My Experience With Nairaland Paid Ad by SolarEdge: 9:50am On Jun 24, 2021
Good morning all, I've been on this platform for some time now. I decided to experiment the NAIRALAND PAID AD because each time I make free post, I get banned.

I gave it a short about 2 weeks ago, got a professional graphic designer to get me a ice banner based on the specification given here. Then I made a payment of Twenty thousand naira #20,000.

For the first few days, I used my product catalog link on my website as my landing page, and the website is integrated with my business watsapp, meaning if you clicked on the Ad andit takes you to my product catalog and you're interested in any product, you just click on the watsapp symbol and it takes you to my end. So it's that simple.

At the end of each day, I go through my Ad Report I'll be amazed with the statistics, wawu! On each section I would see 70 clicks, 45 clicks, 60 clicks...yet No single hello from those that made that click.

So, I sat down and came up with an idea, I removed my website link and replaced with my WhatsApp business link. I said it's possible those clicks I saw, the people eventually went to my website but were not interested in my product and they left. But using Whatsapp, when they click on the ad it should take them directly to my watsappp.

But to my greatest surprise, even with the watsapp link I saw about 4/5 people on my watsapp end from the Ad, yet my Nairaland paid Ad report keeps giving me unimaginable figure of clicks yet I'm not getting it.

Please if you've done nairaland ad or you're doing it, kindly enlighten me how this clicks reported on the Ad works.

Because each banner I see on nairaland, either a WhatsApp or website landing page used..it always take me to either page.

Is there something I'm not understanding? Because on my Facebook ad, when someone clicked on my link, he/she automatically comes to my WhatsApp end.

My 20k Ad ended yesterday, and I must say it's a waste of money.

Then your product or service ain't a unique one.

Due to high scam rate on this forum it's hard for people to trust ads here.

The truth is online adverts like any advertising campaign you need to be strategic about it.

You should consider what youre selling and the best approach to reach youre buyers

Nairaland banner ads is great at driving traffic and getting impressions, but the conversion for ecomerce projects may not be so great. I have tried it twice myself, i learnt the hard way.

I assure u this thread will be deleted 100%

Yeah, I'm not after the product. Get my point...I'm particular about the CLICKS. when they click where is it going to? Did you see the ad report I posted? If nairaland said 70 people clicked on my banner which is my watsapp link..I'm supposed to get it at my watsapp end, don't I? Then after conversation with the clicker's then they can conclude my service isn't unique. MY QUESTION IS WITH CLICKS ON MY AD REPORT...THANKS

I'm very sure you will get a positive response base on this thread you created because I have done paid advert here before and I must confess that it worth it.

It may be that there were actual clicks but when the users saw or noticd it requested they open WhatsApp that they backed off.

Other things may have happened inbetween clicking here and eventually arriving on your WhatsApp channel.

Did you use any other link attribution method to track performance e.g Google UTM, bitly?

That can also he;p you drill down.

As a matter of principle, I always advice marketers to use a link attribution mechanism e.g link shortner or utm tags to monitor what is happening with the links.

P.S Once ran a fb traffic ad meant to drive user to my WhatsApp (I didn't do WhatsApp messaging ad direct beacuse of cost), the post has engagement and link clicks but nothing got to WhatsApp

I'd go with this explanation.

Please do this. Whatsapp is not the best way to independently track clicks. Use a url shortener as suggested and let me know what you find.

Optimize sir/madam.

You have been told a likely reason for your low rate of people who eventually sent you message on whatsapp. Work on it. I still believe you can use your whatsapp. In fact, it is one of the options Nigerians like. Even, I prefer it at times. If your customers are from abroad, then, it may not work well with you. But we Naijas use whatsapp more for everything.

That being said, you can try something else based on the shorten link suggestion. You may want to use another concept for your landing page. Bro/sis, it is all about optimizing and studying your customers. You are even lucky. If your ads are so "wacked", get 1 million views daily, you'll get no serious person who want to chat with you So, you need to use the strategy: Free Service first. Oga/madam, I checked your previous posts and it is likely you are advising solar panels, accessories or systems. This is what you have been bombarding on NL. If yes, think of what you can give your potentials customers free. Just for bombarding NL with spams tells me you have zero knowledge about how digital marketing works. You have violated one of the rules and you have bad ethics. I am sure you carried your flaws over to the paid ads, and you are complaining just cos you are paying now. You didn't care when you were not paying grin Oga/madam, good business ethics saves one from many troubles. You may need experts opinions.

Get a good content writer this time, better to employ a copywriter to give you a good landing page. Also, you may need to do split test. In short, what you are doing is digital marketing. You can do it if you know the process. Otherwise, you need the help of an expert to optimize everything for you.

NL is just a vehicle just like facebook, instagram, etc. You need to still optimize it to work well for you. Mind you, to get a quality copywriter for just content is $0.2 min per word, average price of $0.5, and some shoot up to $1 per word. And minimum is 500 words with good ones who will deliver. Some even have 2,000 words minimum if its copyright. However, "wacked" ones are numerous in Fiverr and the rest who will even take 0.0001 cent per word.

Anyway, regardless of what you want to do, optimize well. You will see tremendous improvement if you do it well.

Goodluck sir/madam.

God knows I’ve mistakenly clicked on strategically placed ads at least five thousand times during my stay here.

The individual appears to be stubborn, I went to his page and can clearly see why he is not converting. Most likely he will blame everyone, but him self.

I have read much on NL Ads, but no way yet to go about it. I don't know where to pay, how to start, just clueless. I have made the recommended banner specs, but no link to purchase the ads bundle. Please enlighten me.

My 20k Ad ended yesterday, and I must say it's a waste of money.

I created a system that helps me know which areas I should place my ads

3 things you should know about Nairaland ads:
1. It is all about Visibility, forget target audience, it's about focused audience (look for where people are) this not Facebook and stop using Facebook/Instagram/YouTube/Google/Twitter ads mentality to run your ads They won't work here at all. Honest Truth

2. Like I previously said!, Go and meet people where they are and not where they might be
I analyzed your ads(20k) and when I ran it on my visibility Index system for Nairaland ads. It Showed up this amazing information, it said you should have just advertise your business on the religion section for a month, week and 2 days (i.e 5 weeks and 2days) and you will definitely make profits

3. Lastly, the problem most people have when placing ads on Nairaland is they don't look for places where alot of people can see them. For example are you aware that MODS move at least 10 threads/topics to FP on Friday for the Muslims and another 10 threads/topics for the Christians on Sunday. Now that is over 20 topics to the FP in a week(20 topics*5 weeks=100 topics in over a month) now lets compared it to your family, properties and Nairaland/general where you went to advertise!. Based on observation those 3 combined will probably move just 9 topics to the FP in a month. So the question is! why would you advertise in a place where they can only see you for 9 times in 4 weeks? Compared to a place where they can see you 100 times in 5 weeks!. Hope you are understanding the analysis.

In summary: what am just trying to say is When it comes to Nairaland ads!, It should be treated differently from Facebook. And it's all about Visibility, Going to where people are and creating thought captivating, mind-blowing, entertaining and engaging ad copy.
And When you do this!, Profits will be flowing like rivers of water

Nairaland is the only place I know where someone will advertise in a section for a month and make 100k and another person will go to a different place and run ads a day and make 1million
It is just crazy
Nairaland is highly profitable when it comes to ads
You just need to find a place to look before you leap
Do have a blessed day
