi and dig deep its features. You will understand why people defend the brand

Everything is perfect, look very well I said I love the fact u gave me ur reasons without attacking other brands.
I wish all redmi users will learn from u, and almost every one that used their product already used Tecno (without much issues too)

All I can say is xiaomi want more users they simply need more marketing strategy, , , , especially outside Nairaland

Other thing is not everyone is into tech. Many people just need the android experience,
If u are just a trader in the market u will see that, even itel phone will last well in ur hands, because u just need basic features.

If I get Redmi today, I will still advice a mason man to buy Itel phones because its all he can afford, and most of them using just for betting grin grin grin grin grin..

Now Tecno Camon 12 is 46-47k

How will u convince typical Nigerian may be some one buying android the first time to by note 8 or even not 7.

Remember am using Nigeria price not Aliepress....

Am telling u that Redmi product is not cheap when u sell it in Nigeria,,,,

Two infinix and Tecno are cheaper regardless of d scrab the put inside which typical Nigerians don't care, , ,

All I am begging is Xiaomi users should pls stop attacking...

Just go and do marketing and advertising.... Thank u....

If I get Redmi today, I will still advice a mason man to buy Itel phones because its all he can afford, and most of them using just for betting grin grin grin grin grin..

lol. I get you bro.

Check out Redmi 6. Especially the Redmi 6A. Look at the price, add extra to it and compare it to what Tecno and co have in the market. For their features, Xiaomi and Redmi phones are extremely cheap. But you are right that most Nigerians are not really interested in tech and don't care what is inside their phones.
