Nigerians Slams Wigwe's daughter for not standing to greet VP Shettima at her parents' funeral

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsoqQyKrCaE?si=HNpHsi99M2Qr_7Xu

A moral police on social media has called out Herbert Wigwe's oldest daughter for not standing to greet the Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima.

The user shared a photo of Tochi Wigwe sitting while accepting a handshake from Shettima during one of the events organised to mourn Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba Wigwe, and their son Chizzy Wigwe who died in a helicopter crash. He then shared photos of former VP Yemi Osinbajo and businessman Aliko Dangote standing to shake hands with Shettima.

He wrote: β€œSame Man, different regard. Whoever that girl is,she lacks proper home training. You don't shake a person old enough to be your father while seating down.”

A couple of other social media users from the North also berated the grieving daughter.

However, many defended her.
I bliv U cannot judge her base on the circumstances she’s into. So many things must have been playing in her head at that point in time, so Abeg make una free the poor girl πŸ˜’πŸ˜’

so being bereaved shut down a part of d brain right?

Yes, it does. A lot of thoughts might be going through her mind at that moment. She was in grief, not just for one person but 3, father, mother & brother. It's not easy. A reasonable person should understand.

If it were a different occasion other than a funeral of her family members, i'd blame her.

The young girl should be freed.

She is bereaved. She is mourning the deaths of her parents and her sibling. Where is your conscience?

Average Nigerians lack emotional intelligence. They act with sentiments rather than with rationality. Was the VP there to show sympathy or to be worshiped?

After all, the same Shettima will likely choose to be the one bowing for people during the next presidential election campaign.

There is nothing to defend here. It is bad manners to shake hands with anybody while sitting down. Common sense is not common afterall.

Hold your handshake. Even at weddings that are joyous events, couples can be seated when greeting people and accepting gifts.

Until you learn to also respect other people's culture which could be different from yours and stop seeing everything through ur own culture's perspective then you might be regarded as being intolerant.

It's unfortunate how most of you could be so insensitive. The poor girl is grieving and all you morally upright folks care about is whether she greeted the VP according to your culture.
Pray not to be in her shoes.... because in such a situation I don't think u will be thinking about all these things you are saying.
