I agree with you absoltely.
@poster. You can't just sit down at home and say that you don't believe in this or that. Go out and see for you self.
I have watched several documentaries.
There was a particular house that was said to be haunted. These set of scientists set hidden cameras in the room. At night, they saw chairs and tables moving in an empty room.
I don't know whether you've watched psychic detective before. These are facts that certain things which you would call superstition.
There's a graveyard in England where tourist have claimed to see ghosts who later vanished. A lady gave a vivid discription of a ghost she saw. It was discovered that it was Charles Dickens. I've watched quite a lot of documentaries and I've encountered certain things. If you want to know whether these things exist, go out and explore.
was that your first time of seeing chair and table move in the movies?

cuteonyii: yes superstition fades away as generation passes by because people came to reilase how unreal those believes are. The only people who tend to clinch on voodoo are the under developed countries who has refused to develope mentally, academically, technologically, and morally.

They hold onto these things because there is an industry surrounding it with all sorts feeding off it. From the common native doctor, palm reader, all the way up to the powerful bishop. It also favours the white man that we behave this way.

How many of you did the Leke Leke give me white finger(water finger) thingy ? Just saw my little nephew doing it today and it reminds me of those days when i did it too. And then after a few mins or waggling and twisting your hands upon and down as if u are wading away the air, you'll be rewarded with this white spot on your nails. Please who can explain the theory behind this leke leke thing. Because that stuff still works. Saw a white spot on my nephew's nail after singing the leke leke song with his hand going up and down.

It has examples of things that you'd consider "impossible".

things like what? Same people sharing same kind of ideology ? Still in Africa , Nigeria , ? Still same poor clueless group of people. All those stuff on the thread are not news to me. I was born and raised in Nigeria over 30 yrs of my life. I have seen it all. Head it all. Yet there are all nothing but deceit.

The fact that you're saying these things means that you haven't seen it all nor have you heard it all. This world that we are in is wide, strange, and inexplicable.

No human being can use his/her short lifespan to explain the mysterious things of this earth that have existed for ages immemorial. There are surely forces that we can't witness through our eyes.

Those that think they know everything are the ones that will be surprised the most.
Re: Do You Believe In These Superstitions? by Kobojunkie: 4:41am On Aug 27, 2012
odumchi: All of those things you listed are very possible.

In 2010, there was a man in Aba called Osisikwankwu who was given (by a native doctor) the ability to disappear whenever he touched a certain type of plant. He used his ability to wreak havoc until his death at the hands of the Nigerian army.

In pre-colonial times, warriors would get heavily fortified before they went to war. This fortification would allow them to be impervious to stab wounds or gun shots.

Power is found everywhere in this world. There is nothing that's impossible under the sun.

QUESTION: Did you see Osisikwankwu disappear or did you hear people tell you that he did?

If you did not see him disappear, you are doing just what the @Poster sai, and that is spreading stories that you have no proof of just because of your African mind there.

That the world is wide, strange and inexplicable is NO REASON to then MAKE STORIES up. Making up Stories, stories that no one has, after so many hundreds of years, proof of, is not sensible. If you cannot show at least 2 reasonable(not your typical uneducated illiterate)people who have witnessed something and have record of evidence of it, DO NOT GO AROUND SPREADING SUCH STORIES AS FACTS.

I was in Abia state the year that that happened. Aba was shook due Osisankwu's kidnapping spree and the situation got so bad that people abandoned parts of the city and the army was called in. I clearly remember my grandmother handing me the newspaper titled "Osisikwankwu killed by army".

And let me just ask you this, were your there when Jesus turned water into wine or did people tell you that he did?

If the world thought like this, then progress would be impossible. Like I said earlier, not everything in this world can be explained by humans because we aren't intelligent enough to do so.

A mere two hundred years ago, people said that flying was impossible; now look at today.

Let me ask you, were you there when Jesus was born? How are you sure that he existed?

The eyes allow us to see only part of what exists. If a man was born blind then how is he to believe anything if seeing is believing?

what is wrong with africans? when will we wake up from this slumber and face the reality of science and technology.

like i said before, i do not want us to divert the topic by going into the scripture because that will be a different argument altogether.

Bros, you do not have idea how far other developed countries have gone in exploring things that we thought are imaginable in this life.

which people said flying was impossible in 200 years ago? left for Africans, no one would have tried the experiment The wright Brothers tried in 1899. people who see far and beyond knew that it is possible to imitate the birds. All they were doing is doing research on the principle behind the ability of an object being able to fly in the air.

If you refuse to be educated by people who are enlightened, you will continue to wonder in your African shrine mentality...
may be you should tell me how old you are..
It is said that a traveller is more knowledgable than a gray haired man..
Do not be jealous that i know ABCD which has set me free from the bondage of African voodoo and juju believe mentality.
you can choose to join me or still yet continue with your blindness and keep chasing shadow..

The problem with all this is that you are trying to provide an answer and explanation to everything, which is impossible. If your eyes weren't working, I'm sure you wouldn't believe anything.

200 years ago (1812), no one could've dreamed that people would be flying along with their belongings in the sky across oceans, seas, and mountains.

I asked a legitimate question because it's the same principle she (Kobojunkie) attempted to use on me.

Were any of you there happened when the Ice Age occurred or did someone tell you about it?

Were you there when Jesus turned water into wine or did you hear about it? Can you explain water being turned into wine?

lmao, i doubt if u're truly a traveler....save me d bullsh*t, dear

d fact that I'm speaking pidgin English doesn't mean I'm not enlightened

In shut, what I'm trying to tell you is that supernatural existence argument on paper is dumb

The truth is you don't know if there is a supernatural realm or not

Science cannot prove or disprove that either

So shut up!!

I'm only telling u to go in search of knowledge.....Why don't u just go and see 4 urself if it's superstition.

You are educated rit?? Research shouldn't be strange to you..........

LMAO @ UR LAST LINE.....U ARE VERY YOUNG, MY CHILD

But then again ignorance is bliss, in fact i'll rather u believe it's all superstition

All those things happen but your question will be how does their end look like. I dont believe in these things because i carry the GREATEST POWER inside of me <i am talking about the power of JESUS> THAT neutralizes all other magic. I have seen people that their magic failed. I know of a man that worships and serves his 'chi' he died like a rat, despite all his magic. I STILL STAND AND BELEIVE THAT JESUS IS THE MOST POWERFUL!!! I am a living witness

Guys, I have been pondering over some of our beliefs. The whole voodoo-juju thingy raises more question than it answers:
1. Juju or voodoo to kill enemies? But I don't really get this, Britian raided the ancient Benin kingdom with canons and muskets. Why didn't Benin juju destroy the colonialists?

2. Money ritual? A dude puffs and huffs on the stage. Calls out the afflicted. Lays hand on them to heal their soul. Few months later the dude is rich. Builds a bigger stage. Money ritual or a con artist?

3. Voodoo/ Juju invisibility charm? Really? Then other nations should have been at our feet begging for this power. No need to trouble Britain for Assange holed up at Ecuadorian embassy... Just send a Nigerian with juju charm to disappear into the embassy and whack the dude.

Am not the fetish type neither am i a religious freak but i myself know that somethings happen in these world of ours that defy explanation.
So back to the posters question all those things sure can happen, even albert einstein agreed that there was a power that he himself knows exist but could not explain, this powers had been mastered by our ancestors for centuries, but when the whitemen came with theirs they could offer explanations for their every single act making us to believe it was science but my dear N landers i can here tell you that science and vodoo are but one and the same thing but just packaged differently
