Does one just go ahead with the set up on the app regardless of the service address on the account and it'll work? Service address on my account is in central area while my place is at life camp
I can't really tell though, Just used my street only, climbed the top of the roof, and voila! no obstructions. I don nail the thing down hard. But I pray make Baba God no say na down he dey come.

Did you pay to enable portability? I'm suspecting I might have the same location issue because I had to chose a random area in CBD, Abuja before I was allowed to make full payment. I know there is service where I'll be installing it in life camp but then, I don't know if they instantly allow one to change the service location.

I enabled it for less than 24 hours. I changed my service address in the early hours of this morning and it worked. Turned off portability immediately and sent a message to support that everything was working then closed the ticket. It’s been working fine all day.

@Ibawon - Did you resolve to use any DSTV mount for your Starlink dish? I was wondering if anyone used a DSTV mounting pole or anything improvising close to it.

I don mount for my roof. No buffering. All streams and download dey fly downloaded a 3gb file in 9 minutes. Since my Ogas said the speed will still increase. I swear I don't care.

I was wrong at 100watt.
At night, using only batteries, I checked my house watt usage and it was 112watts. Thats the entire house. The things on in the house giving that 112 watts are: 2 TVs (not sure if other guy put on his own, but mine was on), 3 dstv decoders, 4 energy bulbs, My android Box for tv (left streaming with tv on), and Starlink actively running all internet appliances.

All of this was eating 112 watts.

How much of all of that do you think starlink was consuming?
Their site says 40watts, but i believe it may go lower than that at times from what I am seeing.

With all of these appliances on, I sleep with my battery at 25.8v and by morning it is down to only 25.2v. That is still like 95% of battery.

does all this really matter?

I can't understand why Starlink keeps shipping used dishes to us. It was the same experience I had with my first order. It looked used and very dusty. And because of the abysmal performance, I believed it was defective, and that was why I had to return it and got refunded.

I had hoped that my new order would come with a brand new dish, but given that they are still shipping used dishes to us, I doubt my new order will come with a brand new dish.

I intend to go get it from their office tomorrow morning, and if I am not satisfied with the looks and performance, I will return it and won't be getting another again.

Hi did you go to their office as intended? How much is it? Is there an option to pay in naira at the office?

Yeah, so I went to DHL's office day before yesterday and collected it. Though it looked used; it was dusty, dirty and all. But it's been performing well so far, no issues. I mounted it on my roof and view of the sky from there is 100%, no obstructions at all.

Concerning cost, it's been discussed severally on the Starlink's threads on here. It costs $587.93, and No, you can't pay with naira cards, only dollar denominated cards. If you don't have dollar card, you may sign up for a virtual dollar card, like PayDay, Chipper, Klasha. Starlink recommends PayDay though.

And No, you can only purchase Starlink through its website at https://www.starlink.com

Thank you. I was thinking since there’s an office here, they can sell from the office and also collect naira just like other internet providers.

For the router, split the 2.4/5GHz network under advanced settings.

For the laptop, you need to go into driver manager settings and select the 5GHz band.

My own is giving location error. On the billing address, my address is correct. On service address it just shows federal capital territory abuja.

I tried to change it and kept getting we are at capacity right now. Try again later

EDIT

I have opened support ticket because it seems this dishy has been setup somewhere in Kuje before because that seems to be where it expects itself to be. I have also enabled portability for now (So that allows me browse for now, until they resolve the matter). My first speed test gave me 31Mbps UP and 6Mbps Down.

Expecting it to improve with time. Now I need to figure out how to pass this cable into the house.

With the help of google map, you can get the PLUSCODE address of your exact location. Copy and paste this in the location.
this will work

So i installed my Starlink today. It was an herculean task. I had to employ the service of a roofer and rented Scaffold to climb the roof. He installed at the center of my flat roof and then bore a hole into my POP and passer the cable straight into our Master room. It's a mess but I'll have it maintained. Setting up was quick and then I did a speed test. I was getting between 18 - 25 mbps. Though I saw a message saying it's gathering data on obstruction (I have zero obstructions by the way) and will caliberate and speed might be better in 6 hours.

Later I went into the advanced speed test and got the below result. So now I'm confused with the 3 test results.
Direct test is 18 - 25mbps
WiFi Speed (Device to WiFi Router) is about 45mbps
Starlink Speed (Router to internet) is 200mbps

What's preventing me from accessing the Starlink speed on my device?

You can let it gather the data then see if there are obstructions. As long as it's mounted correctly, it should be good.

Abeg, who has used other Virtual USD service card asides Payday to order for Starlink

Payday is in a mess.. They sent a message that we should open another USD account that they are currently habit issues with their vendors blah blah and that our current balance would be transferred to the new USD account (I av about $62).

Now, I av opened another USD account since 4weeks ago and no response yet. Message I got was that they will get back to me when approved. I have chatted their agents 100 times, no solution

Now, I want to order for Starlink as and I don't want trouble or a situation where my naira will hang or won't be able to do monthly subscription

It already finished gathering the data yesterday and there was no obstructions. But speed hadn't improved as at yesterday when I left the site. I'll go back today to check again.

The default WIFI network is 2.4GHz. Try creating a separate 5GHz network.

Go to Settings > WiFi configuration > Advanced and you'll see the option.

The sky looks clear, so you shouldn't have any problem. Make sure to split the 2.4 and 5ghz setting.

For speedtest, use Ookla's speedtest.net app. It's more accurate than the Starlink's app speedtest.
