The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 6.
(It Builds Strong and Lasting Relationships - 3).

"Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, THINKETH NO EVIL."(1st Corinthians 13:5).

Today, we will look at two more attributes of love that helps to strengthen relationships and make them last. The first is contained in the later part of the opening text and it reads; "love thinketh no evil". This phrase can be interpreted two ways. First, it means that your mind is not negatively programmed if you are walking in divine love.

For instance, just because you see two people together of opposite sex quite a few times does not mean that they are having an affair. This is how the carnal mind is programmed to think. You shouldn't think that way. It's even worse when you start spreading rumours about them that are not true just because of your wrong perception of their relationship.

Another example is a scenerio where your spouse does not return back home from work at the usual time. The tendency for a negative mindset is to begin to think that he or she is with another lover. Such negative mindset can lead to breakage of relationships. Do not have a negatively programmed mind.

The second interpretation the phrase, 'love thinketh no evil' means is that love does not keep record of wrongs done to her. When you keep reminding someone of his or her past offense, you are not walking in love. Quite a few people even keep a diary of wrongs done to them. And at the slightest provocation, they recall them all. This attitude often breaks relationships if it becomes too frequent.

This brings us to the last attribute I love to discuss; divine love forgives and forgets. To forget doesn't mean that you will not remember what someone did to you. But it does mean that even if you remember, it will not result in any form of resentment within you. True forgiveness should come from your heart.

Make effort to walk in divine love if you want to have a strong and lasting relationship. Recall all you have learnt in the course of this series and be determined to put them to work. Instead of having breakage in relationships every now and then, most people won't want to lose you. Remember, you are the light of the world. Let your light so shine by consciously walking in love that the name of our God might be glorified.

Prayer: Loving Father, I thank you for your gracious love that is better than life itself. Life is meaningless without your love. Help me love my brethren just the way you love me. Teach me to be patient with people and treat them kindly. I also ask for your grace never to remember wrongs done to me in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 7.
(It Is the Secret of Happiness, Peace of Mind and The Root Virtue from Which Other Virtues Ensues)

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." (Galatians 5:22-23).

The opening text contains the list of the fruit of the new spirit we received at new birth. The first on the list is love. It's not a coincidence that love is mentioned first. Love for the brethren is the first evidence that should be seen in the life of anyone who is born again. Thus, our Lord Jesus said; " A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." (John 13:34-35).

When you walk in love especially towards the brethren, the result is joy or happiness. Joy however is deeper than happiness. Happiness is an emotional feeling of excitement when something good happens. But you can be joyful even in adverse circumstances. In any case, walking in love releases joy and makes you happier.

When you see a professing believer who is always not happy or moody, it's most likely he is not walking in love. You can't walk in love and be sad at the same time. For instance, each time you reach out to help someone in need, it makes you feel glad especially if the help you rendered came from your heart.

If you also forgive someone who hurt you, it takes away the ill feeling you had when you held on to that grudge. Those who keep grudge against those who hurt them are hardly happy. It's even worse if the people they are holding the offense against are always around them.

The by product of joy or happiness is peace of mind. You can't be happy and troubled in your mind at the same time. Hence, our Lord Jesus said; "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." (John 16:33).

The other virtues mentioned in the opening text are also part of the attributes of love listed in the thirteenth chapter of the book of First Corinthians. Notice also that the opening text says, 'the fruit of the spirit is...'. The word fruit is in singular which is actually not correct grammatically speaking. It didn't say, the fruits of the spirit is...' as in plural.

All the virtue are all packaged together. So, they are all supposed to be seen in the life of a child of God. But the root virtue that unlocks the other virtue is love. This is why you ought to make walking in love your greatest aim. Don't let your flesh dominate you. God has called you to live a fulfilled and a happy life. And one of the secret of a happy life is walking in love.

Prayer: Dear Father, I give you thanks for your faithfullness and love towards me. I thank you also for depositing your love nature in my spirit. As I walk in love towards all especially the brethren, may the joy of the spirit and peace of mind be evidently seen in my life in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 8.
(It Preserves Your Health and Also Brings Healing - 1).

"Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him."(John 14:23).

The opening text unveils the power of love. Our Lord Jesus said that those who keep his words will attract a special love from the Father. If there is any word Jesus said that he wants us to keep, it is his commandment to love the brethren. In other words, walking in love towards the brethren attract God's divine presence.

In fact, our Lord Jesus said that your home will become God's home. And when God comes to dwell in your home, he will fill it with his presence. There is no way sickness can dwell in God's presence. Families that walk in love hardly fall sick. If there is frequent illness in your family, check your love walk. This is why children from homes where couples always fight each other and quarrel always fall sick.

Members of a congregation that do not walk in love often fall sick also. Some even experience untimely death. This is why Apostle warn the Corinthian church to be careful the manner and ways they partake of the communion. They did it in such a way that it brought division in the church. And he said that some brethren even got drunk in the process. Thus, Paul said that taking the communion in an unworthy manner could open the door to sickness and even untimely death - 1st Corinthians 11:30.

James also wrote; "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16). What James is saying here is that learn to apologize when you hurt your fellow brethren. You are not walking in love when you hurt someone and you did not make effort to admit what you did and apologize. It could expose you to sickness.

So, ensure that your family members are taught to walk in love towards one another. Otherwise, Satan will take advantage of any act that is contrary to love walk to afflict the family
with sickness. The church should also constantly remind the members on the need to walk in love. If this is done, we will have less cases of brethren falling sick. And it is even possible that an entire congregation can enjoy divine health if everyone consciously walk in love towards one another. Remember, the children of Israel all enjoyed divine health before the law of Moses was given - Psalms 105:37. Tomorrow, we will look at a few more examples from the scripture on how our health can be affected by the way we walk in love.

Prayer: Merciful Father, I give you glory and honour due to your name. I thank you for keeping me as the apple of your eyes. Guide my thoughts, words and actions in such a way that it will not device evil against my brethren nor not hurt them. I pray that your love nature will be seen in our homes and in our places of worship so we can enjoy your manifest presence which preserves our health in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

(It Preserves Your Health and Also Brings Healing - 2).

"The LORD will be like a nurse to him when he is ill in bed. Every time that he is ill, you will make him well again." (Psalms 41:3, Easy English Translation).

The opening text reveals what happens to you when you render help to the poor. The psalmist had said in an earlier verse that; "Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble." (Psalms 41:1). The restoration of your health comes speedily when you minister to the poor.

Prophet Isaiah said the same thing after he rebuked the children of Israel for not helping the poor; "Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, AND THINE HEALTH SHALL SPRING FORTH SPEEDILY: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward."(Isaiah 58:7-cool.

On one occasion, Peter was sent for to raise a woman, Dorcas by name from the dead. When Peter came, all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them - Acts 9:39. And the scripture said; "...Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up."(Acts 9:40).

If Dorcas was a stingy woman, no one would have bothered to send for Peter. They would have even rejoiced at the news of her death. Add value to people's life through good works and giving alms to the poor. When you do so, you will find it easier to receive healing when you fall sick and even be raised back to life if dead strike like it happened to Dorcas.

Prayer: Dear Father, I thank you for the gift of life and watching over me through the night hours. I greatly rejoice for the opportunity to see a brand new day. Orchestrate my footsteps to connect with the right people in the mighty name of Jesus. Deliver me from wicked and unreasonable men and women in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 10.
(It Preserves Your Health and Also Brings Healing - 3).

"And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous." (Numbers 12:9-10).

The opening text was the judgment passed on Miriam for speaking against Moses. She became leprous. Prior to this judgment, the scripture said; "And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it." (Numbers 12:1-2).

