|Does My Cold Room Need Ventilation? by ofinglobal(m): 10:14am On Nov 18, 2022|
Cold rooms are liable to capacity mold growth issues, and one of the common reasons is due to insufficient ventilation.
Often, cold rooms are built with one or more passive air flow holes drilled in the foundation.
If these vents are blocked, reducing the essential air flow, issues can arise from an increase in water vapor and relative humidity. It is essential for cold rooms to be properly ventilated at all times, even during the winter.
A cold room should have two 6" vents core drilled through the foundation wall to allow for proper cross ventilation. The vents should have grills on the outside to prevent animals from entering. Venting a cold room is critical for preventing mold growth.
Improving the overall ventilation will assist with regulating levels of relative humidity and removing excess water vapor, which can lead to condensation with the cold room materials.
