It appears either COREN got the definition of "technician"/"engineering" wrong or you mixed up things.

FYI, to qualify as an engineer (in Nigeria, as least) you will need to graduate from the following courses: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Software Engineering or any other course(s) offered by the respective faculties of engineering both in the university and polytechnic system.

However, to qualify as a technician, you'll need to major in the following courses: Applied Technology, Automotive Technology, Biology/Biological Technology, Chemical Technology, Civil and Construction Technology, Computer Related Technology, Electrical/Instrumentation Technology, Mechanical/Quality Control Technology, Optical Technology etc.

Now, get this straight: both universities and polytechnics offer these courses! That means, graduates of both can be either technicians or engineers, according to choice of course, not institution type! .

Don't bother urself, most of them ve problems understanding simple logic and maths. EQUIVALENCE is a word in logic and mathematics and the meaning is what most people here take for EQUALITY, whereas they are different but similar again. If they knew the meaning they probably won't be arguing.

Hey my Country people, when it comes to any course BSc is better, but considering the nature of things in this country BSc holder's are now suffering because Nigeria is a country of technicalities so but it's advisable to pass through HND first time before BSc. I have seen a friend who studied biochemistry repairing phones so many other bscs like that. A