When you speak evil against your fellow brethren, you are not walking in love. And such evil speaking could expose you to receive affliction from the devil. It is far worse if the person you are speaking against is a minister of the gospel.

Aaron and Miriam accused Moses of marrying an Ethiopian woman. The scripture did not give us details about who this woman was. The only wife he married that was mentioned in the Bible was Zipporah who was the daughter of the priest of Median, Jethro. Even if Moses did marry an Ethiopian woman, it would have been before God called him. God does not use your past against you. So, the accusation does not hold water. It could also have been before the law was given. And the scripture says; "...where no law is, there is no transgression." (Romans 4:15).

Even if Moses was guilty in the eyes of God, Aaron and Miriam do not have the right to judge Moses. Just as Apostle Paul wrote; "Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand." (Romans 14:4).

So, we must be careful how we talk about servants of God and even our fellow brethren. Don't be too quick to believe what people say about others. Even if it's true, you don't have the right to condemn him or her. You are not even supposed to be involved in spreading such rumours. If you do, you are opening a wide door for you devil to afflict you and even cut short your life.

This is why Apostle Paul wrote; "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and EVIL SPEAKING, be put away from you, with all malice." (Ephesians 4:31). Peter also said; "Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all EVIL SPEAKING."(1st Peter 2:1).

Prayer: Great and Mighty God, may your name alone be glorified. Have mercy on me in ways and manners I have spoken evil about my brethren and even servants of God. I refrain from such act from this day henceforth. I love my brethren and your servants you have placed over me. I will continue to walk in love towards them and everyone called by your name in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 11. (It Builds Trust).

"When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!."(John 19:26).

Walking in divine love builds trust in relationships. Our Lord Jesus had twelve disciples but he loved John the most. This is probably because John also sold out his life for the ministry of our Lord Jesus. He was also among the three closest disciples to our Lord Jesus. On an occasion, he was said to have leaned on the bosom of Jesus - John 13:23. This is why John is often referred to as the disciple whom Jesus loved in five places in the Bible - John 13:23, 19:26, 20:2, 21:7 & 21:20.

No wonder John also experienced uncommon protection. He survived boiling oil when Roman emperor Domitian ordered he should be thrown into it. He was also forced to drink poison and he survived it. After attempts to kill him failed, he was banished to the Isle of Patmos thinking he wouldn't survive the wild animals there. But he did and it was in that Isle he received visions of what was going to happen in the last days. These visions are contained in the book of Revelation.

The intimacy between our Lord Jesus and John the beloved was strongest amongst all the disciples of Jesus. On account of this, Jesus entrusted the care of his mother, Mary to John. He knew that John will take care of her as though she was his mother.

In our journey of life, there are very few people that can be trusted. A lot of people have been betrayed by people they trusted so much. But when we walk in divine love, it is much easier to have trust for one another.

In a fellowship where divine love is absent, people are afraid to discuss personal matters with even their fellow brethren. Even when they are very hungry, they find it hard to ask for help for fear that they will be despised. So, they will prefer to endure the hunger than being humiliated.

Whether we like it or not, people know those they can go to in difficult times but they are not easy to find. Even Apostle Paul said during his missionary journey that Timothy was his only trusted son he could commit certain responsibilities to - Philippians 2:19-20.

The church needs to be awakened to the need to walk in divine love as we ought to. When this happens, trust will be built among the brethren. And you will be able freely approach a brother or sister and share your thoughts and challenges with them.

Prayer: Dear Father, I bless your holy name. I thank you for your faithfulness and unfailing love. I have full assurance that you will fulfill the good pleasure of your will in my life. I pray that this same love will be in the hearts of everyone in your vineyard so we can build stronger relationships that will translate to trust in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 12. (It's One of The Secrets of Church Growth).

"And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved."(Acts 2:46-47).

Walking in divine love aids church growth. The early church demonstrated divine love to the point that most of the brethren liquidated their assets and parted the proceeds to all men, as every man had need. This is love in action. And the result was continuous and daily church growth.

Everyone wants to be in an environment where love is demonstrated. And there is no better place to demonstrate love than the church. The scripture says that we are the light of the world. One of the reasons most of our churches are not growing is because divine love is hardly demonstrated.

The church needs to be reawakened to the need to walk in love as instructed by our Lord Jesus. Consciously make budget for the poor and needy brethren in your local assembly. The church should have a welfare department that is set to attend to the need of the brethren. And everyone should be encouraged from time to time to give towards the welfare scheme.

It could be money, food, clothes or household items. It should be noted here that items given outside money must be in good condition. Don't give clothes that are faded or worn out. Remember that the scripture says that you will reap what you sow.

And when you give, do it willingly and cheerfully for God loves a cheerful giver. One of the reasons some people don't experience any form of blessing when they render help is because they do it grudgingly.

It's important to mention here that you must be careful not to deliberately let people know what you gave or did for someone in need. Thus, our Lord Jesus said; "But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly." (Matthew 6:3-4).

The church needs a revival of love. Let's begin to take interest in the welfare of our fellow brethren. Do it to the point that you can sell a valuable asset to help the poor. It won't make you poorer. Rather, it opens doors of favour and launches you to great riches and wealth. When we do this, the church will grow continuously and great joy will fill the hearts of the brethren to the glory of God.

Prayer: Everlasting and Merciful Father, I give you thanks for another wonderful day. Be thou exalted above the heavens and let your glory fill all the earth. I pray for a fresh revival in the church like it was in the early church where there was fervent love among the brethren such that they sold their possessions and goods to help the poor and needy. I declare that financial and material blessings is coming to me so I can be of blessing to others in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 13. (It Covers The Multitude of Sins).

"And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins." (1st Peter 4:cool.

The need for the church to walk in divine love cannot be overemphasized. Apostle Peter admonished the church to have fervent love amongst themselves. To have a fervent love means to have a deep or intense love. And he said that this love shall cover the multitude of sins.

The phrase, 'shall cover the multitude of sins' can be applied two ways. First, it means that we should be quick to forgive one another to the point that issue are settled without getting too much publicity. We have already mentioned this aspect of our love walk in a previous study.

The second way we can apply this phrase has to do with how we manage information about a brother or sister who has fallen into an error. We should never indulge in spreading such information to others as so many people do. Rather, find a way to restore the parties involved back to the faith. If you can't handle it, let your pastor know about it. If it's an act that requires a disciplinary measure, it should be done in such a way as not to lose the members involved.

Thus, Apostle Paul wrote; "Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted." (Galatians 6:1).

No one is above temptation. Never condemn your fellow brethren when they fall into errors. Even our Lord Jesus did not condemn the woman who was caught in the very act of adultery. Rather, he told her to go and sin no more - John 8:11.

Another good example of how love covers the multitude of sins is in the story of Joseph and Mary. Joseph discovered that Mary, the mother of Jesus was pregnant when as at that time, he had no carnal knowledge of her. By the law of Moses, she was supposed to be stoned to death if found guilty.

But because of the love Joseph had for Mary, he planned to secretly divorce her before he was told in a dream that the pregnancy was of the Holy Ghost. Most men would have acted otherwise. Mary would have been stoned to death even before she had the opportunity to defend herself.

So, don't judge or condemn your fellow brethren when they make mistakes. Don't also spread such information. Rather, do whatever you can to restore him or her back to the faith. Remember the scripture says that the devil is the accuser of the brethren. Anyone who condemns his fellow brethren is working for the devil. Don't give the devil an opportunity to take advantage of us, for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Prayer: Dear Father, I give you glory and honour due to your name. I thank you for your mercy that has kept me thus far. I pray that the love you have placed in our hearts will cover the multitude of sins of everyone of us in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 14. (It Minimizes Gossips and Slanders).

