Ooni Inaugurates National Orisa Day In Brazil by techWriter0: 1:35am On Mar 22, 2023

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has officially presented a Certificate of Yoruba Territory to Quilombola territory in Brazil, making the city the first outside Africa to receive the title.

The highly revered Yoruba king also on Tuesday addressed Brazil’s Federal House of Assembly where he officially inaugurated the first-ever National Orisa Day in the South American country.

A statement from Ooni’s Media Aide, Moses Olafare, said Ogunwusi addressed the Brazilian Parliament on the special session for Isese Practitioners marking the national day for Orisa religion in Brazil.

The Ooni said the royal visit was undertaking to bridge the gap between the Yoruba race and the rest of the world through cultural integration and globalizing Yoruba culture in the diaspora.

According to him, the Royal Father and his entourage from Nigeria arrived in the Brazilian city of Bahia on Sunday and met with President Lula da Silva in the Brazilian capital, Brasilia, on on Monday.

The Ooni delivered the title in the Quingoma community, in Lauro de Freitas, in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador.

Residents of Quilombola celebrated the delivery of the title of Yoruba territory which would further strengthen and preserve the Yoruba history, culture and language in the community.

“The Quilombola was recognized for having received and welcomed Yoruba people, who were enslaved and forcibly removed from their base in Nigeria during the era of the slave trade in Africa.

“The recognition of Quilombola as Yoruba territory is another step in the fight for respect for African history; for the history of the Quilombola dates back to the 17th century.

“Currently, around 580 families live in the area covering approximately 1,200 hectares. Quingoma has been recognized as a Quilombola territory by the Palmares Foundation since 2013,” the statement said.

Ọ́ọ̀ni disclosed that the rich and robust history of the Brazilians and the Yoruba people have dated back time in memorial.

The royal father said that the steps taken would not only preserve the history via cultural preservation, but would also give Brazilians a sense of belonging which would help to foster improvement in strengthening the heritage of Yoruba globally.

Ponies in his submission said the event iwas a very personal one for him as he is passionate about preserving the Yorubas culture and its deep-rooted values.

“This event will lay precedence for the Yoruba language and its culture to be more acceptable globally. You can see the excitement on their faces.

“Their Babalawos are well grounded in the teachings of Ifa and can render the Odu-Ifa and its panegyrics like our Ifa priest do in Nigeria,” Ooni stated.

According to him, the Brazilians hold their gods like Sango, Ogun, Yemoja, and Obatala in high esteem and have designated days to celebrate these gods with colorful displays infused with plenty aesthetics.

“They also speak Yoruba which is one thing I love about them; It’s very essential to harmonize them and also show solidarity that we are part of them and they are part of us.

“This will foster good bilateral trade between Brazil and Nigeria and it will also put the Yoruba culture at an advantage,” he added.

Check this... First on arrival he met with the president, then he addressed their parliament, they agreed with him and then he confer the whatever title he wanted to...

Some people would have gone their to promote their rights and then started calling the place a no man's land... Imagine all the praises the Ooni showered on Brazil for helping his People flourish...

God bless the Yoruba nation.
Even when slavery tried to divide us, we still sourced our roots and reunited ourselves.

Now, nobody is saying this is move to takeover Brazil.

Nobody is saying this is an act that inanimately echoes that Brazil is no man's land.

Clearly, if a Brazilian Yoruba man who became indigene in Lagos was contesting in Nigeria, the APC party will remind him he is not purebred Yoruba, and that his ancestry is Brazil and he should go there and vote.

In other words, to APC and the vulnerable, being Yoruba is a title until during elections, then, your heritage must be tracked!

Same people who were propaganda tools used by APC during the Lagos elections saying the Igbos wanted to overtake the yorubaland through another yoruba man, are here on this topic praising this they'd call annexation if it happened in Lagos. But since it's not the Igbos, "it is a good development for a civilised world".

Nigerians, which way!

I see comments on this topic and smile. So you know how to reason like human beings but choose not to when it doesn't support your views?

It's good I know Yorubas that aren't this dumb to be used by APC tricks.

