"FLAVOUR N'ABANIA STOLE OUR SONG" - GHANAIAN ARTISTES
Threatens Court action.

Ghanaian music duo Wutah may sue Nigerian music artiste popularly known as Flavour N'abania real name Chinedu Okoli for allegedly stealing their intellectual property.

According to Ghana's myjoyfm news, managers of the Ghanaian artistes are not pleased with Flavours recently released 'Kwarikwa' song which they claim bears stark resemblance with their smash hit 'Kotosa'.

They also accused Flavour of ‘stealing’ the chorus, rhythm, rhyme and the opening saxophone beat used in their song with total disregard for their right as the only legitimate owners of the song. The group Wutah is made up of Wutah Kobby and Wutah PV

Their hit song Kotosa dominated the Ghanaian airwaves in 2008 before the two parted ways in 2010, while Kwarikwa was released mid 2011 – though it's video featuring Fally Ipupa was just released a couple of weeks back.

Wutah Kobby was quoted as saying that, "we are consulting our legal advisers and we will pursue him [Flavour] in the right way.”

This will not be the first time Ghanaian artistes have accused Flavour of stealing their intellectual property. It was once reported that Flavour's hit song 'Ashawo' which gained massive recognition across Africa and Ghana, was stolen from an old Ghanaian hi-life song.

Ironically, Flavour had recorded his original version of the Ashawo track with some Ghanaian artistes, Stone of music duo Bradez, and Asem. It was Flavour's solo remix version tagged 'Nwa baby' that blew up the charts.

I never knew Rex Lawson was Ghanaian!!***wink***

Ghananian artists wan feed on Flavour. cheesy
ha akuola aka na tipper bu aja. grin
The two songs no resemble at all save for the opening saxophone. They deserves our pity sha. Hunger-induced desperation. They should beg Flavour for some financial help instead of falling mugu for some hungry laywers and letting them to feed on the little money they are using to smoke garri.

I don't get it. "Kwarikwa" is an Igbo slang, so what's the connection with their own song?? Abi do they now speak Igbo in Ghana?. Rubbish

I love the Wutah song. Weren't they the same group that split up two years ago?

I can't see much clear copying sha. It could have influenced Flavour's but most music writers are hardly totally original without influences.
Re: Ghanaian Artistes To Sue Flavour N'abania Over Song Theft by Mortiple(m): 11:17am On Aug 15, 2012
Truth be told, the two songs are similar! Many Naija artists are intellectual property thieves who scavenge on the songs of other artists from within and outside, that many of us are not exposed to, only to change the lyrics and produce. Lazy things!!!

Flavour came to limelight through late Cardinal Rex Lawson's hit song "Ashawo". I do not reckon him as a musician.

For this nonsense to stop, the government should criminalize it. Many of these copy cats are smiling to the bank whereas the owners/beneficiaries of these intellectual property are wallowing in penury.

If the likes of Rex Lawson, Osadebe, Victor Uwaifo, etc had not produced original songs, probably we wouldn't be listening to anything today.
