Olorogun Michael Ibru and his wife Cecilia in England in the 70s. Olorogun Michael Ibru (1930- 2016 ) Businessman, Philanthropist and founder of the Ibru Organisation. He was born the eldest of seven, Ibru hailed from Agbarha-Otor, near Ughelli in Delta State. His mother was the daughter of the fabulously wealthy Ovedje Osadjere of Olomu. Ibru attended Igbobi College Yaba where he was Senior Prefect. He worked briefly with UAC before setting up a frozen fish business in 1956. Today, the Ibru Organisation is a family-run business that is now a multi-billion dollar conglomerate and one of the largest in West Africa. The ibrus are urhobos. They were never associated with politics. They worked hard for their money. Ibru started the business of importing ice fish into Nigeria at a time when Nigerians were not really accepting it because it was seen as dead fish. He has several hectares of farm lands all over the south west and south south for farming. Michael ibru blessed his entire family by starting iconic businesses like Ikeja hotel, Sheraton hotel, guardian newspaper, oceanic bank, fish importation, aero contractor, auto companies, poultries, palm oil business and putting his siblings and wives in charge. He never owned an oil block - not a part of the Yoruba land fulani billionaires who destroyed Nigeria via govt patronage and self allocation of oil block. The dearth of genuine investors like this urhobo man is the reason dollar is rising and naira is falling. Ibru borrowed the FG money for construction of delta steel company.
