Good day everyone!!

Looking back at what happened on Sunday after the Euro 2020 final, it dawned on me to pen this down.

The abuse, racism, insults been directed at the black players who lost their penalty kick in the final would have been same or even worse if it were to be the Nigerian national team. It beats my imagination to how people stoop this low.

This note is just to point out our hypocrisy as we continue to lash out at the white folks for being racist. We need to look deep and realise we are worse, we do same and even more to our brothers.

Just imagine the reaction if it were three south easterners/ Northerners that lost their kicks.

If it were easterners, they would be picked on and insulted and if it were also Northerners it would have been same. Words like "Aboki go be Aboki" would have been all over nairaland.

I remember an age grade tournament (U-20) few years back, the team didn't perform up to expectations, the blame didn't go to the coaches neither were they directed to some players that performed below par. The anger and resentment was unleashed and was recited all over nairaland that it was cause the team was full of "Aboki".

Beyond politics, sports is one the that should be followed without resentment or tribal superiority. We all are guilty and no matter how we blame the northerners, it's still doesn't change the fact we do same or even worse if in their shoes.

I only posted this here for traffic, it has nothing to do with politics.

That's the same thing notherners would have said if the team was dominated by Southerners. Not picking sides tho!! I just wish sports will be devoid of tribalism.

Let's look at the scenerio of the three black players )who lost their penalty kicks on Sunday) into context, if it were in Nigeria and three players from same tribe lost, the uproar and abuse might be worse than what we've seen.

And about the DSS head including his child, that's wrong and one of the ills of this God forsaken country.

Lol!! Let's not delve into politics cause that's a whole curriculum on its own. I just feel or think sports should free from tribalism.
