Ebonyians are not igbos but the issue is that we imposed Igbo on them and they are happy answering that and defending the course even more than others.

ANAMBRA’S POLITICAL NEOPHYTES AND THEIR ENDLESS PRIMEVAL COMPARISONS

I almost thought we have passed this backward reasonability till these recent waves of absurdity hit us again like thunderbolt from the same usual quarters. Was it that Nwa Okeke has yet to master fully the art of barbing or should we cast the entire blame on the poor barbing blade? I use to believe, yes, I strongly accept as true that we have passed that age of counting road constructions, flyovers, neon streetlights as great achievement of any govt if such govt has yet to touch/empower positively the lives of its indigenes. However, the recent wave of comparison which lame opinion molders, their gullible followers and mischief makers have brought to the online community is something to ponder about.

This archaic evaluation was introduced to Anambra then by Sen Dr Chris Ngige and his handlers in late 2010 when Ex Governor Peter Obi was seeking second tenure in office. Dr Chris Ngige and his vain marketers laid claims on almost all the projects executed by his successor HE Peter Obi. It was so difficult then to disprove, bearing in mind that most of the projects initiated by Dr Chris Ngige while leveraging on a stolen mandate was not completed before the tribunal threw him out of Agu Awka. HE Peter Obi made a promise to Ndi Anambra that he will complete Dr Chris Ngige abandoned projects and he never failed which was also reason the former has the audacity to claim them as his projects. That was how this third world politics of comparison crept into our beloved state. Well, worthy of note is this; Dr Chris Ngige failed woefully with all his I did this, did that claims and so any politician banking on comparison to win Anambra votes will fail like the founders! If you doubt me ask HE Peter Obi and Dr Osaeloke Obaze why they failed in 2017.

In late 2014 after HE Peter Obi ported to PDP, his online attack dogs initiated the use of stones thrown at them by Dr. Chris Ngige and they haul it with reckless abandon against their paymaster’s successor! Yeah! HE Peter Obi was a smart political schemer though he has yet to reap positively from that. At the eve of his handover to Governor Chief Willie Obiano; HE Peter Obi initiated projects amounting to 100s of billions in Naira without flagging off any. Why did he do that? Because he wanted all projects in Governor Willie Obiano’s first tenure to be 97% his initiatives. But Governor Willie Obiano is not a financial manager in vain. He was intelligent and smart. Immediately he assumed office, he has his plans at his finger tips and while he undertook to complete HE Peter Obi’s abandon projects, he was strategic enough to initiate his own developmental innovations and take on them side by side with predecessor’s piles of abandoned projects.

The above reason was why his Ebonyi and Enugu counterparts were nowhere in the map of developmental performance in the 1st 3years in the office till lately. Gov Obiano during his 1st one year has security, youth empowerment, agriculture, investment and wealth creation aside road constructions, rural electrifications and community development. When Gov Obiano was bursting kidnappers, sacking arm robbers, working on Awka flyovers, rural road networks, and making Anambra safest investors destination where was those they compare with him today? Most of them have to come, bow and learn from the Master Strategist!

I have nothing against Ebonyi or Enugu State governors but it is lame to compare the amazing works Governor Obiano has done in Anambra with a flyover, few township roads being done in Abakaliki. Is there any community in Anambra today where we have no completed govt infrastructural initiatives of Obiano’s administration? Can the same thing be said of Ebonyi State? In the last 5 years. How many new investors has the Ebonyi state govt attracted? What is actually wrong with my people? The progress of every govt should be measured by the number of their people they have empowered and never by number of roads and bridges constructed! But if we must count roads and count bridges aside flyovers then you can take it to the bank from me that Ebonyi state cannot even measure to developmental efforts of Governor Willie Obiano in one senatorial zone in Anambra State.

The last 5years of Governor Willie Obiano’s administration has seen the highest number of youth participation in politics. In the same last 5years more indigenous and international investors has considered Anambra as their choicest haven for investment (Note that many of these efforts have both short term and long term manifestation). In the whole federation, Anambra was among the first 5 states with highest employment opportunities. Yes! Many Anambra indigenes have returned from North, West and abroad to come and settle down in Anambra. Tell me if this can be true of Ebonyi state? I can tell you that in the last 5years there has been more influx of Ebonyi State indigenes into my village, I am not talking about Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi and other parts of Anambra! So where is the much acclaimed development or progress in Ebonyi if the indigenes still find it tough to make ends meet in their beloved? Obugodulu na fa talu okpa nkita? I tell you that every Ebonyi indigene in Lagos, Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi, North, etc have this passion to return home and invest. But is Gov Umahi giving then that option ka aku luo uno? I guess not yet!

It is sheer wickedness then, primitive and backwardness to compare what Governor Willie Obiano has achieved in the last 5years with the awakening that is taking place in Ebonyi (yes! Awakening because it started a year or two back). Think of Anambra before Gov Willie Obiano, Anambra in the last 5years and find the very reason why every Anambra indigenes irrespective of your political affiliations must stand by our performing Governor Akpokuodike Aguleri and give him every necessary support to complete his enormous task of making Anambra the true Light of the Nation! We have forgotten so soon that former governor Peter Obi’s political romance with GEJ/PDP during his 8years tenure could not give us 2nd Niger Bridge, Awka/Onitsha Expressway was then a death trap. Most of us that are truthful to their conscience can testify the transformation happening at that once death-trapped road and the reality of works ongoing at the 2nd Niger Bridge! All these are credits to Gov Willie Obiano’s unity, peace, progress and prosperity in diversity initiatives!

Many including myself, have wondered why there were sharp increase in hotels, clubs, parks, bars and many enjoyment investments in Anambra as of recent? I come to realize that many residents of Enugu, Owerri, Ebonyi and Abia now come to Anambra to enjoy life because they are at the danger of being kidnapped, robbed or even killed if they cruise around their home state! There are also lots of foreign investors who troupe to Anambra daily to negotiate with state govt investment agency for their respective investment slots. Just few days back I googled (Farms in Anambra) and was amazed with the results that popped up. I found out that Anambra Central alone has more than 200 mechanized farmers aside Anambra North which is considered the food basket of the state. No wonder nobody talk nomore of the famous Abakiliki Rice. No! Why would we need Abakiliki Rice when we have Anambra Rice, Ayamelum Rice, Cosharis Rice etc.

So my people enough of those lame comparisons! If you want to compare an excellent performer Gov Chief Willie Obiano with Gov David Umahi of Ebonyi state please try also to add; how many employment opportunities has Ebonyi State govt created, how many investors has he attracted, how many rural electrification projects has he completed, how many villages in Ebonyi has access to road, how many youths of Ebonyi are involved in politics…. The last one I knew was Afikpo Chic (Maria Ude Nwachi) who recently lost last to PDP candidate. How many lives has Gov David Umahi touched? Let’s leave Awka and Abakiliki…. Which other area in Ebonyi State was touched developmentally by the Gov Dave Umahi govt?

Know ye not that Governor Willie Obiano have counted the 177 communities in Anambra State with multiple community projects? Don’t you know that the same Willingly Working Willie Obiano has visited all the 21 local govt with projects respectively? What a terrible assessment, pairing a national and international performer with someone that just woke up from a deep slumber! It is like comparing sleep with death…. Tufiakwa! What I see is that our youth today has memory deficiency syndrome; hence their comparing His Excellency Willie Obiano that has started performing from his first day in office with someone that woke from coma about a year or two ago!

I was referring to the same document he posted from which he posited that Anambra is the 2nd least indebted state. Why didn't he add the debts together before saying that Anambra is the 2nd least indebted state? Go and look up the pictures first before writing further.
