I don't see any Southerner ruling Nigeria in 2023. Power isn't given. It's taken. The powerful grab it and use it. Any Zone that can't muster it's popularity to grab power is not worthy of it. |

The powers of the Nigerian president as displayed by Buhari in the last 7 years will make most dictators jealous - it is an affront on democratic norms, a tremendous departure from what it ought to be. All thanks to our so called “do nothing” (Rubber Stamp) National Assembly and a comatose judiciary that permitted Buhari’s excesses This is the lure that has galvanized the collective but satanic will of these politicians to become president at all cost, throwing all caution to the wind After all, who doesn’t want to be an absolute ruler in a modern world ? The perks and powers of the “All powerful” Nigerian president makes even the US president look like a boys scout leader in the white house - What Buhari and his lieutenants got away with in Nigeria since 2015 would have triggered multiple artifices of impeachment anywhere in the western world, which would have resulted in at least 20 impeachment sessions and decisions where he to survive the previous 19. In saner climes, the system will weed out these aspirants by x-raying their records of service - and many of them will fizzle out. But this is Nigeria, where criminals and terrorists hold press conferences, showing capacity to run multiple bank accounts and even summon the services fo medical doctors to deliver pregnant women in their custody. A country where “repentant” terrorist are honored and encouraged with money from tax payers funded amnesty programs, adorning white “saintly” clothing, served plates of delicious jollof rice + goat meat and empowered with tools to boost their chosen professional careers - thereby insulting the sensibility and sensitivity of hapless Nigerians The prisons are no longer meant for criminals and law breakers but for those who lack the influence or “connection” to get presidential pardon or the Attorney General’s sympathy - a system consumed by uncontrolled cannibalistic corruption will someday self annihilate by default. We have not seen the worst yet, I am sure the likes of James Ibori may be pardoned soon, with enough time to declare his presidential ambition. And with the presidential field getting saturated by these clowns and jokers, Buhari would have satisfied his wish of completing an phase of his project - which is; making a mockery of democracy and rubbish it to the fullest that it becomes distasteful and undesirable even to the most liberal of Nigerian democrats. This is Buhari’s Nigeria of 2022, where clowns engaging in presidential election buffoonery are creating an unending circus of shame when the nation is so traumatized by bad leadership Terrible, indeed is an understatement! |
