Help Me, My Mother Does Not Think Pos Is A Job. by victooman: 11:22am On Sep 22
Good day nairalanders, After my Nysc in 2021, I started a Pos business that has been very profitable and gives me a maximum profit of 10k and a minimum profit of 6k a day, l Carter for all my bills and live well...
The major issue is that my mother keep emphasizing on getting a job and doesn't for once regard this business as anything..
I have try to make her see reasons but she just choose to remain adamant,, how many of this so called jobs can pay me what this business is paying me? how can l convince my mother that l want to expand my business and marry without so much emphasis on job here and there l am tired abeg...

She’s not interested in whatever you make from the POS
She just wants to be a proud mom who’s daughter graduated and got a white collar job than having graduate daughter who’s doing POS with random people that hasn’t been to the four walls of a university
To her she wasted money training you in school
She for kuku use the money start POS for you from day one
That’s how she’s reasoning it
Country hard my sister it’s even better you chose to be self employed than doing olosho
Just pray to have an understanding boyfriend that would turn you to a wife then you leave and enlarge your business just like you said

Tell her you just want to be a boss of yourself, what you are doing can be categorized as a small scale business under entrepreneurship. Tell her very soon you'll expand and be employing people to manage some part
Re: Help Me, My Mother Does Not Think Pos Is A Job. by wittywriter: 11:30am On Sep 22
Yes it's not a job but a small venture but if strategiclly situated and managed you can explore and invest into other more sustainable ventures.
POS venture will phaseout with time just like phonebooth/phone centers.
victooman:Funny comment below...
Taylor92:What makes you conclude that OP is a female? Just like peeps reference to me as bro...lolz...SMH
victooman:So many peeps gender-base some ventures or professions erroneously.
victooman:Keep the grind and remain financially intelligent.
victooman:@OP you seem to need some business and money management orientation for you to think you need capital to expand....having multiple income means as you are now should be easier since you already have a paying pos business.
Re: Help Me, My Mother Does Not Think Pos Is A Job. by victooman: 11:32am On Sep 22
Taylor92:l am a man bro,, that reason u posted their sound archaic, l should ditch a 6k business a day for probably 70k job to look good to her friends,,, ?? 😒
Re: Help Me, My Mother Does Not Think Pos Is A Job. by victooman: 11:34am On Sep 22
wittywriter:Thank u,, expanding wont be a problem once the capital is there
Re: Help Me, My Mother Does Not Think Pos Is A Job. by Taylor92: 11:36am On Sep 22
I posted what your mom might be reasoning as an African woman
That wasn’t my own reasoning knowing how hard the country is
And you call it archaic
Since my reasoning is archaic and you know it all why them did you bring it up on a public forum
Na that POS go kaput you since you no get sense
You probably graduated with a pass or third class hence you couldn’t secure a job
Go and refund your mom her money she wasted on your education
Re: Help Me, My Mother Does Not Think Pos Is A Job. by Reminderz: 11:39am On Sep 22
victooman:it seems you're more wiser than your mom... quit your business and go work as a slave for someone else working for peanuts?? with the time you have, you can even venture into other things, not you putting on a slave suit waking up and eating when a particular person says so... smh... it's true, age doesn't equal wisdom...
think outside the box, see of other side things you can do as well... in your free time, you can also learn some skills you can monetize... if you're earning that much as you said, you are better of than most graduates, most especially in this country... your mom is ashamed of your business because to her pos business sounds like it's for the less privileged... smh... she feels putting on a white suit and working as a slave is better in order to impress people who don't care about you or her...

The massage she is trying to pass is that you shouldn't settle or get relaxed with that POS stuff.
Yes the fund you are getting from it might be okay at the moment but the biz isn't sustainable as govt policy can drag it to extinction.
You might need to start targeting another biz or profession to run concurrently.

Re: Help Me, My Mother Does Not Think Pos Is A Job. by Kobicove(m): 11:58am On Sep 22
So long as it's paying your bills stick with it but make sure that you start early to invest your profits in good assets and possible expansion of the business to include other services.
All it takes is just one government policy or a new innovation in the tech world to knock off POS business, bear in mind that there was a time when people were making a lot of money from business call centres and cybercafes therefore you need to be pro active and think of the future

Re: Help Me, My Mother Does Not Think Pos Is A Job. by Nonexisting: 4:48pm On Sep 22
The answer to the issue is simple. Double your hustle and prove her wrong. My father once cried that I wasn't able to secure a job after training me in school. My elder brother was not doing so well in business too. When I told him I wanted to start a building contractor firm, he advised that I kept searching for good job that one day God would bless me. Today, he is happy I didn't listen to his advice. Prove them wrong brother and see them sing a new song. You see that your POS business, package am well and diversify as well. If not that I know myself well, I would be thinking I did money ritual in my dreams but whenever I remember the degree of my hustle, I get rest of mind. This life is not too hard, just stay your lane and hustle without minding where your mates currently are or what people are saying. The only time you unlock your ears is when someone is talking business. Cheers brother.

victooman:Bro please educate me on how to begin this POS thing, what capital do I need to kick-start it and is it advisable to begin it with someone else? Because I already have a job and want to invest in POS as a side hustle, but wont be able to do it myself because of time.
Please advise me on it.

I think you need to seat her down and let her know what you are trying to explain to her
And assure her that your proceed can cater for you and your family wjwk you marry
That's why you are planning on expanding your business
That work is not easy to come by and what you are getting is equivalent to those working amd you still have your freedom
Re: Help Me, My Mother Does Not Think Pos Is A Job. by GO0DHardDick: 8:30am On Sep 23
Dude to me, pos business isn't business! Your mom is right.
Open another reasonable business while still doing your pos business. POS business is almost literally everywhere else nobody considers as a business. Dude, open other businesses
Re: Help Me, My Mother Does Not Think Pos Is A Job. by victooman: 9:05am On Sep 23
GO0DHardDick:Pos is a business bro, l tend to differ with you, it is littered everywhere and so are people too, when you are dealing with commodity that is in demand by everyone at anytime you will make money irrespective of the competition...
l have invested in crayfish, palm oil none favoured me like Pos business...
You dont understand the secret hence ur assumption ...

Some people has to be enlighten that going to school doesn't mean you should go and sit down in one office because of 70 or 90k..
I went to school so that i'll gain the needed knowledge to start my own enterprise and to also gain the respect as a graduate..

If she doesn't think that it's a real job, then she should go and get a real job.
I hate it when parents like stressing their children over something they can't do themselves.
