Oya clap for yourself for the correction... U think I'd just sit down and start conjuring names? You are free to Google these names and verify. I don't know why I'm even answering a narcissist like u. When others are learning, u are busy looking for faults. That's why many people don't progress in life.

East lol Im an Okpe person one of the Urhobo Clans what has where Anioma comes from got to do with this page, this is strictly for the urhobos and friends of the Urhobos to know more about its ethnics and its people.

You asked for the answer you got. The Urhobo and Anioma people have been neighbors from time immemorial and have inter married. Yet some Urhobo think Anioma people are interlopers and migrated from the East to take what is due the Urhobo. It is not so friend!

- The Urhobos are the majority ethnic group in Delta State with more than a million people. They occupy Delta Central exclusively but they are also present in a few numbers in Delta South. They also have 9 LGAs out of the 25 LGAs in Delta State. The Urhobos effectively constitute the 5th largest ethnic group in Nigeria coming after the Ijaws.

Really? What about the tribes of northern Nigeria. You thing Hausas and Fulanis are same tribe or there are no other tribes bigger than the Urhobos in the North. Go to Kogi, Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers and Niger, I am sure u will see many tribe bigger than Urhobos.

The challenge is that people like to generalize using few samples which is statistically wrong.

To add. The first Nigerian to lead a revolt against the colonial govt levies was chief oshue (Urhobo) this was b4 the aba women riot. The first female ambassodor in nigeria was elizabeth ogbon-day(urhobo) urhobos are far more than anioma(2006 census is a fraud) urhobos give birth to many children(reason 4 d population explosion) every place u go to in northern nigeria u will find a significant urhobo population. Urhobos are next to igbos in terms of migration and next to d yorubas in terms of education but nigerians won't understand these facts becos urhobos remains a minority tribe..

Nice write up!
But you got your facts wrong in stating that the Urhobos are the 5th largest ethnic group in Nigeria.
Nigeria, Africa's most populous country, is composed of more than 250 ethnic groups; the following are the most populous and politically influential: Hausa and Fulani 29%, Yoruba 21%, Igbo (Ibo) 18%, Ijaw 10%, Kanuri 4%, Ibibio 3.5%, Tiv 2.5%.
You may confirm from Google.
Thanks!

This Issue had been source if Ethnic problem for decades,on Paper there is no such thing as Olu of warri rather the Olu of Itshekiri, its hard to change this name calling on street so this will take time. The history as to the ownership of warri si clearly stated in some online Blog, would try and get you reference if i could, the core warri is largely owned by the Urhobos.I don't want to derail this page so I suggest you wait or rather look for a page on NL that is dedicated to that resolve.

But who owns it

The Uhrobo are a sub division of the Yoruba people.

they bear names like

Irikefe

Odafe
Ojanomare

Uhrobo people are a descendant of the benin city people who descendant from Oduduwa

The Uhrobo people are separated by large river niger from the ijaw people. who now immigrate and ijaw who are from bayelsa state

Are the Urohbos really the largest tribe in Delta state and the 5th largest in Nigeria? I could be wrong but I thought we have more Ibibios than Urohbos? Even in Deta state, Are there more Urohbos than Delta-Igbo's?

Yes. We have the numerical strength of well over 4million. That aside, the Delta Igbos don't have a singular identity. They usually claim independence from one another because of politics unlike the Urhobos that stand as one. That's another reason we are more than them. As for the Ibibios, it is contested but I think a proper census can answer that question.

I'm adamant that the population of Nigeria cannot be the 170million as being postulated. The population lie has been there a long time and it will be difficult to have a correct figure obviously because of its political advantage.I think Nigeria will be between 120-140million now.
Which is the largest groups? I believe the Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo and Kanuri are in that order and then the Fulani,Efik-Ibiobio, Tiv, Gbagyi and then Ijaw.
I think the eastern Yoruba, I mean from Ife to Ekiti and Ondo states and Edo-Yorubas were the same with the Bini and Urobo, Isoko in a pre-ife kingdom known as UGBO(Not the same with Ibo that transformed to Igbo today)There were three waves of civilizations and kingdoms in Yoruba history, of these the Ugbo(still being associated with Ikale and Ilaje today predates Ife of Oduduwa where Obatala was the titled king which would fit in as a contemporary of the Owas of Ekiti.Let me leave this for now.
The Urhobo are quite energetic and expressive. They have made great impacts in entertainments and in Nigeria.I believe they will be in the same country with the Edo and Uoruba if there is a turn in Nigeria history

Good day my people

I lived in Warri for years around post office off okere

Now the question I bask and ask is who really own Warri

Is it urhobo or itshekiri
. I am thinking its itshekiri because of Olu thing
But urhobo is spoken more

So who owns that town

I will create a thread to answer this question soon. I'd be sure to mention u there. For now, think of warri as a no man's land. Everyone in Warri Is a migrant. However the real question is who's the oldest and who has more influence.? However, the itsekiris claim warri to be their traditional home. Urhobos and Ijaws do not agree. I will resolve this in a post worthy of being in the front page tomorrow.

Am Proud of my Father's Land.
Just that there are a couple of things the Uhrobo race is still fighting with.
1) The men's insatiable taste for women
2) Its Taboos. Had to go close to my step mom then so as to learn most of its cultures and taboos. Believe me most of the taboos made me cringe.
3) Most uhrobo's i have met don't really like helping there own brother(s) (mybe its the few ones i have associated with)
4) They tend to always believe that every problem they go tru is as a result of a friend or families witchcraft also called Oora.
Just to name a few
