Yeah, it isn't. I haven't come across an exhaustive list yet. I'm sure there must be a federal govt. document that contains more info. somewhere, but I haven't been able to lay my hands on it.

they are actually tribes with distinct languages albiet they only sometimes exist in one village. they are grouped coarsely into three
but that doesnt do justice ( a la kalabari, khana and Ikwerre).

What's the difference between Omoku and Ogba? I thought the indigenes of Omoku were Ogba people? I also thought that Ibani meant the same thing as Bonny, and folks from that area were Kalabari people? Or is there a difference?

Ibani is Bonny and I didnt put Ibani and Bonny together. I did do my reserach and Omoku people are actually ogba. its Odili's people that make up the 15th tribe.

In a broad sense, some people say kalabari,Nkoro,opobo,andoni,ibani and okrika are eastern Ijaw but the languages and culture are different.

I don't think we have anything close to 250. Seems like somebody made this thing up for special effects. . . . I sure hope people are not counting clans and villages as ethnic groups

That has been my suspicion. I honestly do not think we have anything close to 100 ethnic groups in the right sense of the word. Clans and villages don't count.
