Russia Ready To Deliver Free Grain To Africa – President Putin by WastedSpyPlane: 12:57pm On Mar 21, 2023
They should just suspend the deal...the grain is not getting to Africa, it's always finding a way to Western ports. It's not getting to those who really needs it (impoverished/developing countries like Nigeria).

According to the Russian president, this will happen if the Black Sea deal is not extended beyond 60 days.

Russia is considering a plan to send grain “free of charge” to countries in Africa, particularly those in greatest need, President Vladimir Putin has said.

His remarks come two days after the Black Sea Initiative, which allows Ukrainian agricultural produce to be exported via the Black Sea in a deal supported by the UN and Türkiye, was extended by 60 days.

Speaking on Monday at the International Parliamentary Conference “Russia-Africa in a Multipolar World,” President Putin said Moscow’s decision to extend the agreement was “guided by the needs of African countries.”

According to the UN, since the initiative was introduced in July 2022, approximately 25 million metric tons of grain and other produce have been sent to 45 countries, helping to stabilize global food prices. The deal includes a Memorandum of Understanding between Russia and the UN, with the goal of freeing up fertilizer exports.

However, the Russian leader expressed concern over the diversion of grain to wealthier European countries. He noted that between August 2022 and March 2023, “827 ships left Ukraine, of which only three million tons of grain were sent to Africa and 1.3 million to the poorest countries in Africa,” while “almost 45% went to well-fed European countries.”

The Russian president earlier insisted on reducing the duration of the deal from an initial 120 days to 60, to hold out for amendments “in the interests of African and other developing countries, considering that they need large amounts of food.”

He warned that Russia will only continue to abide by the agreement if certain conditions are met. Moscow has previously urged Western powers to lift sanctions on Russian agricultural exports, as a condition for maintaining the grain deal with Ukraine.

Speaking at the UN Security Council last Friday, Russia’s Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia explained that while Moscow has agreed to extend the scheme, it can only continue further if Western countries address Russia’s concerns.

President Putin pledged in his address on Monday: “If we nevertheless decide not to renew this deal after 60 days, then we are ready to deliver the entire volume that was sent from Russia to African countries during the previous period, in particular those in need, to those countries free of charge.”

First debt forgiveness for Africa…

Now free food/grains.

Putin looking for new ‘friends’ to associate and do trade with.

I think if Africa plays its card well this war in Ukrainian might just be beneficial after all.

But then African leaders are not known for taking such advantage of opportunities…

The age of colonialism began in the late 15th century and ended after some 500 years, after most colonized territories were set free by their metropoles. However, many believe that colonialism didn't end, but morphed into what is called today "neo-colonialism," with new ways of exploiting developing nations.

Today's collective West, clinging in every way possible to the dominance it is losing, still sees other countries as objects of colonial enslavement, said Sergey Naryshkin, director of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service and chairman of the Russian Historical Society.
Among the West's past colonial acts were the transatlantic slave trade, forcible distribution of opium in China, and the elimination of entire ethnic groups and cultures, Naryshkin noted at a round table on colonialism on Monday

"Today's Western leaders tend to claim that the position of their countries is allegedly due to the effectiveness of democratic institutions," Naryshkin said. "In fact, the well-being of the neo-colonial powers is built on blood, unfair and violent redistribution, distribution of funds to the detriment of all those who are not part of the so-called "golden billion."

Today, many of Russia's African and Asian partners are looking at Moscow with hope, supporting Russian initiatives designed to ensure a democratic world order based on international law and principles of multipolarity, he noted.

“At the same time, recalling the words of one of the Brussels officials, Josep Borrell, who called the European Union a flowering garden surrounded by jungle, I conclude that history, unfortunately, has taught our opponents nothing,” Naryshkin stated.
The West trying to keep its dominance is still thinking within the old paradigm of colonialism, called "the rules-based order," he concluded.

African Countries Are Dumb And Easy To Manipulate- EU Is Talking From Experience
https://www.nairaland.com/7559246/african-countries-dumb-easy-manipulate

Once again, let me reiterate the fact that Nigeria is only independent in theory.
This statement from pansophist supports the facts.
Yes there's tribalism in Nigeria...but who forcefully amalgamated the North and the South? For what reason?
Who drew our borders?
From the extensive research I've done on the amalgamation on North and Southern Nigerian, I found that the interests of the various tribes in this colony had not been taken into consideration, rather, it was the clandestine interest of the colonialists that took primacy. The amalgamation of Northern and Southern Nigeria is rooted in the practice of divide and conquer. It was a ploy to take advantage of the various differences between the several ethnic groups that make up Nigeria and exploit them.
It was to make sure that we were never united and by extension- weakened to put up any resistance. It was meant to distract us and divert attention away from the atrocities of the colonizers.
Beyond tribalism, there are other problems facing developing countries. There's the issue of economic disparity engineered and orchestrated by the minority hegemons in order to keep the majority in modern day slavery.

