OIC Commends Buhari’s ‘generous Donation’ Of $1 Million To Afghanistan by oluwaahmed: 11:31am On Mar 04, 2022 |
The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, OIC, Hissein Brahim Taha, has commended “the generous donation of one million dollars” by Nigeria to the Humanitarian Trust Fund for Afghanistan. A statement sent to DAILY NIGERIAN by the OIC headquarters said the donation comes in time to add a new momentum to organisation’s efforts to contribute to easing the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and to help in catering for the needs of millions of Afghan people, including women and children. “OIC remains committed to the noble cause of supporting the Afghan people and will spare no effort in implementing to the full the special resolution on Afghanistan issued by the last extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers held in December 2021 in Islamabad, Republic of Pakistan. The OIC appeals to all Member States, stakeholders and partners to come on board and make contributions to the humanitarian trust fund for Afghanistan through the bank account reserved for this fund within the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB),” the statement added. Background The OIC announced the launch of the trust fund to address the humanitarian crises in Afghanistan during its extraordinary emergency conference on Afghanistan in December 2021, held in Islamabad, Pakistan. The OIC called on its member states to make their contribution to the fund. The International organizations froze billions of dollars in aid and assets to Afghanistan after the Taliban took control of the country in August 2021 These reductions in aid delivery and frozen bank reserves have created a state of emergency in Afghanistan, with millions facing starvation and disease. The OIC fund, managed by the Islamic Development Bank, would begin assisting by early 2022. Nigeria as a one of the OIC member states announced its contribution. https://dailynigerian.com/oic-commends-buhari-generous/ |

While i appreciate his kind gesture of given to the needy, it is in a wrong time of doing such. every year we borrow money from China to cushion the effect of budget deficit yet dashing out money. I can assure you that this $1M is part of money borrowed from China. Why are our leaders like this? 1 Like |

Akwamkpuruamu:Nigeria is a member of OIC and the donation is given upon request to help one of their member states destroyed by the other organisation. Nobody stops or will even protest registering Nigeria among Christian Nations. There exist Christian Nations organisation but unfortunately only whites are allowed to register all the rest are useless to them their interest. Nigeria donates hundred millions of dollars to many African Nations annually in ECOWAS just for her being a member state and as such donating to the other organisations she belongs to shouldn't be a an issue! |