"A perverse person spreads dissension, and a gossip separates the closest friends." (Proverbs 16:28, New English Translation).

There is nothing that destroys a church more than gossips and slanders. A gossip is someone who loves to discuss other people's private matters. And in most cases, it's always the negative things about the person that is being discussed. While a slanderer is someone who makes malicious comments about people with the intention of defaming their characters.

However, when we walk in divine love, both slanders and gossips are minimized. This can be achieved if the brethren are constantly taught on the need to desist from such acts. Just as the scripture says; "The one who goes about gossiping reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with someone who is always opening his mouth." (Proverbs 20:19, New English Translation).

Those who engage in gossips and slanders loves to talk too much. And these evil works thrive only when there is a listening ear. So, both the gossipper and the one who pays attention to gossips are both guilty. So, the best way to discourage gossips and slanders is to avoid giving audience to those indulged in it. The moment you perceive they are about to start, just excuse yourself out of the discussion or find ways to change the topic.

These vices destroys the church of Christ and give the devil opportunities to bring division and hatred among members in the church. Besides, it opens the door of attack on those involved in such acts. The attack can come in different ways ranging from health challenges to your business suffering setbacks. It can even lead to untimely death.

If you must gossip, focus on the good sides of people. Talk about what you like about them rather than attempting to run them down. Remember that we are members of the same family in Christ. Above all, it could make you a misfit for the kingdom of heaven. Thus, the scripture warns; "...That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment." (Matthew 12:36).

Prayer: Gracious and Merciful Father, may your name alone be glorified. I thank you for watching over me through the night hour and giving me the opportunity to witness another glorious day. Have mercy on me in manners and ways I have spoken negative words about my brethren. I declare that from this day henceforth, my lips will not utter gossips and slanders against my brethren and neighbours in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 15. (It Destroys Selfishness and Greed).

"Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others." (Philippians 2:4).

We all have goals and dreams in life we love to achieve. But when the pursuit of our goals is such that all you think about is just you, it amounts to selfishness. Greed comes in when you have excessive desire for more even though you can do without the excesses.

This is the story of most people in the world we live in today. They already have the comfort of life such that basic needs such as food, clothes, and shelter is not a challenge to them. They even have fleet of cars, several built houses and several businesses that are thriving but they are never satisfied.

And when they are making new budgets, it's how they can buy new cars, build new homes or acquire more lands. They hardly think about the poor people around them, the less privileged, the widows, fatherless and the orphans. This is a very wrong way to live your life.

When the children of Israel began to possess their lands after they left Egypt, there were few tribes at a certain time that were yet to possess their land. God told the tribes that have possessed their lands to help these tribes to fight until they also possess their lands - Deuteronomy 3:20. They were only permitted to go back to their own land until God has given their brethren rest also.

So, when you have attained some level of success in life such that basic needs like feeding, clothing and shelter are no longer a problem, help others who are still having having the challenges of meeting these basic needs. Be concerned about them. This is what divine love does. It destroys selfishness and greed. The welfare and wellbeing of your fellow brethren becomes your concern when you are walking in divine love. And reaching out to them does not make you lose anything. Rather, it opens doors of more favour and blessing.

In the same way, ministries that are thriving should reach out to other ministries and support them to grow up also. Wealthy pastors should support up coming ones. Remember, your true wealth in the kingdom of God is not measured by the money you have in the bank, or the number of cars and private jets you have. It is measured by what you have given away to support the weak, poor, orphans and widows.

Prayer: Holy Father, I thank you for your faithfullness and goodness towards me. You are at work in my life to ensure that your good plans concerning me comes to pass. I pray for a revival in the church that will spur us up to support others until we all experience financial rest in the mighty name of Jesus.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 16. (It Fulfills The Law).

"For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law."(Romans 13:9-10).

One of the mission of our Lord Jesus was to fulfill the Law. This is why he said; "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." (Matthew 5:17-18).

The word fulfill in this context means to satisfy or meet the requirements. And Jesus said he didn't come to destroy the law but to meet its requirement. To destroy here means to arbitrarily annul the law of Moses without following due process. The due process required him to go to the cross because the law says that the souls that sins must die. So, Jesus died, met the requirements of the Law and set it aside.

In addition, he put his love in our hearts that gives us the ability to live right in accordance to the ten commandments given under the Law. Thus, if you walk by the divine love of God placed in your heart, you will not steal, nor kill, nor commit adultery or do anything contrary to the law.

So, the church is not under the law of Moses and the ten commandments has been replaced with the new commandment of love Jesus gave which reads; " A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." (John 13:34-35).

We are now in the dispensation of grace and not under the law of Moses. The divine love of God placed in our hearts fulfills the law. The moral demands under grace is even greater than what it was under the law. For example, the law says, 'thou shall not commit adultery'. But grace says, 'anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery. Again, the law says, 'thou shall not kill'. But grace says, 'anyone who hates his brother is a murderer'.

So, grace did not come to water down the righteous requirements contained in the law. Rather, it raised it. And the ability to live right has been placed in us because of the divine love deposited in our spirit at new birth. Just let this new kind of love dominate your thoughts, words and actions. And all the requirements of the Law will be fulfilled.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, you are Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. Besides you, there is no other God. I thank you for depositing your love nature in my spirit thus giving me the ability to meet the requirements of the Law. I yield myself to it and I refuse to make provisions for the flesh to dominate me in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 17. (It's The Key that Unlocks Uncommon Miracles).

"Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward." (Isaiah 58:cool.

We have made reference to the opening text before when we discussed how walking in divine love preserves your health and also brings healing. Today, we will take a holistic look at the blessings that are triggered by walking in love. In other words, the blessings that comes when we give alms to the poor and shelter to the homeless is an all round blessing.

One aspect of giving that the church must constantly emphasize on is ministering to the poor. There are too much emphasis on sowing seeds at the altar of God if you want uncommon miracles. There is absolutely nothing wrong in encouraging brethren to sow worthy seeds at the altar of God. But we hardly talk about helping the poor and the needy. Ministering to the poor is one sure act that unlocks uncommon miracles.

Prophet Isaiah by the Spirit of God unveiled what happens when you give to the poor and needy. He said that your light will break forth as the morning, your health will be restored and the good act will pave way for many good things to happen to you. And God's glory will be your escort.

In addition, he wrote; "And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not."(Isaiah 58:11). This verse just quoted points to prosperity.

Your breakthrough is not limited to sowing seeds at the altar of God. Learn also to minister to the poor and needy. One of the reasons people don't get blessed when they give to the needy is because they do it grudgingly. They are not excited helping the poor. It's like a burden to them instead of celebrating the opportunity to give to the poor and needy.

So, let's begin to make budget for the poor and needy in our midst. Put smiles on the faces of the hungry and homeless and watch how God will open doors of opportunities and miracles for you. This is why our Lord Jesus said; "Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away." (Matthew 5:42). He even said we should do it even if we have to liquidate our assets to give - Luke 12:33. It is my earnest prayer that the church will experience revival in this aspect of our Christian walk as it was in the early church.

Prayer: Great and Mighty God, you are worthy to be praised and adored. I thank you for your word that enlightens me. I make it a priority to give to the poor and needy brethren around me from this day henceforth. I trust you for overflowing blessings as I do so in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 19. (It Does Not Fail).

"Love never fails. Now if there are prophecies, they will be done away with. If there are languages, they will cease. If there is knowledge, it will be done away with." (1st Corinthians 13:8, International Standard Version).