It has been established and it's a fact that the West had engaged in pre colonial, colonial and post colonial exploitation of African resources. The US/West exploits the world through various clandestine activities but most especially it's currency. The economic disparity between the collective west and developing countries can be considered an exploitation or rebranded slavery. The legal minimum wage for jobs in most western countries is the equivalent of $10/hr. For illustration, A factory worker in the US/west earns $15/hr, 8 hours per day in a 5 day work week = about $500 weekly. In 2 weeks time, this factory worker would be able to save about $1000 for a tech product (let's say an iPhone).... I know this worker will have other needs but this is just for illustration. Meanwhile, a factory worker in Nigeria working 8 hours a day..maybe 10K a day ..in a 5 day work week would earn like 50K naira weekly...in 2 weeks, that's 100K naira (less than $250 as of today). Both had the same labour input but the Nigerian was exploited by the hegemon. The West influenced the politics of Africa. Most African countries are still under defacto colonialism. The Western interference in our domestic politics allows them install puppets('African leaders') who in turn give the colonizers a free hand to loot our resources. We can take advantage of the rivalry between the West and East and use it to our own benefit.

On point, but Africa's leaders are half-witted and are largely under the influence of the west.

Use Fire wood.
Food is the most important..
But instead of the grain getting to the countries that need it (impoverished/developing countries like Nigeria), it finds it's way to Western ports... that's cruel, barbaric and inhumane.

there is something called open market. A seller fixes his/her price and those who can afford come and buy accordingly.

When we have in abundance and burn/flare/waste it.

Firewood comes with its own problems…

Deforestation just one of them. We can’t be cutting down trees without replacing/regrowing them.
Then what about the stress, health implications etc of using firewood?

Can’t even imagine cooking with firewood!
(Apologies to those who have no other means of cooking food to eat)

I'm not going to pay attention to what you wrote bc it makes no sense.
The grain finds it's way to ports of countries that sanctioned Russia. Meanwhile, African countries that took no part in the folly of the West bear the brunt of the hardship.
Where is the morality?
And then when you made mention of cooking gas, that was when I knew your skull was empty...what about kerosene? grin Nigeria is an oil producing country and you shouldn't shift the blame of the failures and irresponsibility of your 'democratic' govt to Russia. Just look at Saudi Arabia (an Arab monarchy where the royals are the heads of state & government).
Have you given the firewood option a serious thought?

I already covered this.
Use kerosene. Nigeria is an oil producing country and you shouldn't shift the blame of the failures and irresponsibility of your 'democratic' govt to 'autocratic' Russia.
I grew up in a household that cooked with firewood and I have no problem with using firewood when my survival depends on it.
What you're passionate about is different from what I'm passionate about. My major concern is food security.
I'm not a climate change/environmentalist fanatic.
Deforestation can be easily remedied with Afforestation.

I'm not shifting the goal post with you.
If I continue to engage with you..it'll give you relevance you're craving for.
From every indication, you've admitted that African countries haven't been positively impacted by the grain deal.
The bottomline is ...either by theft or force, grain meant for impoverished/developing/starving countries like Nigeria do not get there.
It should be suspended. Russia should engage with Africa directly instead of going through fraudulent UN mechanisms.

Who is shifting blame…?

Read my earlier comment I posted. The one on top of this one you quoted to understand my point.

You said “if your survival depends on it” meaning you would not go near firewood if you had another alternative like “kerosene “.

Deforestation is not so easy as you claim. It’s a major challenge facing many countries of the world, including some of the most advanced.

BidenDTrounce:
The United States is reportedly investigating the reason why its air defense system was not fully operational during a strike on a US base in Syria.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said earlier in the day that the US military had carried out airstrikes on facilities belonging to groups affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) after an Iranian drone attacked a coalition base in northeast Syria, killing one US contractor.

The US military does not know at present why the system did not work as it should and the circumstances are under investigation, the report said, citing two officials. (You guys should wait, they'll soon go and concoct one lie/excuse to feed you guys) grin

One of the officials explained that the Avenger missile defense system on the base, named RLZ, may have been experiencing some unexpected maintenance issue, despite the fact that the troops were on high alert given that Iranian-backed groups had conducted 78 attacks in the past two years, US media reported.

Two service members injured during the attack were treated on site, while three others were evacuated to the medical facility in Iraq along with a wounded contractor, a release issued late Thursday by the Pentagon detailed.

The Defense Department did not reveal the identity of the killed person, pending notification of family, one official said, according to the report.

US officials said on Friday that Iran-backed militias fired about a dozen of rockets while attacking a second US base in the area, but that strike did not result in casualties. (Na lie o...it's damage control...so the US can save face ...shey you understand) grin

The US military controls parts of the provinces of Al-Hasakah, Raqqa, Aleppo and Deir Ez-Zor, where the largest Syrian oil and gas fields are located. The Syrian government has repeatedly called the US military presence in the provinces an occupation aimed at stealing Syria’s oil.
