According to what the europeans documented from the oyo prople about ife in 1824, the oyo people referred to the ife people as strong idol worshipers unlike them, they saw the ife people as monks who were devoted to their idol worshipping and as such the oyo people revered and believed the ife people could be the centre of the world, for this single reason, it gave importance to ife town in the formation of yoruba history prior to amalgamation.