Divine love that God placed in hearts does not fail as contained in the opening text. The phrase 'never fails' means, 'cannot be rendered powerless or inefficient'. Human love fails. For instance, you often hear someone say, 'I love you' but after a while say just the opposite.

One of the reasons so many relationships crash including marriages is because it is not hinged to divine love. The love most people exhibit in relationships are selfish love. When a lady says, I love you, it's most likely because of the money you have or your perceived status. Lose that money or status, the love will fade or totally disappear.

There are so many people who go into relationships because of the emotional feelings they have for each other. But the feelings will not always be there. And when the feeling is no longer there as it was when they first met, they begin to think about a fresh relationship and after a while, they experience the same frustration.

Feelings does not sustain relationships. Not even beauty or money. I have seen women break away from their marital relationship with men that are very wealthy and I have also seen men divorce very beautiful women. When every other thing fails, divine love does not fail. It is the binding force that holds relationships together even in difficult times.

This is why it's important you get rooted and grounded in this new kind of love. It is patient and kind. It is quick to forgive and hardly takes record of wrong done to it. This kind of love does not reward evil for evil. It is ready to consider the interest of the other person first. The best relationship you can ever get into is not the richest man or the most beautiful woman. It's a man or woman who understand divine love and walks in it. Wealth will fail, beauty will fade away but divine love never fails.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank you for your unfailing love. You still love me even in my weaknesses. I ask for grace to love others in just the way you love me in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 20. (It Does Not Fail - 2).

"Love never fails. Now if there are prophecies, they will be done away with. If there are languages, they will cease. If there is knowledge, it will be done away with." (1st Corinthians 13:8, International Standard Version).

Yesterday, we said that love does not fall. Relationships built around feelings, wealth and beauty fails but divine love does not fail. We are going to look at another way we can apply this attribute of love in our lives.

We often hear people make comments like, 'I can't take it anymore', or 'this is the last chance I am giving to you'. People who talk this way are not walking in divine love. How would you feel if God says that he has given up on you because of one shortcoming or the other in your life? You will certainly not be happy.

There are also instances some people stop giving their support to a needy friend or family member. They feel they have done their very best for them. So, they don't want them to come again for further help. Divine love doesn't behave that way. It does not say, I have been supporting him for five years now. I won't do it anymore. Divine love has no time limit or support limit. It keeps doing good works till the end. It is a pure demonstration of love that is unending.

Apostle Peter had a lot of shortcomings to the point that he denied Jesus. But our Lord Jesus did not give up on him. He still committed to his trust the apostleship to the Jews.

Divine love also does not say, I have forgiven him twenty times but I will not forgive again if he offends me one more time. Remember the answer our Lord Jesus gave to Peter when he asked how often we should forgive our brothers. Jesus said seven times seventy times in one day which translates to 490 times in one day. In other words, keep forgiving to the point that you lose count.

So, let's allow this attribute of love guide us on how we treat others especially our fellow brethren in the faith. According to the gospel of John, it is mentioned that Jesus loved his disciples to the end - John 13:1. Show this same love to your spouse and brethren in the faith. Remember, whatever sacrifice you make to love someone to the end has a way of coming back to you.

Prayer: Everlasting Father, I give you thanks for keeping the night watch for me and the opportunity to witness a brand new day. I thank you for loving me even in my shortcomings. I ask for grace to love my brethren and family members till the end in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 21. (It Supplies The Grace to Overcome Evil With Good - 1).

"Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." (Romans 12:17,21).

It is an understatement to say that there are wicked people everywhere and around us who delight in doing evil things against others. And so many people have fallen victim of their evil schemes while so many others are experiencing one form of affliction or the other.

Usually, those who are victims seek opportunities if given to repay such people with evil. But the scripture cautions against such attitude. Rather, it says that we should not render evil for evil. It went further to say that we should overcome evil with good.

It takes only those who have the nature of the divine love of God to live by such instruction. Even large percentage of believers do just the opposite. They rain down fire and brimstone on every perceived enemy. It does not matter whether it's their father, mother or friend. Anyone who they perceive as an enemy must die.

Vengeance is the exclusive right of God. Thus, the scripture says; "Dearly beloved, AVENGE NOT YOURSELVES, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, VENGEANCE IS MINE; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head."(Romans 12:19-20).

Whoever makes himself your enemy is digging his own grave. But whenever you have the opportunity to do good to such people, go ahead and do it. If they don't repent of their evil works, God himself will bring judgment against them.

A good example is King Saul who made several attempts to kill David but God's protection was on David. David had the opportunity to kill Saul twice but spared him. In spite of the good David did to Saul, he still did not repent. And he paid with his life. So, don't attempt to kill any perceived enemy yourself. Be kind to them whenever you have the opportunity. But, if they don't repent, they will be judged by God himself that his name alone might be glorified.

Prayer: Mighty God, you alone are worthy of my praise and adoration. You are the only wise and true God. Your ways are beyond human comprehension. I ask for your grace to be kind to those who have hurt me in the past and even those who have made themselves my enemies. You will avenge me of their evil works which they do against me if they don't repent in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 22 (It Supplies The Grace to Overcome Evil With Good - 2).

"Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." (Romans 12:17,21).

It's the nature of humans to revenge or pay evil for evil. But it is not so with those who have received the love nature of God. Divine love does not pay evil for evil. Rather, it overcomes evil with good. We introduced this attribute of love yesterday. Today, we will look at a few examples from true life stories of those who put this instruction to practice and the resultant effect.

The first story I would love to discuss here is about Kenneth Hagin of blessed memory. At a time during his ministry work, another pastor whose church was located in the same town spoke so much evil about him. He never bothered one day to go and confront him.

One day, he heard that the said pastor was building a house and he offered to wall paper the house for him. He accepted thinking he wanted to do it as a contract. When he was through, the pastor asked him how much he owed him, he said nothing; that he just did it to show his love for him.

The pastor broke down in tears and started to confess how he has been speaking evil against him. He afterward asked for forgiveness which he willingly did. You can see from this example how Kenneth Hagin's good deed to the pastor who spoke evil against him brought peace and eliminated strife between the two of them.

The second example is concerning Smith Wigglesworth of blessed memery and his wife. He had backslidden from the faith at a time but his wife was still very committed. One day, he instructed the wife to stop attending weekly meetings but she declined insisting that her loyalty is first to the Lord on spiritual matters.

On a certain day, she found that her husband locked her out after she returned from a week day service. She slept outside the house in the cold. When it was daybreak, he opened the door for her expecting her to put up a little fight or quarrel. But she didn't. Rather, she asked him what kind of breakfast he would love to eat. He was shocked by the request of his wife he just mistreated but however told her to prepare his favourite breakfast.

She did just that and while he sat at the table to eat, he felt convicted of the wrong he did to her and asked for her forgiveness. In addition, he rededicated his life to Christ. This good act of love she showed to her husband not only brought him back to the faith, he became one of the greatest healing Evangelist of his day.

So, don't follow the response of your flesh when you feel someone has hurt you. The flesh always love revenge. God's word instructs us to do otherwise. And what supplies the grace is his love nature deposited in your spirit at new birth. If we yield to this love nature, it will reduce conflicts in our homes, churches and the society at large. In addition, it will make conflict resolution much easier.

Prayer: Dear Father, I thank you for the salvation of my soul. I also thank you for your provisions and divine protection. I ask for grace to always be kind to those who hurt me and device evil works against me. Let this new way of life guide my thoughts, words and actions as I continue this race in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 23 (It Minimizes Conflicts And Also Makes Conflict Resolution Easier).

"Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law." (Romans 13:10).

One of the causes of conflicts in virtually every sphere of life is when you are deliberately hurt by someone and the offender cares less about how you feel. Most of the time, there is bound to be a reaction from you which could lead to a conflict. And if the conflict at the early stage is not properly managed, it could degenerate into a violent stage.

But when you walk in divine love, you are careful not to say or do anything that will hurt the other person. And even if you mistakenly hurt anyone, you will be quick to apologize and the result is avoidance of conflict.

Walking in divine love also makes conflict resolution easier. Most conflicts that are difficult to resolve is as a result of one or both parties involved in the conflict insisting on their opinions or justifying their actions. But when you walk in love, you are ready to take the blame to make peace reign.

This was the admonition Apostle Paul gave to the church in Corinth when he was attempting to resolve the conflict amongst them. He first rebuked them for the lawsuits they filed in the court and asked; "...Why not rather just accept the wrong? Why not rather be cheated?" (1st Corinthians 6:7, International Standard Version).

It takes walking in divine love to accept blame in times of conflict just to let peace reign. Most of the divorces that have happened in many marriages could have been avoided if one or both partners were constrained by love. You don't always have to insist on your right or justify yourself especially when you know it will further worsen the conflict.

Walk in divine love at all times. Don't do anything that will hurt your brethren, neighbour or spouse. And if you mistakingly hurt anyone, be quick to apologize and make peace. It doesn't make you a weakling. Rather, it is a display of the wisdom of God which surpasses human understanding. If we all choose to walk in divine love, our homes, churches and society at large will almost be devoid of conflicts. And the result will be peace, progress and prosperity in all that we do.

Prayer: Gracious Father, be thou glorified in my life today. You are the reason why I live. Teach me to walk in love towards my brethren and neighbours so I will not do or say anything that will hurt them. Orchestrate my footstep today to the right people and the right places and bring me closer to my dreams and goals in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 24 (It Drives Out Fear).

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love." (1st John 4:18).

There is a converse relationship between love and fear. When you are in an environment full of love, fear will virtually disappear. But when you are in an environment full of hate, there is every tendency for fear to rule over you. You are afraid of receiving food from a neighbour or friend for fear of being poisoned. You do your best to secure your money when you are sharing a room with someone for fear that it could be stolen. Fear finds its full expression in an environment devoid of love.

But, it shouldn't be so with believers in Christ. When we genuinely love one another and we show it by our words and actions, fear will certainly be cast out from our hearts.

However, the context in which it is used in the opening text has to do with the fear of God's judgment. There are so many Christians who are afraid of God's judgment each time they think about eternity. So, they express their fears through songs like, 'remember me oh Lord when you come to collect your people'. Others sing songs like, 'when the saints go marching in, Lord, I want to be in that number...'

The examples of the songs above are evidences of fear. How could God forget you when you cost him the very blood of Jesus? You are not planning to make heaven; you are already a citizen of heaven.

So, if you are afraid of God's judgment, it means that God's love is not perfected in you yet. How can we tell if God's love is perfected in us? It's by the love you demonstrate for your brethren. Thus, it is written; "No man hath seen God at any time. IF WE LOVE ONE ANOTHER, God dwelleth in us, and HIS LOVE IS PERFECTED IN US." (1st John 4:12).

Demonstrating our love for one another is not in words but in deeds. It is by giving to those in need in our midst, clothe the hungry and give shelter to the homeless. Make deliberate budget for the needy from your income. You don't have to wait for someone to ask for for help before you give. Look out for those in need from time to time and be a blessing to them.

Quite a lot of people invest their finances in church projects and programmes which is good. But until you begin to minister to the poor and needy in your midst, your love is not yet perfected. You can't claim to love the God you don't see and neglect the brethren you see. Hence, it is written; "...That he who loveth God love his brother also." (1st John 4:21).

Prayer: I thank you Father for your mercy and lovingkindness towards me. I thank you also for the good plans you have for me. I have the assurance that they will be fulfilled in due season. I use this opportunity to ask for overflowing blessings so I can be an instrument of blessing to those in need around me in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 25 (It Gives You The Grace to Be Patient with Difficult People and Still Be Kind to Them).

"LOVE IS PATIENT, LOVE IS KIND, it is not envious. Love does not brag, it is not puffed up." (1st Corinthians 13:4, New English Translation).

It is an understatement to say that we encounter difficult people in our places of work and even in the church environment. And these difficult people task our patients to the point that you are tempted to quit the job or leave the church especially when the people involved are your superiors.

You also have difficult people in the family setting. Sometimes, it's your father who is the head of the family. At other times, it could be your mother, wife, husband or a close relative. Some children are also very difficult to relate with such that they are tagged, 'the black sheep of the family'.

Whoever they are and whichever way they are related to you, it takes love to patient with such people and at the same time be kind to them. A lot of people are patient with difficult people but they are not kind to them. Such kind of patient devoid of kindness is not an attribute of divine love.

Walking in divine love is the only way to conquer difficult people. A woman had a very stubborn son who always go to party and return drunk at odd hours all the time. She has tried every possible means to see that he repents of his evil ways. On several occasions, she tried to make him follow her to church but he declined.

On a certain day, she sought for prayer from Kenneth Hagin of blessed memories. Kenneth Hagin didn't pray for her but counseled her to just show him love the way he is. So, on a certain day, he came back from a party drunk as usual. The mother opened the door for him and prepared water for him to take his bath. She also prepared a very good meal for him. For the first time, she didn't yell at him. And her son though drunk noticed so much change in his mother's attitude towards him.

The next morning, she got dressed and told her son she was leaving for church service. Her son told her to wait for him, that he wants to join her for worship the very first time. He went to church, heard a life changing message and surrendered his life to Christ. This is the power of love.

So, whoever the difficult person is in your life, just find a way to show undeserved kindness to him or her, you will be amazed at how his or her attitude will change. This is why our Lord Jesus said; "...Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, DO GOOD TO THEM that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." (Matthew 5:44).

Prayer: Dear Father, I thank you for another wonderful day. I am alive because of your grace and mercy. I ask for your grace to be patient with difficult people in my life and do good to them at the same time in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 26. (It's One Of The Secrets of Long Life).

"... Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him, and KEEP HIM ALIVE; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies."(Psalms 41:1-2).

One of the benefits of walking in divine love is long life. This is explicitly stated in the opening text. It says that those who considers the poor will be kept alive. God knows that the destiny of so many is tied to your good works. So, he will ensure that you live to a full old age before you sleep in the Lord.

It was the petitions that widows who have been blessed by Dorcas that contributed to her being raised from the dead through Peter. The scripture said; "Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up."(Acts 9:39-40).

The writer of Proverbs said; "My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee."(Proverbs 3:1-2). The verse just quoted established a correlation between keeping commandments and long life. In the same sense, keeping the new commandment of love that Jesus brought will give you long life.

God loves a cheerful giver especially those who give alms to the poor and needy. So, be full of good works and almsdeed. As you do, God will ensure that you live to a good old age that his name alone might be glorified.

Prayer: Father in heaven, hallowed be thy name. I give you glory and honour due to your name. I receive grace to always give to the poor and needy around me from the much you have blessed me. As I do, multiply my seed sown and increase my capacity to give more in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 23. (It's Brings Unity which in Turn Translates into Productivity).

"That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me." (John 17:21).

One of the heartfelt prayer of our Lord Jesus for his church is that we all may be one in him. And it takes walking in divine love to achieve this both in the church and in our homes. It's only a family or a church that is united that can achieve great feat. Division has crippled the progress of most churches and homes.

