My E-passport Problem: Helpsssssssssss by ovo4u(m): 3:02pm On Sep 21, 2011
My date of birth I provided is not correct during the registration of my E-Passport, what is the procedure to correct date of birth, e.g. from 10 May 1979 to 10 May 1987 or delect the E-Passport information so that I can apply for a new one here in Germany Embassy?I have proofs to show that 10 May 1987 is my true birthday as it appears on my WAEC and my old Nigeria Passport which is no more valid

The problem is that, I'm in Germany and can't travel back home to sort this out but i think my family member can help me back home but what are the steps need to be taken here?

Should my family go to Abuja so that they delect that passport so that i can get a new one from the Embassy here? or

Do they just go there and ask them to edit it on their system to the real age, so that I can apply for new Passport here by telling them I lost my E-passport?
I'm saying Abuja because that what the Embassy also told me here in Germany that they can't help me and it's only in Abuja they can help me but I got my E-Passport in Festac office Lagos.

I need my Nigeria passport so urgent right now and if anyone can really help me here to get what i need to do or the step need to be taken, then I would be one of the happiest person on earth, please no insults or why I got the wrong information at the first place, we all know the reason cos I was young then to apply for the kind of visa which i used to travel here.

One more important thing is that, I would like to beg the Moderator to take this to the front page, because it only there i could get enough help because not everyone that come on this travel forum. Pls Pls Mod. wink wink

Pls Nairaland, I know there are people here who can help me, I need your help plsssssssssssssss.

They are right IT is only in Abuja that you can rectify the information. Your family members can not help u as u have to got there yourself. This is the procedure:

Write an application to the comptroller general of immigration or whatever his rank is, asking for a change of birth date. Include all your information, as in name, old passport number, etc. Include photocopies of ur old passport, ur birth certificate, other documents to show ur real age, the copy (not photocopy) of your old passport, sign and date the letter. Then take it to them for them to authorize. It takes about 2 - 3 months. Then they call you to come and take a new picture for your passport and then you collect it when it is ready. The reason it takes so long is cos they have to wait for the consultants to make the change.

Now, i want to break the bad news to you. It is almost impossible to change birth date. They might change other details but the birth date is not easy to approve. I know someone who has been trying to change the same thing for a year now. They keep rejecting his application cos he used a fake birth certificate abi na court affidavit to get the first one. Good luck to you.

I want to state again that it is only Abuja office that can give u the passport (for change in details). Any other place is a waste of time and resources.

Re: My E-passport Problem: Helpsssssssssss by ifyalways(f): 4:52pm On Sep 22, 2011
^What else do you want undecided

Blank is 1001% correct and that is the only way out.No one else but yourself can do it . . .and only from Abuja. It could take a year or two to be processed. Its only possible if you used your real and authentic birth certificate on the one with error. If its mago mago affidavit or birth certificate you used,u berra start getting used to your new age. cheesy

Re: My E-passport Problem: Helpsssssssssss by claremont(m): 12:57pm On Sep 23, 2011
1. How did the initial "mistake" occur in the first place?

2. Is there any reason why you can't continue using the current passport you are already using?

Changing date of birth no bi easy matter oh, it raises a lot of questions. The previous posters have already advised you on what to do anyway.

Re: My E-passport Problem: Helpsssssssssss by munaco: 7:38pm On Oct 23, 2011
go back to the immigration office and complain with all ur data, but u suppose to check the data before they snap u the photo. the only problem is that they will sign the first page of ur passport and rewrite ur date of birth. always show the signature to the embassy or make reference to it when u apply to any embassy for ur real date of birth.

there are ways to go about it though difficult, but if i may ask,why are you bothering about the date of birth?do you have german stay with the old date of birth?if that is the case, you simply explain to the german authorities that the new date of birth on your epassport is the correct one.shikena

Hello everyone, I've just got a new passport after the old one expired. On the data page, it contains my expired passport number. Because the information (names) on both passports vary, will the embassy retrieve and compare the information on the two passports upon visa application? And also, will I be required to submit the old passport alongside the new one if I want to apply for a visa? Thanks for your anticipated contributions.

Seem like we are many with this passport wahala in Germany. I would be more than elated to read about someone's testimony about how his passport wahala was solved.

I equally have same problem. My first passport has my name shortened with a wrong year of birth. That's 2 issues. I ignored it. So upon renewal I requested for a change but was told to go to Abuja. Well someone now told me they can help me process it and I paid money to the agent here in Lagos.
Surprisedly, the changes I expected were not effected. I noticed that on capturing but was told by the agent that its in progress. I picked up my passport in August and the mistakes are glaring at me. So I immediately get my ass up to recitfy this in Abuja as directed by officers I met.
But was told that my name can be corrected but date of birth might not be corrected as it's a new passport.

Please do anyone have suggestions, contact or experience
