Travel / Re: Nigerian ‘Community’ Abroad is Toxic. by elasticlala: 4:31pm
grommet:
I have tend to notice that the nigerian community “abroad” is toxic. People are just filled with too much gossip, people also try to one up you, you wonder if they are your friends. Some come to your personal life and after its a mess as they come with a wave of drama to it.

Sometimes its annoying being in those spaces because its all about ‘this guy’s wife sleeping with different men who are sleeping with different girls and so on and so forth. It’s kind of annoying

Has anyone noticed this? Thoughts

This is hasty generalization!
That might be your own experience. I wonder the country and Nigerian community you are referring to.

To be honest, the Nigerian community in the state where I live in the USA here is nicer than even my family members in Nigeria.

Thank God for hell.

"Those who sin will die; death and Sheol await them, and their glory will be as nothing in the world. Their form will be scorned in the world, and their glory will not be remembered." (Isaiah 57:20)

Here is a verse from the Book of the Dead that describes hell:

"Oh my beloved, see how the dead, the deceased ones, are in the fire with their faces turned backward as they go around in circles among the souls of their kind. And they do not see that they are themselves dead." (Book of the Dead: Chapter 125)

I am so glad to be Not Like Them.

As usual, no sidewalks for pedestrians.

After all roads are only meant for cars.

If you have no car you can walk on the sand or inside the open gutter, or try your luck by walking on the asphalt along with trucks, cars and lorries.

PRIMITIVE PEOPLE WITH LOW IQ.

Do all the roads in Ikeja(Lagos State capital city) have sidewalks for pedestrians? Meanwhile the road in Aba is still under construction.

If you sell your UBA on or before 10th of May, you will not qualify to receive dividend. If you sell on 13th or thereafter, you will receive your dividend.

The key date is the Qualification Date (10th May in this instance). You would notice that on 13th, the opening price would be the closing price on 10th less N2.30 (dividend).

The closing price on 10th would be cum-dividend (cum-div) i.e. inclusive of the declared dividend. While the opening price on 13th is ex-dividend (ex-div) i.e. after dividend has been deducted (marked down for dividend).
Thanks for this explanation

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by raumdeuter: 4:30pm
swiz123:

Real Madrid has the quality to match Pep toe to toe but they chose cowardice instead. Sitting deep, soaking pressure, trying to take advantage of a counter that never came. Finally held on and won on penalties. That is the kind of performance Popizaino adores which is shocking giving that he admires Klopp's bravery against Pep.

Popi has been very disappointing lately.

The way Madrid plays is kind of deceptive under every coach they go to the level of their opponent and just deploy the minimum needed to beat the opponent. They are hardly smashing opponents 6-0, 7-0 like say City

E.g this season Madrid beat Union Berlin at Bernabeu with a 1-0 win secured in the dying minute. Where many will think they were lucky Union is a team in Bundesliga relegation battle

When they met Leipzig 4th in Bundesliga at bernabeu it was 1-1 and won 2-1 aggregate where many thought they were lucky

When they met City one of the strongest teams this season, they still managed to beat City narrowly and many thought it was lucky

They met Bayern again, Same story another Narrow win

Don't be surprised if in the final they just use a boring 2-0 over Dortmund and the moment Dortmund start having ideas they switch up gears just enough to overcome them narrowly
I remember a year where Wolfsburg beat Madrid 2-0 in Germany and looked like they were going to knock them out until they beat Wolfsburg 3-0 at Bernabeu
Another year they beat Juve by 3-0 first leg, Juve replied with 3-0 return leg and last minute Madrid scored winner

Look at most of the years it always look like they are lucky to get by whether its tough opponent or weak opponents

Politics / Ondo Attorney General Hails Chief Judge's Practice Direction On Criminal Justice by aguele(m): 4:30pm
Ondo Attorney General Hails Chief Judge's Practice Direction on Criminal Justice Administration

The Office of the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ondo State has expressed its wholehearted support for Practice Direction No. 1, Vol 1 of 2024 issued by the Chief Judge of Ondo State, Honourable Justice Aiyedun Olusegun Odusola.

This directive mandates that all criminal cases be initiated, tried, and concluded within the court division or district where the offense occurred. Additionally, all pending criminal trials yet to reach the defense stage must be transferred back to the relevant division or district for a fresh start. The new direction also revokes any prior instructions contradicting these guidelines.

This decision comes after a thorough review of a judgment delivered on March 14, 2023, in Suit No: HOW/66/2022 (ALHAJI RASHEED OLANREWAJU KAZEEM V. THE HONOURABLE CHIEF JUDGE OF ONDO STATE & OTHERS) by Honourable Justice Ademola Enikuomehin of the Ondo State High Court, Owo Judicial Division. The judgment and Practice Direction No. 1, Vol 1 of 2024 are aligned with Sections 86 and 87 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Ondo State, 2015, and Section 35 of the High Court Law of Ondo State, 2006.
The Ondo State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Honourable Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, prioritizes adherence to court orders and the law.

This commitment is reflected in the eight-point reform agenda implemented by the Office of the Attorney-General, emphasizing obedience to legal directives. The government wholeheartedly supports Practice Direction No. 1, Vol 1 of 2024.

The Attorney-General's office commends the Ondo State High Court's judgment and the Chief Judge's directives. They pledge continued collaboration and partnership between the Ondo State Judiciary and the executive arm of government.
This new approach is expected to:

Restore balance: Criminal jurisdiction will be evenly distributed across all judicial divisions and magisterial districts, fostering legal development for both legal practitioners and judges throughout the state.

Reduce risks: Transportation risks for defendants awaiting trial and witnesses will be minimized.

Lower costs: The financial burden on the state's correctional facilities for transporting defendants and providing security will be lessened.

Optimize spending: The Ondo State Judiciary's witness transportation expenses can be managed more effectively.

The Office of the Attorney-General assures Ondo State citizens that the Ministry of Justice will continue to fulfill its prosecution duties in all criminal courts across the state.

The government is committed to facilitating the swift infrastructural development of court facilities throughout the state.
