LagosShia:

how did you know they were "mostly" muslims? why did you not say they were all muslims? therefore if you're yourself saying "most" (meaning not all were muslims) then why am i lying to state a similar possibility?

i have also explained to you that history records no conquest or arab military presence in sub-saharan africa to spread Islam.history holds that islam in sub-saharan africa and south-east asia spread peacefully without any conquest or resistance put up by the local populations.

as for punishment for slavery,i have answered you previous and even stated the punishment:

I disagree with the bolded. I hope you're still active to respond.

Sudan for example was conquered by the muslim military and established a caliphate.

Egypt was also Islamized through conquest.

The main point is, there's no where the Quran condemned slavery even in the so call Hadiths, it encourages slavery and how slaves should be managed by their masters. Slave trade is justified in the Quran/dogma.

Empiree, how far?
It is very normal. Even Allah's messenger was a slave trader. What is the big deal?

Kai. Islam and slavery
Trying to resurrect dead threads are you?
From what I've read through of previous posts is that no one is denying that slave trade did have a hand in the spread of Islam in sub saharan African and what is now known as Nigeria, but the opponents are claiming that Islam only spread through slave trade exclusively or by Arabian military actions which is untrue and a very one dimensional view as to conform with their antagonistic impression of Islam.
Islam came to the Hausa lands through material and probably slave trade initially and the later jihad of Usman Dan Fodio and creation of the Sokoto caliphate which arguably caused the conversation of other groups or tribes to Islam either out of free will, social pressure, for social benefits, fear of prosecution, probable threat of death e.t.c.
Both Islam and Christianity have questionable history as to how they spread into the African continent. So let's curb our confirmation bias and we can't accurately confirm some of this stuff or change sh!t that happened hundreds of years ago.

I like your honesty. You and usermane are the honest Muslims I've come across when it comes to Islamic discussion.

I am not sure if I should be flattered or worried that I'm being classed together with user.name (whom doesn't call himself a Muslim anymore).
I'm just tired of seeing people (especially we Muslims myself included) present weak or narrow points and arguments that's all.

Userman.e hasn't openly deny being a Muslim, maybe I've not come across any, I still see him as a Muslim, a moderate or heretic.

I like how you give your own opinion with honesty and not always being apologetic on everything. Keep it up.

Yes. The world belongs to Allah and his messenger; whoever he wills he gave Mohammed as a slave.

Allah is beneficent and merciful.

We are saying the same thing.

It is your muslim brethren that are denying the slave trade.

If you remove your bias against me, you would see that we are on the same page. Educate your Muslim brethren.

Probably the most honest response I have seen from a Muslim on this issue.
