chatinent: Let’s talk about this topic you have just addressed without prejudice. Can we? It baffles me when i see the Igbos addressing this sensitive issue with levity. Would Igbos have voted for an igbo man who had used derogatory names(Yamirin) to refer to his own people(The Igbos) in the past and his mother happens to be a Yoruba woma? Would you? You and i know that the Igbos we all know won’t vote for such person. So why are Igbos trying to force this particular guy down d Yorubas’ throats? A typical case study here is Okorocha, the Igbos hate that guy cos his association with the North. The Igbos even refer to him as “Ewuhausa” cos his mom is an Hausa woman. Just imagine Okorocha referring to the Igbos as “Yamirin”, be honest, would the Igbos go ahead and vote for him? The answer ll surely be capital NO. Finally, if Igbos are not hate-filled people like they say, why are Igbos always oppose the choices of their hosts-The Yorubas in their own land? Why can’t Igbos work with their hosts-The Yorubas to pick the best candidate instead of going against their preferred candidates with “Block Votes” all the time. It was so bad that the Obas had to invite the Igbos in 2015 to threaten them. Can’t you see this is a provocation that ll eventually lead to war if we don’t call the Igbos to order. Let me say this before i go, either Igbos like it or not, in eventuality of war, Igbos must go after the war as seen in Sudan and South Sudan case or Pakistan and India case too. UN charter says it all, Igbos ll need to leave if separation is the only way out. However, i believe if Igbos could look inward and tell themselves some truths and begin to respect the political views of their hosts communities, peace ll reign. In UK or Europe, the white Europeans won’t stand this Igbos attitude as far as politics is concerned. Let me use Sunak UK prime minister as an example. The conservatives delegates who are 98% white people didn’t want Sunak despite the fact he was born and raised in England and speaks fluent English. They decided to pick the lady before Sunak despite the fact that Sunak is more intelligent with track record than Liz Truss(White Brit). Eventually, do you know that Conservatives MPs had to force their way through and voted for Sunak. The MPs realised that the white british conservatives delegates won’t vote for Sunak to lead them… 12 Likes 3 Shares |

alanto: Your analogy is inconsistent. The OONI is a foreigner in Brazil. No Nigerian is a foreigner in Nigeria. While Lagos isn't a No man's land, our Constitution is quiet on indigeneship. There's nothing like indigeneship in our Constitution so technically, an Ekiti man is as good or bad 'a foreigner' as a Rivers man in Lagos. It is primordial tribal sentiments (also unconstitutional) that makes the Ekiti man more 'recognized' in Lagos than a Rivers man. https://independent.ng/how-1999-constitution-resolved-indigeneship-citizenship-controversy/ |