It's therefore imperative that the subject of love be taught from time to time as repetition is the law of deep and lasting impression. As long as we are still living in our old flesh, there is bound to be conflict between the flesh and the spirit.

It's however our responsibility to put the flesh under control. And the only way to do so is to walk in divine love. This is what Apostle Paul meant when he said; "...Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." (Galatians 5:16).

A united family and church or any other institution has the potential to accomplish much. This is evident in the story of the men of old who had a dream to build a tower that will get to heaven. Even God himself testified saying; "...Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do." (Genesis 11:6).

One of the instruments the devil uses to destroy the church and family is division. And so many people easily yield themselves to be used by the devil to cause division without knowing it. You don't have to agree with every decision taken in a home or in a church. But, it's not an opportunity to cause division. Apostle Paul warned; "If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are." (1st Corinthians 3:17).

The word defile in the verse above means to waste or destroy the church through any means. And Paul was making allusion to the division in the Corinthian church when he made that statement. So, don't allow yourself to be used as an instrument to destroy the church. Even if you leave for another church, don't say evil things about the church you just left for God will not hold you guiltless.

Therefore, "...stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel... having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind." (Philippians 1:27, 2:2).

Prayer: Gracious and merciful Father, you are highly exalted above all gods. I thank you for keeping the night watch for me and the opportunity to see a brand new day. I pray for unity in our families and churches that your perfect will be achieved in our lives in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 28. (Right Atmosphere For The Effective Manifestation of Gifts of The Holy Spirit).

"But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way. Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy." (1st Corinthians 12:31,14:1).

The manifestations of the gifts of the Holy Spirit has been given to the church to build it up. These gifts of the Spirit are listed in the twelfth chapter of the book of First Corinthians. And they are; word of wisdom, word of knowledge, gifts of healing, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, divers kinds of tongues and the interpretation of tongues. They are nine in number.

Apostle Paul wrote to the church that they should desire these spiritual gifts. However, he said that there is an excellent way or a better way to get these gifts to operate. And that better way is the way of love. Hence, he wrote; "Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy." (1st Corinthians 14:1). In other words, before you desire spiritual gifts, ensure you are walking in divine love. Live a life that is constrained by the love of God.

It's a very dangerous thing to be gifted or have these gifts manifest through you when you are not fully grounded and rooted in love. It will destroy you and also destroy the church. This is why the ministry of so many gifted servants of God crash after a while. Others have their lives cut short.

The Holy Spirit is a gentle Spirit. This is why he descended in bodily form like a dove upon Jesus when he was baptized. You can't yield yourself to Him and at the same time open the door for the devil to operate. The result will be confusion and evil works of darkness.

So, it's imperative as brethren that we walk in divine love so that the gifts of the Holy Spirit can operate freely and bless us as a church. There are so many congregations that you don't even experience any of the manifestation of gifts of the Holy Spirit partly because they don't walk in love and also because they don't desire it.

Let's walk in love and desire these spiritual gifts. Never allow pride to get into you when some of the gifts begin to manifest through you. If you do, it will destroy you and cause strife in the church. And the scripture says; "For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work." (James 3:16).

Prayer: Dear Lord, I am grateful for the gift of life and the opportunity to see another day. Thank you for your faithfulness and tender mercies. I also thank you for the gifts of the
Holy Spirit given to the church. As I desire that they manifest through me, I pray that your love will constrain me never to let pride into my life or take the glory for it in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16).

We live in a very wicked world. And this wickedness has crept into the church also. The scripture describes those who denies their fellow brethren help as wicked especially when it's within their power to help and refuse to do so. It added that such act is tagged as a sin before God

Thus, Moses warned those who refuse to help the poor saying; "Beware that there be not a thought IN THY WICKED HEART, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and IT BE SIN UNTO THEE." (Deuteronomy 15:9).

James also wrote; "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, TO HIM IT IS SIN. And it could stand against you on judgment day as clearly revealed in the parable of the sheep and goat. So many Christians will end up in hell because of this. Don't let it happen to you.

So, learn to minister to the need of the poor and needy in your midst. Such good works makes you shine as lights in the midst of wicked and perverse generation. Moses instructed the Jews concerning helping the poor saying; "THOU SHALT SURELY GIVE HIM, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him..."(Deuteronomy 15:10).

Our Lord Jesus also said; "Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away." (Matthew 5:42). It was the outcry of Jesus to Jews during his earthly ministry to help the poor. He said they should do so even to the point of selling their possessions - Luke 12:33.

Apostle Paul also wrote; "Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality." (Romans 12:13). In fact, he committed most part of his ministry to ensure that the needs of the poor brethren are met. He personally supervised the contributions to this effect - 1st Corinthians 16:1-3.

The church needs to be reawakened to the need to make helping the poor a priority. Such good works beams our lights to the people of the world and glorifies God's name.

The good news about committing ourselves to helping the poor and needy is that it opens the door for more blessings. Just as Moses told the Jews; ".. because that for this thing the LORD THY GOD SHALL BLESS THEE in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto." (Deuteronomy 15:10).

Even the young rich ruler who walked away sad when he was told to sell his goods and give to the poor would have become much richer. This is evident in what Jesus told his disciples after he walked away. He said; "Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall RECEIVE AN HUNDREDFOLD NOW in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life."(Mark 10:29-30).

Let's begin to beam our lights by supporting the poor and needy around us. You don't even have to know them from Adam to help. This is evidently taught in the parable of the good Samaritan. Thus the scripture says; "Be not forgetful to ENTERTAIN STRANGERS: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares" (Hebrews 13:2).

Prayer: Mighty God, be glorified this beautiful morning. I thank you for the salvation of my soul and your loving care. Lord, I ask for overflowing blessings so I can have more than enough to support the poor and needy around me in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 30. (We Will Help One Another Up The Ladder of Success).

"Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved." (1st Corinthians 10:33).

In the journey of life, we need one another to succeed in our God given vision. We do know that there are evil people everywhere who deliberately work against your progress. But it shouldn't be so in the house of God.

Ironically, some of those who fight you are supposedly Christians. When you tell them your dreams and goals thinking they will rejoice with you, they begin to work against you behind the scene. There are also those in your family who fight you because of your dream in just the same way the brothers of Joseph sold him to slavery apparently to kill his dream.

Quite a few others just mock at your temporary setbacks even within the church. It shouldn't be. We have been called to walk in love. Instead of finding ways to destroy the dream of your fellow brother in the faith, find ways to help him move up the ladder of success.

Apostle Paul in the opening text said that all he did was for the profit of the church that they might be saved. He wasn't talking about being saved from sin because they were already saved in that sense. He was talking about their well being in every area of life. And this includes their health and prosperity.

Ministers who have experienced a measure of breakthrough in ministry should help younger ministers up the ladder of success in ministry. Even if they end up doing better than you, it is to the glory of God.

If you have any information like job opportunity, empowerment scheme or scholarship opportunity, let your brethren know about it. If you have a good business idea that could profit them, share it with them. And stop believing negative things you hear about your brethren. Don't spread them either. The devil uses this strategy to destroy the church and impede our success.

Only very few people get to the top of the ladder of success because we push others who are trying to climb up down instead of helping them up the ladder. And this is why we have very few billionaires in the body of Christ. This is because those who push others down cannot also get to the top. But each time you help others up the ladder, you also climb to a new level of success.

The body of Christ must come to the realization that we are one in Christ. Adherents of other religion give support to their members but the church do just the opposite in most cases. But God is calling us to repentance and to show genuine love for one another. So, whatever level of success you have achieved, help others to move up also. As you do, God will also connect you with those who will help you move up to your next level.

