Lucky you! It's very unfortunate the youths have chosen to become a menace to the same society that raised them but who do we blame? I detest cultism with every drop of blood in me!

Yes, they are not Igbos! Even if Onitsha say that they're not Igbos, when Biafra is established I will gladly vote in support of that because we don't want anyone sabotage our efforts. Sometimes I wonder if those of you who claim to be Igbo on Nairaland are actually Igbos, absolutely no Igbo man has time for this shi.t. I've never seen my mother telling people who do not want to be identified as Igbos that they are, what's so special about these guys that y'all keep making them feel like the great Igbo nation is trying to force an identity on them?

If you understand history or ethnicity, you will understand that regardless of what these guys say, we are all closely related but it's obvious most of them and the Igbo identity enforcers do not know sh.it about history. There is a reason why Europeans are closely related to one another even if they claim to be different people, that's why English is a Germanic language.

An Aro man is more related to efik people than Nsukka people that share more with Igala people, that's the beauty of our people yet when we are all still related somehow (that's why Ashkenazi Jews are more related to Europeans than other Jews from other parts of the world), when you understand that today's concept of the "Igbo ethnicity" wasn't the same thing 300 years ago then you'd understand why you must let them identify as whatever they want and why our ancestors never tried to build an empire. And yes, whether the Igboid groups like it or not, they are related to Igbos but let them be!

THEY ARE NOT IGBOS! Do not create another Nigeria in the Igbo Nation. RESPECT THEIR DECISION AND LEAVE THEM ALONE!

My dear, we Rivers people love to be identified as Rivers or Niger Deltans.

If I'm with a gun and someone calls me Igbo, your chances of surviving is slim cuz I find it offensive and insulting.

We just love to be neutral. Some Rivers people don't mind if you call them Igbo, but I mind and I dislike being misidentified.

I like Igbos, Hausas, Yorubas, etc. Na only Fulani I no like, but I like their women.

So, don't think I hate Igbos. I'm just NOT Igbo. I like the fact that Igbos are the smartest technologically in Nigeria, but I hate their desperation for money. If they can make it legally, I'll be so proud of them. I just don't like fraud or crime.

It's not only Igbos that do this, but they're first class in fake consumables, drugs, etc. and they're so fearless about it. I hate their desperation, but love their confidence.

My boss, the percentage of Igbos who have no time dragging uninterested people into the Igbo identity is higher although we can all agree that the Igbos are more related to you guys than those you mentioned. I never knew much about some of Igboid groups until I came on Nairaland and was quite surprised about how they felt about the people known as Igbos today.

So, I'm sure we can also agree that the today's concept of the Igbo identity is a recent creation... An "Igbo" person from the communities bordering Rivers is more related to you than another Igbo from Nsukka. There's this man (Bro Onyema) I respect so much (you remind me of him smiley) as a kid, he would say he's not Igbo but looked like the stereotypical Igbo man and easily fit in with Igbos -- we all believed him but whenever he was speaking in his kwale dialect I understood everything more than I understood people from Nsukka grin.

You just want back and forth conversation, so I'll permanently ignore you.

We are talking about LGA where people are benefiting from their resources and you're talking about revenues generation that the people don't enjoy, but govt. officials loot.

That state or LGA with the highest revenue generation, how many of the indigenous people are enjoying free light for close to 20 years now?

Your argument no get head. Have a nice day, dear, and stay blessed.

Without conceding that you are right, a sensible government will harness these potentials and turn it into a positive one. But you already know they won't do it less the ingenious Igbos become greater than they already were.

I was a kid when I started hearing of people referring to any items they deem low quality "Igbo made", not minding whoever fabricated the item. Now above my 40s, I'd have thought they would be shoe industries everywhere making real leather shoes owned by Igbos while the raw materials are supplied by Fulani herdsman. But that's never gonna be because the people have allowed the politicians to divide them along religious and tribal lines and became two parallel lines that can never meet.

But FYI, if not for the numerous substandard goods that come in from china and, majority of Nigerians wouldn't even be civilized because we don't produce any in commercial quantity whether fake or real and have limited buying power for high standard goods.

I Just Discovered Something

I want to brag and I don't care who gets offended.

I just realized I was born in the greatest local govt. in Nigeria. No other local govt. can compare.

1. Free light
2. Free water
3. Free rivers and pond for fishing = free fish
4. Free primary and secondary education (no school fees)
5. Free scholarship home and abroad (if you're smart)
6. Free farm land to go into agriculture if you're an indigenous person
7. Free land for house โ€” if you're an indigenous person
8. Free palm fruit if you want to go into red oil production
9. And more

After watching videos of how Nigerians are suffering under APC to fuel their gen just to charge their phones, I felt privileged.

In fact, you need connection to get even 10 liters. I just realized how lucky people from my LGA are, yet most of the guys here are rugged and into cultism, fraud, and dru.gs. Some of them live in the bush.

Your place get constant power supply for free for close to 2 decades, yet you live inside bush. 80 percentage of the shops and businesses are owned by Igbo people.

