The extant, contributory pension scheme is a farce. A big one at that. I have a colleague who had well over #4M in the scheme, after leaving service, he was only paid #900k and placed on a monthly stipend of 14k until the whole money dries up! What can 14k monthly do in today's Nigeria? Ideally he should have been given 100% of the entire fund or worse case scenario - 50%. The pension act needs to be reviewed so that contributors get access to their entire fund on completion of service. I have more than #3M in de scheme, and wouldn't mind parting with 500k so that I can access the remaining. At all at all na I'm bad pass.

I think they are talking about the contributory pension scheme signed into law by the Obasanjo administration. Country hard I beg what is the essence of paying certain percentage of the money contributed by the person while still active in service when inflation is rising fast every day.

People do not have confidence in the future of the pension scheme considering the corrupt system we operate and the intention by government to borrow the funds. So they want to use various schemes to access their funds before the scheme collapses.

With the current state of the economy, working from morning till night for lesser value while commodities prices multiply, isnt that death? Death isnt just when the heart stops, when your pocket fails you as a hard working person, thats heart attack, when the economy fails a high percentage of its legit workers and afvours touts and people in shady businesses....