Meanwhile, tribalists, now fall on your sword.

Cheers.

My response to sb here on this thread that can serve as multi-responses to those wanting to tag me with reasonable or unreasonable comments::

To whom it may concern...

You didn't even get the message of my post.

Anyways, I'll answer your questions. From all you wrote, you really don't know politics and propaganda. Everyone is allowed to vote whoever they want. There's nothing like working with the hosts to select who the hosts want. You as a Nigerian citizen can vote anyone!

Politicians vote themselves but want to force who everyone else should vote!

If it's a working system, anyone who dares to stop anyone anywhere would be prosecuted! They have the constituted rights to franchise.

About hate, so when sb doesn't support you, they hate you? What have you done to earn that support? You see this hate thing you guys talk about, it's just you building the hate when I really don't see hate. You people are the ones who feel APC represents the Yorubas... because they have their candidate in Lagos. Why? Because that's what the politicians want you to believe to smooth their reelection.

There's no enemy in politics. They all sit together and eat together. Na una dey kill unaselves talking gibberish say this one said this, this one said that. Why na only election time it came up? Lol.

About Okorocha, who told you there aren't people who like him. All you see are propaganda!

I am not saying the Yorubas are the only tribalistic person during this elections. Yes, even the Igbos were tribalistic in their regions. But the point is that the politicians successfully happened to everyone who danced to their tunes.

Whatever you hear during elections is politics and propaganda! That's what you folks never understand! And there's nothing like hosts and parasites! Everyone is free to live anywhere.

I also see some people attacking only the Igbos. Are they the only ones in Lagos? Tribes full there! As well as Lagosians in the East doing business but because of elections, Lagos become New York. And only one tribe was dragged across ethno-tribal reasons.. not because the LP guy wasn't Yoruba, but because that was the only propaganda to reinstate their man.

Some even say the Igbos do major of the crimes in Nigeria. While I may not have need to argue, I am waiting for you to just mention one crime done in the East that hasn't been done elsewhere. Just one. When you become a constructive critic, you'll learn to avoid being recruited in some bs ideologies.

If you have evidence of what anyone said, post it here. I mean, what you said the Igbos said. Post all your evidence here, and their names and places of birth. Funnily enough, it's all hearsay.

Omo, I was born in Lagos. My birth certificate carries Lagos in it. Like bonafide Lagosian if Lagos has to be a country...and living more than 15years there paying taxes, I am an indigene by law. But I am sure if I were to contest tomorrow, you'll tell me my late great grandmother isn't Yoruba. Lol. Isn't that propaganda to discredit me?

Now, the uproar has ended, yeah? Why? Mission accomplished!

So you see all these propaganda thing only works on those who wants to get used.

With all these, I refuse to be addressed as Igbo, Yoruba, or Hausa...since it doesn't matter during franchise. Just call me a lil bit Nigerian until Nigeria becomes a country.

Congrat to them..

They’re Brazilians. They’re called *Nagos people of brazil* They’re well loved in Brazil. Infact, many others Brazilian extraction are fast learning their culture - Ifa,sango,Ogun etc.

Government gave them every liberty cuz of their good character and heritage. Their culture is one of the best and well respected culture in Brazil.

If you’re a Yoruba, Brazil is like your brotherly-hood. Their visa isn’t hard. No discrimination. Good foods, culture & nice atmospheric condition. It’s where you can go for vacation..

Can you tell us specifically who called what place a no man's land? Be specific

Afonja betrayed the Yoruba race. Is that common sense?

Alaafin Aole later betrayed Afonja, leading to the loss of Ilorin. Is that common sense?

Fani kayode's father betrayed Benjamin Adekunle. Is that common sense?

Abiola betrayed Awolowo. Is that common sense?

Are you really sure there is anything called common sense in the Yoruba race, a race full of betrayers?

If Yorubas including Obas can refer to their own children born in marriages between their sons and their Igbo wives as Omo Ale (Baztards) because of ordinary governorship and state Assembly elections then I think these Brazilians who are in another continent should move on with their lives and forget about any fake Orisa.
