The members of Anambra State Association Of Town Unions ASATU Onitsha South Youth Wing have voted the Chairman of Onitsha South local government area, Chief Emeka Joseph Orji as the best Council Chairman in Anambra state.
In a statement signed by ASATU Youth Mayor Onitsha South local government area, Comerade Dunu Chiadikaobi stated that Chief Orji has transformed the council since two years he assumed office.
He said that since the advent of his administration more than two years , Onitsha South local government area have witnessed tremendous successes in taking governance to the masses at the community level.
"Reasons for this endorsement are indeed gearing for all and sundry to see;
1, Urban regeneration of the Council area as well as Urban restoration of the commercial city which also includes the desisting and clearing of water ways which has stopped the perennial flooding in Fegge and it's environs .
2. Recovery of public property and allowing local government system to function optimally and demolition of illegal structures that had in the past affected free flow of traffic and defacing the Commercial City.
5 Skill acquisition in conjunction with the Non Governmental organizations that has led to the training and empowering of youths in the Council area.
3, Attracting more than five road projects that has led to the ease of traffic and giving Onitsha South the befitting look and providing access roads to traders and other business men and women.
4. Capacity building of staff of the local government area by providing descent working environment which has improved productivity for the staff as well as repainting of the multipurpose hall , concrete paving of the compound and public toilet and shower and provision of new seats for religious and social activities.
5. Attracted the ongoing building of General Hospital in the Council area and providing medical services to the aged and vulnerable in the Council area.
6. Restoration and beautification of major centers in the Local Government Area" he stated.
He also commended Governor Charles Soludo for appointing him the Chairman of the local government area.
According to him ,his appointment has continued to provide positive multiplayer effects in the area.
"We commend the governor for delivering on his promise to make Anambra state livable and prosperous Homeland through the fighting of insecurity in the state , massive road construction as well as provision of social security in the state.
We also salute Gov Charles Soludo for bringing to bear expertise and professionalism in government through the appointment of the best brains in all sectors of the state" he said .
