This week, we will review the eight hadith of the forty hadith of An-nawawih. For the past review, see here

Hadith 9 states:

Abu Hurayrah reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying: "Whatever I forbid you, stay away from it, and whatever I command you, do as much of it as you can. For verily, the people before you were only destroyed because of their excessive questioning and their disagreeing with their Prophets." (Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Below are some of the lessons we can derive from this hadith:

1. The importance of obedience to Allah and His Messenger: The Prophet (peace be upon him) instructed his followers to avoid what he has forbidden and to do what he has ordered to the best of their ability. This highlights the importance of following the guidance of Allah and His Messenger in our daily lives.

2. The danger of excessive questioning: The Prophet (peace be upon him) mentioned that excessive questioning and contradicting the prophets before them led to their destruction. This shows the importance of avoiding unnecessary questions and trusting in the guidance given by Allah and His Messenger.

3. The consequences of disobedience: The Prophet (peace be upon him) warned his followers of the destructive consequences of disobedience. This highlights the seriousness of disobeying Allah and His Messenger and the importance of striving to do what is right.

4. The importance of learning from the past: The Prophet (peace be upon him) referred to the destruction of those before us as a lesson to be learned from. This highlights the importance of studying history and learning from the mistakes of previous generations.

Example to your is that the Messenger of said we should perform hajj if we are able to do so. A man then asked is it every year? The Prophet remain silent, he asked again, the Messenger of Allah did not respond and he asked again. The Messenger of Allah did not answer. He then said if I have said yes it would have been compulsory for my ummah to do it every year.
Do things according to your ability. Do not ask much questions so as not to cause yourself more harm.

Science has some contradiction with religion on certain questions
Thank you for the response, but the example above is just a random question that anyone could ask, I want you to look at situations where questions asked that lead to discoveries and hypothesis, conspiracies etc... Some of them bring about scientific breakthrough. Without them we might be limited to the old ways.

Please, i have a question.

Is it proper to pray with ones hand hanging, i thought this was normal until a couple of days when someone told me it's not good. I have seen hundreds of people do it. I do it do sometimes. Checking google, i saw that it's a bad thing that one's hands are supposed to be on the chest. Never knew it was mandatory. Any clarification will be helpful

As scholars interpret this, some questions are deemed unnecessary. One of my teachers, Ustadh Eleyinke, gave a scenario of what happened between Prophet Musa and the children of Israel. When they were asked to sacrifice a cow, they kept questioning the Prophet about the specifics such as the color, height, and weight of the camel until Allah recommended a very expensive solution known as sofroy.

Example of excessive questioning is to start asking why is Subh ,morning prayer, is 2 rakahs and not 4 rakahs like Zuhr, afternoon prayer.
Another one is to start questioning the decree of Allah (SWA).

in as much as your explanation above is acceptable, but note example above is unreasonable and not excessive questions..... We need to clearify the two.
