A total of 2380 Corps Members have successfully completed the one year mandatory service for the 2022 Batch A Stream II service year, having fulfilled the requirements for the issuance of the Certificate of National Service (CNS).

This was made known by the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab at the State Secretariat in Osogbo on Thursday.

Abdulwahab also made it known that the NYSC is a training ground for mobilised graduates and there are bye-laws established for the achievement of the Scheme's objectives of instiling discipline and leadership qualities in the Members.

She made it known that consequent upon this, a total number of 2,413 Corps Members were inducted into the service for the Stream but only 2,380 were billed to pass out. She noted that 22 Members had their service year extended for various infractions while 11 were declared abscondees for their incessant absence from their Places of Primary Assignments for the number of period stipulated in the NYSC Bye-laws.

Abdulwahab who visited some of the local governments during the POP exercise which was low-key, thanked the Corps Members for the selfless service rendered during the service year. She stated that the impact they had made in the various host communities will forever be cherished and relived by the good people of the community.

She urged them to utilise the trainings garnered during the course of the service as they step into the larger and competitive society. She reminded them of the Skills instilled in them through the Orientation and post orientation experience and charged them never to let go of them.

Abdulwahab also charged the Corps Members to put to good use the tips and advice recieved during the recent SAED Job Advisory and Counselling (JAC) programme which held across the four zones of the State.

She reiterated that the programme was included in the winding up and passing out activities of the Scheme to help them find a good foothold in the larger society. She said the Scheme is not only interested in their one year mandatory service to the nation but also in their post service year. She therefore urged them to leverage on the trainings and words of the experts to build their career and their businesses.

"don't be afraid to start small. Every great enterprise started with a step. Therefore, do not despise little beginnings but embrace hard work, industry and fairness in all you do.

"let go of the get rich quick syndrome and commit yourself to legitimate means to achieve your dream. I wish you all the best in your endeavours. Remember, I love you all and always will", she said.

Abdulwahab also appreciated Corps Employers and the good people of Osun State for embracing the Members and treating them like their kin. She thanked the field officers for discharging their duty of being in locoparentis to the Corps Members well and urged them to keep up the good work.

A visit also to Osogbo and Olorunda Local Government Areas saw Corps Members basking in euphoria as they thanked God for a successful service year.

Many of the passing out Corps Members expressed their immense gratitude to God for seeing them through the service year; also, to the State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab and the NYSC officials at large for a job well done in seeing to it that they had a wonderful service year in Osun State.

Congratulations!

After receiving my certificate of completion back then and while people where rejoicing, I found myself on one corner crying simply because I had no vision of what to do afterwards.
