A Brother had been admitted to one of Nigerian Private Universities Last month, But He does not Liked the course he was offered. He originally applied for Economics as His first and Second Choices but was given Insurance Instead, Based on his Admission Screening assessment and reports.

Now he had already paid his acceptance fees but He is unstoppably thinking of changing his course of study but Does not have any Idea. The Reason is, He knows Economics better even if you come to his house at anytime of the day even at night and ask him any questions from Economics that are being taught in Secondary School, He will undeniably not only giving you correct answers but with Vast details. In addition, He scored Economics High in just concluded UTME than other subjects.


The Question now is; Is it possible for him to change His given Course of Study (Insurance) to Economics, While in University? How? Which way?


Somebody In the House Should Help him out before he makes the biggest mistake of his Life,

Looks like you are a student of UI, I guess. Ife, I humbly thank you for the priceless input.

His worry now is, If he agreed to study the course he was given for the first year and after meeting the required CGPA and the change went successfully as he wanted it without any hassles, Then How can he make use of what was already being taught in Economics in the first year in his absence (Since he studied Insurance in the first year)?

Does he have to forget what was already taught in his absence and starting afresh of what second year and more years hold for him?

The Point is he hates being absence in classes.

The student should find out from his school the possibility and procedure of change of dept in his school. I doubt that all universities do that. Assuming they do, its also possible that it is permissible at the discretion of the school and his school may rarely grant it. In essence, the inquiry MUST be done in his school for certainty sake. On the issue of missing out on 1st yr, its no big deal as d courses 4 the two dept wil almost be the same except for few of them as the courses are closely related . He can read up the ones he did not do while insurance dept or even ride on without reading it as general knowlege wil hide him to safety in his new dept
