You climb the umpteenth mountain,
you arrive at the foot of a hill,
but looming still,
ahead and across the sea,
is the place you want to be;
Beyond the horizon,
the place of respite,
lasting quiet and lacking despite,
a place of dreams and fantasy bringing,
the mere thought of which always sends you singing.
No matter how hard you try,
no matter what you do,
you never seem to get close enough.
Yet,
that does not render the destination non existent,
only depends on your persevering extent.
That little step you take,
those big leaps you make,
never seemed to take you a step,
the destination was just as far.
And nothing seemed to make a difference,
and nothing ever will.
Because, there is no place,
nothing,
no one,
beyond the horizon.