Prayer: Everlasting Father, I ascribe all glory and honour to your holy name. I thank you for counting me worthy to be a part of your kingdom. Use me as an instrument to help others achieve their dreams and goals. As I do, I pray that you will connect me with those who will help me actualize my dreams also in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The Importance of Walking in Divine Love - 31. (It Will Place a Mark of Identification on You).

"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." (John 13:34-34).

We are living in days where people find it difficult to identify a true believer in Christ. To some, it's a function of your dress code. For instance, if a lady wears a long skirt, she is most likely to be a Christian. This is far from the truth even though every true believer ought to be decently dressed. To others, it's about the level of anointing upon people's life such that they can even raise the dead. But these are not the criteria for knowing who a true Christian is.

There is of course the initiation process of becoming a Christian which Apostle Paul spelt out in Romans 10:9-10. First, you must believe in your heart that Jesus died for you and that God raised him up on the third day to justify you. Lastly, open your mouth and confess him as your Lord and Saviour. The moment you follow these steps, you will be saved or born again.

But so many people have done it and you still can't differentiate them from unbelievers. One of the reasons is because they did not believe IN THEIR HEARTS that Jesus died for them. Your belief must come from your heart otherwise your confession of the Lordship of Christ will be meaningless. However, if you are truly born again, there must be visible manifestation of your conversion.

Our Lord Jesus said in the opening passage that the yardstick to identify true Christians is the love they have for the brethren. And this love is displayed in how we support the poor and needy brethren in our midst. It is also extended to the orphans, fatherless, homeless and widows. It therefore means that if you are not practically involved in ministering to the poor and needy brethren, you are not a true believer.

John the beloved threw more light on this when he wrote; "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." (1st John 4:7-cool. Notice what John said. He said if you don't show love to your brethren, you don't know God. And that invariably makes you a misfit for the kingdom of heaven.

So, it's not enough to pay your tithe, give quality offerings, sow big seeds in church and partner with one arm of the ministry or the other. You must also make budget to help the poor and needy brethren. The early church did it to the point of liquidating their assets. Let's repent and begin to show compassion to the needy in our midst. This love you show to your brethren is what identifies you as a true disciple of Christ. And it will stand to justify you on judgment day.

Prayer: Dear Father, I thank you for your mercy, grace and faithfulness towards me. Thank you for watching over me and my family. Whatever I am now is by your grace. And I know that you will be with me till the end of time. I pray for financial open doors so I can be a blessing to the poor and needy around me in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Our Inheritance In Christ - 1.

"In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will."(Ephesians 1:11).

Inheritance simply means what one is entitled to inherit. And it could be by birth, tradition, law or by a written will. By virtue of our union with Christ, we have obtained an inheritance. This will be the focus of our study this month. It's imperative you know what is rightfully yours so that you will not be cheated you out of them.

The value of inheritance is proportional to the worth of the one you got the inheritance from. God is the source of our inheritance. And since God is unlimited in resources, our inheritance also has no limit. We are the ones who set the limit by the faith we put to work.

When God called Abraham and promised him an inheritance, he told him; "I am giving all this land, as far as you can see, to you and your descendants as a permanent possession." (Genesis 13:15, The New Living Translation).

God didn't place a limit to the inheritance he promised Abraham. The limit was determined by the faith of Abraham. He told Abraham he has given him as far as he could see. In the same sense, our inheritance in Christ has no limit. How much of what belongs to you that you enjoy is a function of your faith. If you can see it, you can have it.

Thus, Paul wrote; "Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the UNSEARCHABLE RICHES of Christ."(Ephesians 3:cool. The phrase, 'unsearchable riches' is translated.'ENDLESS TREASURES' in the New Living Translation. Our Inheritance In Christ is indeed an endless treasure.

Apostle Peter affirmed this truth when he wrote; "According as his divine power hath GIVEN UNTO US ALL THINGS that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue."2nd Peter 1:3).

So, in the mind of God, all things are yours. Like I said before, how much of it you enjoy depends on your faith. It also depends on the level of your spiritual maturity. We will throw more light on what I mean by the level of your spiritual maturity tomorrow.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, you are worthy to be praised and adored this beautiful morning. You are my refuge and strength, a present help in time of trouble. I thank you for qualifying me to partake of the inheritance we have in Christ. I commit my day into your mighty hand trusting you for a fruitful day in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Our Inheritance In Christ - 2.

"Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father." (Galatians 4:1-2).

We said yesterday that your faith and spiritual maturity determines how much of the inheritance you have in Christ eventually becomes yours. The role spiritual maturity plays in obtaining your inheritance can be better understood when we look at the role physical maturity plays in the natural world.

The opening text says that an heir as long as he is a child is not different from a servant even though he owns everything. And this is very true. If a man dies and lives a huge inheritance behind for a child of 7 years old, that child will not be allowed access to the wealth until he is of age.

This is how it plays out also in the things of the spirit. There are so many spiritual babies in the house of God. They can't access their inheritance until they grow up in the things of the spirit. For instance, someone who is arguing about paying tithe is a spiritual baby.
There are wealth he can never access until he practically engage the principle of tithing.

In the same sense, a believer who seldom participate financially in church projects and programmes is not ready for uncommon financial miracles. Spiritual maturity shows itself in your attitudes toward spiritual things. This includes, your prayer life, study life, attitude in your service to God, response to the word of God you hear, regular service attendance, participation in soul winning activities and giving habit.

So, in other to grow to maturity, God places you under teachers and pastors until the time appointed by God. But to so many, that appointed time never comes because they are unwilling to learn and grow. The choice is yours. If you want to enjoy your rich inheritance in Christ, make deliberate effort to grow up in the things of God. At the appointed time, God will ensure that the inheritance that is yours is released to you.

Prayer: Dear Father, I thank you for your the entrance of your word that gives light. Fill me with the knowledge of your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding that I may fully grasp the endless treasures available for me in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Our Inheritance In Christ - 3.

"For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich." (2nd Corinthians 8:9).

In the realm of the spirit, everything we need for life has been provided by God. And prosperity is one of them. The opening text says that Jesus became poor so that we through his poverty might be rich.

There are quite a few people who say that the scripture is referring to spiritual poverty. Jesus was never poor spiritually. If he was, he wouldn't have been able to perform the miracles he did. But we know that he experienced physical poverty relative to the glory he had in heaven before he came down to earth. There was a time he had no place to lay his head. At a certain time, he was hungry.

God is not against prosperity. It is his will that we prosper. Just as John wrote; "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." (3rd John 2).

The first man, Adam was created after everything he needed was already made available. He entered into prosperity from the first day. He was was placed in the Garden of Eden which had everything he needed for food. His duty was just to dress the garden. He however lost the opportunity to live in plenty when he sinned against God and was driven from the garden.

The fall of man brought poverty to mankind when God cursed the ground. But the sacrifice Noah offered after the flood reversed the cursed and the opportunity to prosper was restored. Thus, God said to Noah; "While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease."(Genesis 8:22).

It was however through Abraham that God made a promise to bless the world again. He told Abraham, "And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed." (Genesis 12:2-3).

To bless means to empower to prosper. So God promised to prosper Abraham and the families of the earth through him. And that promise has been fulfilled in Christ. As it is written; "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." (Galatians 3:29).

The prosperity certainly will not show up overnight. Your responsibility is to understand the principles that governs prosperity and put it to work. As you do, the wealth that is already yours will locate you that the name of God might be glorified.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I worship you in the beauty of holiness. You alone deserve the glory, honour and adoration. I thank you for making me a candidate of blessing in Christ. I declare that the wealth you have made available to me in Christ will locate me in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Our Inheritance In Christ - 4.
(The Role of Faith - 1).

