I don't want an extension.
I m not happy with the extension cod it ll enable those he think are stealing to steal n hide more.
The masses only suffered during the panic of the previous week, the looters got 10 extra days to hide exchange their hidden old notes.
The common man has nothing more to lose.
so are u telling us tinubu who can order bullion van will have problem getting d new notes?

Are u telling me Peter obi who have good stakes in fidelity bank will have a problem?
If u are d manager of fidelity bank n peter obi call u to bring money will u say no?

So a whole atiku will have problem right?
The same custom officer who run deal as big as Halliburton n many more will have problem abi?

If the president really wanted to stop vote-buying then what's the point for extension? The new naira notes may have lost its purpose while it was printed.

Buhari's has no ball. Common sense suppose tell him he's to give 6 months notice ahead for the new notes to be in full circulation. If he did the policy in order to curb politicians, then it has failed with the extension.
I just don't like a man that pretends to be good but is very bad!
At the end, people ll hate APC more cos the common man has nothing more to go and change in the bank.
The looters has 10 more days to loot/exchange old notes. So...I disagree with the president on this extension. If I m in his shoes, I would v implemented this policy since early last year and give 6 months maximum notice with eagles eyes to watch who's exchanging huge cash. I go catch lots of people and ask where they saw huge cash to exchange.
u r talking nonsense

Postponed or not, I don't expect the new naira note to be everywhere as was the old one, the idea of the whole currency redesign is to reduce money in circulation and push transactions online.

It can still be everywhere if the withdrawal limits come into force by BVN tracking not account tracking (it can be done!) by a directive from the CBN to the banks along with the new notes paid only through the ATMs so the people withdrawing excess of the limits would be unable to for now since they can only get it over-the-counter. That way, the people who withdraw cash unnecessarily are checked. Another solution too is to load the ATMs with 200 naira notes instead of 1k notes, as those with huge cash withdrawals know they will be predisposing themselves to thieves and pickpockets with the huge number of notes in their hands than before.

This CBN governor is the worst in history.
His technical and management skills are just too poor to be CBN governor. He talks as a bush man too often on national issue.
Same way he spoke during aboki fx saga as a frustrated one man business CEO. His feb 10 deadline is not cast on the rock like his so passionate previous jan 31 deadline. He will still be usurped again, and probably at that time, he will be thrown out alltogether with his incompetency.

He is the worst CBN chief the country has ever produced.

Shamelessly corrupt, and always ready to sell his conscience to please the people in government. Every negative economic, fiduciary and fiscal policy is right in his eyes as long as it increases his own wealth.

The CBN has not said anything, especially the issues of Scarcity of the New Naira Notes!
na same same, nothing has changed!

Even with the extension of 10 days I doubt politicians can be able to store up enough to prosecute election for the simple reason that the cash is still controlled and regulated by CBN, I mean if CBN printed 2 trillion of the new money, they can push it in bit by bit and control the amount availed to banks that will in turn control amounts in Citizens and politicians hand. All the while Emefiele and Buhari knew it will be extended but they have studied the psychology of an average Nigerian who needs knee jerk action to react, that is why they come up initially with no extension, all these are still part of their initial plan.

He should have continued with his stupid policy, Feb 10 the is not realistic.

If he is really trying to curb inflation, a currency redesign was a bad idea.

The inflation Nigeria is currently experiencing is cost push inflation, its not driven by demand.

Wonder what he did during his vacation abroad, to smoke weed I think.

Now he has to go to Daura for the real economic advisers to tell him how to do his job, because he is hopelessly incompetent.

You're right, there is a video making the rounds of an individual who was spraying with bails of 500 naira new note, my calculation from the clip I got amounted to 500,000 (10 bails of 500 naira), I'm sure he would have more of it for him to gift a scarce currency of such, the CBN has to go tough and harsh on commercial banks who defy loading ATMS only with the new currency as directed by the CBN Governor and not pay over the counter. Deposit only should be done over the counter and even if new notes will be given over the counter, the withdrawal limit should be strictly adhered to. The guy's account should be traced, the bank and the official who issued him sick large amount of money should be severely dealt with.

You and I are saying the same thing. These banks are saboteurs, how our people don't know beats me. They are hoarding the new notes for side businesses with more cuts.

Many are blindly following two foolish people (Emefiele and Buhari) claiming good policy

they are good yet their time withness most corruption in history.

. love the policy initially, but start hating it when I realized that, the whole reason of the policy,is to support a particular candidate and not either because inflation or corruption as EMEFIELE projected it.

This means, after election, whatever way the result goes, the policy will die a natural cause, despite billions of naira wasted to redisign and stress he subjected millions of Nigeria to.

meanwhile, CBN doesn't have mandate of stopping vote buying, if Buhari serious need to curtail vote buying, let him give the agencies that have mandate marching order nah. (EFCC, ICPC, DSS, POLICE, INEC
Stop crying! If the candidate they are supporting with this policy according to you wins, that means the policy stands. You were supporting the policy until your Tinubu started ranting. This clearly shows you don't even have a mind of your own. grin

Let the money ease to become a legal tender on the 31st January but banks should collect it until March or April. This is how advance country do things. The running of monetary policy is in the hand of the cbn. Not the president, even US president didn't have a say when the FED make policy. But Nigeria is just corruption corruption. The should just focus on the fiscal policy of things through is ministers. This confusion should stop if Nigeria must get it right.

This is a better idea. Don't know why they didn't think this through.

I didn't even mention anyone. Na you mention Tinubu out of many politicians in the country. Maybe you mentioned him cos he's the only one complaining openly.

FYI, the CBN didn't release much into circulation. They know what they're doing. I have people close to me as unit heads of banks so I know this fact. You can only pack what's available. There's no sufficient new naira note from the beginning, talkless of being packed by any politician. Even at that, there's a limit to what you couid get as an individual and a corporate body with the little released by the CBN

Trust me you know in your inner mind that you are referring to Tinubu and if you read my quote very well I never mentioned any amount but as you have your unit head so also I have my my inner cacous around Tinubu and I maintain that he doesn’t have any old notes, think of it how much does the cbn printed and how much is available to the common men?
