Egun or Gun are cousins in of Fon in Benin republic.

They represent a large part of Badagry Local governormnent area and very small part in Yewa parts of Ogun state.

Gun and Fon came from Togo and migrated towards what we now know as coastal parts of west africa. Although, FOn to some extent believe that there tribe is born as a result of inter marriage between Egun and Yorubas.

Egun in Badagry consists of several groups in it. It consists of Awori, Popo, Ajase, Ewe. The former three speak core Yorubas while the last is relative.

It was even the Awori who lumped them together and called them Egun because these groups were affiliated with Benin Republic.. The Popo, Ajase and the Ewe came to settle among their Awori brothers who were already there in Badagry. Did you know that Jandor is an Awori man from Badagry?