"For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it."(Hebrews 4:2).

So far, we have established the fact that we have obtained an inheritance in Christ. We also said that everything we need for life has already been provided for us but how much of it we enjoy is a function of our faith and spiritual maturity.

Yesterday, we said that prosperity is one of our inheritance in Christ. Those who criticize prosperity preachers do so out of ignorance even though the message of prosperity is sometimes blown out of proportion.

Today, we will begin to look at some of the principles that governs prosperity and how to put them to work. The opening text says that the gospel couldn't profit the saints of old because they did not mix it with faith. We will examine the role faith plays in ensuring that we enjoy the wealth that is ours in Christ.

Your first responsibility is to believe the word of God you hear concerning prosperity. You must receive it like a little child especially when you know that the vessel God is using to deliver the message is a man or woman of integrity. That doesn't mean that you will accept all they say hook line and sinker. It is imperative you compare what you are taught with the word of God through diligent study.

So, the first step is to believe God's word with your heart. Don't try to figure it out with your senses because the things of God are foolishness to the carnal man or carnal mind. How can you figure out how two loaves of bread and five fishes could feed over five thousand people? How can you explain how water could turn into wine?

Your positive response to the word of God you hear is the starting point for your miracle even in the area of finance. Peter toiled all night in an attempt to catch fishes but he caught nothing. Our Lord Jesus told him; "...Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught." (Luke 5:4).

Peter responded thus; "... Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: NEVERTHELESS AT THY WORD I will let down the net." (Luke 5:5). When he let down his net, the scripture said, "... they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink." (Luke 5:6-7).

Even though Peter's faith produced results, he didn't completely believe the Lord. Our Lord Jesus asked him to let down his NETS as in many nets but Peter only let down ONE NET. He would have gotten a much bigger miracle. All the same, his faith produced result. He didn't allow his senses to get in the way. How could Jesus who doesn't have a fishing experience tell him how to catch fishes would have been his thought.

If you want to experience financial freedom, start by believing what God's word says concerning finance. It may not appeal to your senses. But as long as the instruction is in line with God's word, it will produce miracles even beyond your expectations.

Prayer: Immortal God, invisible God, how great thou art. The heavens declare your glory and the earth unveils the wonders of your works. I thank you for the life you have given me in Christ. I know that the wealth you have provided for me in Christ will locate me over time in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Our Inheritance In Christ - 5.
(The Role of Faith - 2).

"Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper." (2nd Chronicles 20:20).

We began to discuss the role faith plays in obtaining our inheritance in Christ with specific focus on financial and material wealth. Today, we will look at a few more examples to buttress my points.

During the period of famine in Isreal, God sent Prophet Elijah to a widow who lived in the city of Zarephath to sustain him while the famine lasted. When he got there, he saw the widow gathering a few sticks and said to her, "... Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand." (1st Kings 17:11). As she went, Elijah called her back and said, "...Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand." (1st Kings 17:11).

She responded; "As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die." (1st Kings 17:12). She was in deep poverty and her story revealed why she was poor. She had lived her life making provisions for just she and her son. God was not in her budget and no one else was in her budget.

This is the story of most Christians. Whenever they receive money, they consume it on themselves and their families alone. They do not pay tithe, neither do they give quality offerings or even sow into people's lives. Well, Elijah knowing how kingdom principle works told her; "...Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth."(1st Kings 17:13-14).

She believed the word of Elijah, did as she was told and her poverty was turned into abundance. She had enough to eat and also provide for Elijah throughout the period of the famine. Elijah taught the widow the principle of firstfruit and it worked for her.

Don't be afraid to give even in difficult times. The scripture says; "He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap." (Ecclesiastes 11:4). We have an advantage over the people of the world in trying moments. So, we should not cry like they do. Just look for good opportunities to sow your seeds. It could be to your man of God, or on the altar of God. You can also give to a brother or sister in need. God has a way of ensuring that the seed you sow comes back to you in multiple proportions and increase your capacity to give over time.

Prayer: Holy Father, how great thou art. I thank you for yet another beautiful day. I thank you for keeping me safe under the shelter of your wings. Unveil the truth of your word to me that will launch me into my glorious inheritance in Christ in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Our Inheritance In Christ - 6
(The Role of Faith - 3).

"And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar. In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee." (1st Kings 3:4-5).

Financial and material wealth is part of our inheritance in Christ. But faith plays a role in ensuring that you obtain the wealth that is already yours. It will certainly not happen overnight. But if you mix God's word you hear with faith, you will gradually launch yourself into wealth.

Another good example we will use to illustrate the role of faith is the unusual offering King Solomon offered upon the altar. The scripture said; "And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar." (1st Kings 3:4).

The verse before said that Solomon loved the Lord and walked in the statutes of David his father. No wonder he offered such a staggering amount of sacrifice. The level of your giving to anyone is proportional to the love you have for that person. So each time you give to God, you are invariably telling God the much you love him.

In addition, he was a student of the word. His father David taught him so many things which definitely include how to honour God with quality sacrifice. This is why Pastors should always from time to time teach members how to give quality offerings. It is for their own prosperity. You can't be richer than the level of your giving.

However, the offering got the attention of God that he couldn't even wait till morning hour to communicate with King Solomon. He gave King Solomon a blank cheque in the dream; Thus, it is written; "In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee."(1st Kings 3:5).

King Solomon responded by asking God for wisdom to lead the nation of Israel. God was shocked he did not ask for wealth or the life of his enemies. God gave him his request and in addition, wealth that was uncommon in his days.

This miracle of wealth King Solomon received started with the unusual offering King Solomon offered to God. It takes faith to do what Solomon did. Sometimes, it's important we deviate from the norms and give unusual offerings to God. It's not out of place to set aside a service for unusual offerings. King Solomon was so rich that the scripture said that he gathered gold like dust. A later offering he offered was so much that the one thousand burnt sacrifice looked like a child's play - 1st Kings 8:63.

We give too little and this is one of the reasons a large percentage of the church is yet to experience breakthrough in the area of finance. We are too conscious of who is eating our offerings or what it is being used for. Take your attention away from the administration of offering you give and focus on your expectations.

Begin to make plans to start giving unusual offerings. As you do, God will also open uncommon doors of financial favour for you like he did for King Solomon. Remember, the scripture says; "...He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." (2nd Corinthians 9:6, Galatians 6:7).

Prayer: Glorious God, be thou magnified in my life. There is none holy as thou art. You are the only true and wise God. Guide me through the journey of life by your Spirit and your word so I can be what you want me to be in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

The love of God for us

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

When Adam sinned, he lost the direct access he initially had with God. (Genesis 3) God decided to send his only begotten son (Jesus) to pay the price for our sins on the cross of calvary because of his love for us. When Christ resurrected, he restored all privileges that we once had and brought redemption to us all. All we need is to believe that he died for our sin and has once again granted us direct access with God. No longer through an intermediary! (Mathew 27:50-53).

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

If our earthly parents care so much for us, how much more our father in heaven! (Luke 11:11-13). God’s love for us is infinite. He has promised to supply all our needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philipians 4:19).

Prayer of Salvation

Lord Jesus, I accept and acknowledge you as my personal lord and savior. I sincerely ask that you forgive my sins. Come into my life and pour out your spirit on me. By faith, I receive the promise of the father, which is the holy spirit. (John 14:16) I thank you for the price that you paid for me on the cross of calvary. Thank you for my redemption. I pray that your power, grace and favor will abide with me now and forever more. Amen.