What is wrong with my people?

If you're from this LGA, in Rivers state, and you're poor, you're just lazy. You can't come from a blessed place like this and still be poor.

If you have electric vehicle here, you'll never remember fuel exists.

Even me, once in a while, I get lazy and forget how blessed we are here.

You'll never know what you have until you lose it.

My married cousin called me that he wants to visit me and spend 2 days with a girl that has been disturbing him.

He told her he's married, but she said she doesn't care. She told him to make her a second wife. It's more than 2 days now, but she has refused to go.

Why? Free constant light, free food, free dick, and more.

I never knew having free light is a thing of pride and I dey here dey am less less.

See, we love Igbos, but there is something that upsets we Rivers people. They begin to act like our master and trust me, we hate it, hence we vehemently deny any association with Igbos.

But, when we see Igbos and others in a fight, we secretly side the Igbos. In my case, I love being neutral.

If I see an Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba in a fight or argument, I tend to listen to everyone and make judgements based on who is right, but deep down, I want the Igbo to win and at the same time, I want the truth to prevail, hence I tend to be neutral.

I perfectly understand you sir. Please don't take that "fake Igbo" tag serious, most people who use it on others are very ignorant and dumb โ€” most fall under the first category and the rest fall under the latter willingly and unwillingly.

Most of the dumb ones can not engage me in a debate on this issue because they're just like an average Nigerian. These people do not know the origin of the concept of today's Igbo identity, these are the idiots who believe they are superior to other Igbos โ€” pathetic! Typical black people. I'm talking about the Anambra vs Enugu and so on e-warriors.

You know what makes them so dumb and foolish? Old Anambra was created from the northern half of East-Central state in 1976 grin, then in 1991, it was divided into two states โ€” Enugu state and Anambra state grin. You see why these guys are dumb? Even the rest of the states known as Igbo states were all calved from the same region as the first two. There are a lot of them on Nairaland creating threads to belittle others โ€” that's why Ojukwu said we must "denigerianize" in his speech (Ahiara Declaration).

Most of these guys scream "Biafra" at the tip of their voice but are just like the average Nigerian.

Boss, although some of them might be dumbos; however it is important to understand some are just genuinely curious. I'm not gonna lie, when I first learned about those Igbo relatives in other states โ€” I was fascinated. This must be one of the reasons Bro Onyema could do no wrong in my eyes back then grin.

They're just like theists who just found out there are thousands of religions in the world cheesy. I'm 100% sure my Igbo mother would be one of those that would get flabbergasted when someone from that side says he's not Igbo grin.

I also love everybody, I don't judge people based on their ethnicity but from the content of their character (except maybe it has been confirmed they preach hate to their kids then I'd be more cautious but can't hate first).

I grew up around different people, my closest friends back then were all Moslem โ€” the one that taught a lot of bad stuffs was Mustapha angry grin. That's why my cousin from Igboland is always mad I defend "Awusa" and Yoruba when he come at them โ€” typical Nigerian mentality. If only he knows the North has more ethnicities than the South.

I get it, but I still won't forget 2012 when I wanted to buy something from an Igbo clothe hawker and I tried to use Igbo to start a conversation before I'll switch to English so that he won't notice I can't speak it.

To my surprise, the guy just humiliated me and said, "What are you saying? You're speaking rubbish." Instead of correcting me, he abused me.

Since then, I have never made an attempt to speak Igbo to an Igbo person EVER. I speak English straight. If he wants to cheat me, let him cheat me.

I went to a shop last year to buy an electronic and the sales girl there started speaking Igbo to me. I understood what she was saying, but I was upset that she just assumed I was Igbo.

I cautioned her and told her I don't understand the language. She apologized and we continued our transaction in English.

I'm so sorry for that bad experience, I understand how badly that can hurt a man's ego. Most Nigerians are rude and stupidly ignorant, what the f ool failed to understand is that there are also Igbos who cannot speak central Igbo language except their dialect. Is he going to say they are speaking rubbish too?

Their ignorance is so provocative because they're not even ready to learn. When I quote historical events, my Igbo cousin with R & L tongue twist (no disrespect to him) starts talking down on me that I don't even know my village's history. Talking about how I didn't grow up in Igboland, I'm like "bro, how's that connected to the discussion we having?"

Ngorokpala in Imo, we trade nkwo market and go over to Etche, Rivers for Eke market.

P.S: Rivers state is a state of multiple tribes and languages.
Ikwere is basically form of Ohaji/Egbema dialects.
Igbos in Rivers state are visitors turned citizens, they are originally from Imo state. No Igbo is from Rivers, Rivers is strictly an Ijaw state but somehow due to carelessness the Igbo visitors from Ikwere are ruling the state. I love history and have read about this here on nairaland in culture section

Leave op make him dey misyarn. Almost all the regulatory agencies are headed by folks from other tribes. Na so dem dey collect bribes from Igbo manufacturers, and then allow them to be faking products. They will later tell you that Igbos love money, but na dem dey collect bribes from Igbos and extorting them who come like money pass
He knows the truth.
