Ceremonial music (rokon fada) is performed as a status symbol, and musicians are generally chosen for political reasons as opposed to musical ones. Ceremonial music can be heard at the weekly sara, a statement of authority by the emir which takes place every Thursday evening.

Rural folk music includes styles that accompany the young girls' asauwara dance and the bòòríí or Bori religion both well known for their music. It has been brought as far north as Tripoli, Libya by trans-Saharan trade. The bòòríí cult features trance music, played by calabash, lute or fiddle.

If you mean what I know , then don't worry.

What/how are your relations with kanuri?

Also were Hausa the first victim of the fulani JIHAD?,or others ethnicities had been islamized before you, what I'm trying to know is if the the Hausa participated in the JIHAD that expelled my people from their original land.

Come to think why is that Hausa didn't leave their original land instead of being islamized(fulanized) , I mean you people were enough powerful and numerous to occupy another land(actual states). My people did that we lost but refused to b fulanized

and now for my REAL people, MY PEOPLE ! cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

MAGUZAWA HAUSSA!!!!!!!

Maguzawa, the animist Hausa religion, was practiced extensively before Islam. In the more remote areas of Hausaland Maguzawa has remained fully intact, but as one gets closer to more urban areas it almost totally disappears. It often includes the sacrifice of animals for personal ends, it is thought of as illegitimate to practice Maguzawa magic for harm. What remains in more populous areas is a “cult of spirit possession” known as Bori which still holds the old religion's elements of animism and magic.

In Kano, for example, where the Hausa culture has its cradle, the main point of worship was a god called "Tsinbirbira", whose shrine was on top of a hill called "Dala" where Barbushe acted as the enforcer of Tsinbirbira's rules, as well as the chief of the people. The main occupation of the people was blacksmithing and the only place to dig for iron and bronze was the Dala Hill. So it can be seen how Tsinbirbira came to be object of worship. Barbushe, the representative of Tsinbirbira was believed to be a great hunter who could kill an elephant single handed and carry it on his shoulders as a sacrifice to his god. The people at first always gathered and lived in caves around the hill but later dispersed as a result of rapid population increase and the fear of Tsinbirbira's wrath and anger.

THE MAGUZAWA HAVE MANY GODS, called ÏSKA (WINDS/FORCES) these affect the changes in circumstances.

Recent research into the older Hausa traditional religion has shown that certain acts of worship and beliefs related to the “Sun” (rana) are most likely to be the early religion of the true Hausas; it was later polluted or overthrown by bori devotees due to mixing with islam, though the main idea remained intact. An enquiry into the issues of this early traditional religion would give us a good picture of the early ancestors living in Hausa land and of the early Hausa settlement of the Hausa land(s).

Kanuri are our neighbours. They were owners of the Kanem-Bornu Empire. Mostly traders today. They are Chadic Sahelian like us.
They are descended from the old Sayfawa clan dynasty.

Because we were settled . we were in a state of relaxation. We were heavily into agriculture and to an extent, hunting and other fine arts. we had completely neglected the Army or conquest. we never really fought or invaded any of our neighbours seriously. we were concentrating more on progress, enterprise, city building ,etc.

Another factor is that islam was forced down our throats. we were concidered as apostates. in your case you were never muslims. we were muslims for sometime. you see? and the Fulani came to settle. its like colonisation all over again.

We were in the same situation bro , hence our defeats.

I'm quite confused, you mean there were Hausa Muslims before the fulani invasions/JIHAD?

The way I understand it is your leaders were pro Islam after all and the battles were for the control of the land and against the invasions but not really to fight against Islam/islamization

Islam was forced too, we fought and lost just like but instead of crossing our hands , we flee to another regions.

So were you foot soldiers in others JIHAD? Did Hausa join fulani armies?

The thing is that many Nigerians generalize, they don't even realize that majority of Boko Haram isn't Hausa or Fulani but Kanuri. Most Southern Nigerians could care less, to them Hausa, Fulani, Touareg, Kanuri are all the same. That is pure naivety.
You can blame them, being that the most if not the only visible position which these groups have been identified with and which they used to sell or perpetrate themselves and the region has been nothing but common Islamic Heritage, infact it is presented in such a way that nothing else matters to them in that region except Islam even if everybody is starving. ( Not necessarily food)

@ op you are truly an intellectual, infact you have done a very serious research before you can post all you have posted, and you did all this just to promote your culture and to enlighten Nigerians and not because of any selfish gain.My guy i salute your patrotism, because what you have posted is enough to right 400 level project on tribes and cultures of northen nigerian. More power to your elbow.
Re: The "REAL" Hausa by KDULAR: 5:48pm On May 09, 2013
I must confess that I am really elated at what I ve been reading so far about the history and the culture so far that is at least devoid of foreign religious influence and knowing about another culture in its beautiful untainted and innocent self. truly foreign religion ( from the middle east ) has caused us serious damage but it's not too late, though. I believe and worship God.

shocked shocked wow that is very rare a complete dinosaur which has not been worked on by a museum, most dinosaur skeletal structures in museums are not from the same animal, usually even not all(complete dinosaur) real, a part might be added if missing like toes or ribs, which I doubt this man has the funds to do unless he has a complete real set as he has here.
