AMAZING.

The 2nd longest bridge in Africa, the 11.8 km long Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos

I doff my hat for Dave Umahi.

First class official he is. wink

A proud symbol of Nigerian competence.

Third Mainland Bridge did not look as beautiful as this even when it was first commissioned in 1990.

One could be forgiven for thinking it was an expressway in Dubai or Tokyo looking at it now.

Incredible.

Now Imagine traveling from the doorsteps of your house to another city 24 hours away and the roads are like this from the beginning yo the end.

Some may not be as fresh looking...but they are tarred and lines are marked from your house to your destination.

That is what you experience in the USA and this is what all our stolen monies should be spent on. We have no business with untarred roads in Nigeria with the kinds of money we had.

Now Nigeria is getting broker day by day.

US annual budget: 7.6 trillion dollars.

Nigeria annual budget: 40 billion dollars.

By African standards, we are rich, but please, leave US out of our discussion, I take God beg you.

Do you know the annual budget of Stanford University, USA?

9 billion dollars.

Just ONE university in America.

Is that not 1/4 Nigerian annual budget?

Harvard University, their annual budget is 6 billion dollars.

Cornell University, 5.4 billion dollars.

Yale, 5.7 billion dollars.

I don't know where you people get this idea that Nigeria is rich.

I hope you know that the whole of Nigeria is just about the size of Texas...just one state out of 50 +1 ( Hawaii ) of the USA.

So if you think you don't know what I am saying, pack well.

Just last month, my entire neighborhood had its roads re-tarred. No fan fare, no begi begi nothing...just because we complained of some peeling off of the granite in just one small spot in one of the streets. It was done three days...the entire neighborhood of about 8 streets.

There is no excuse for corruption. Stop making needless comparisons. I said Nigeria is getting broke everyday.

I carely

while we continue to advocate for less corrupt politicians,we need to remember that they can not steal the money to build Nigeria.

In my opinion, biggest problem of Nigeria is white elephant projects that will contribute next to nothing. We need power more than anything but we're busy building a very expensive road that already has an alternative. If we spent the same money in generation and transmission of power in Nigeria and we get at least 10GW of power transmitted,we can spur growth of the economy and widen the tax net which will grant the government the funds to pay for such road projects.

Government can also identify real farmers with college of agriculture and fund them to go into massive agricultural projects to ensure food security.

You will never know how important well paved roads are to the growth of any economy.

Why are you arguing that politicians don't steal money for projects when this is a recurring theme.

The USA is a whole continent on its own but the roads are paved from your doorstep to another doorstep as far as 23 hours away....why do you think delivery businesses like Amazon can thrive?

Go and learn more. That is my advice to you and stop defending crooked politicians
