Revealedtv: Its funny people say she was the first woman to drive a car in Nigeria as though the north could have been considered as "states" at the time. Everything was happening in Lagos, Calabar and one or two places in the east. The other states didnt really exist..."She was the first woman to drive a car in the Western Region" *My Opinion*
O boy ebe like say. Na bad belle dey do you or you smoke igbo too. The history has been there before you were born. Beside, how many people could afford cars back then?seems You do not know much about the Kuti family.

haba fatai or whatever must everytin be about rice and beans. apparently u wasnt born even before Fela's death , so i pardon you for not seeing the import of this story. The Kuti family are actually a great family in Nigeria begining with mama Kuti an activist for women rights, Fela the great music legend, Beko the medical doctor turned activist who fought the military junta to a standstill, to renowned prof of medicine and former health minister olikoye, all of this great people just from one woman, fatai i honestly think this cry is worth far more than ten trailers of rice and beans

dude you have a caustic tongue....why will she be classified as the first woman driver in nigeria??her classification should be in the western region..not nigeria as a whole...whoever gave her that appellation is daft and obviously never relied on any statistics....on what basis was she crowned the first female driver in nigeria??what indices did they use??

N.B...dont throw insults ma way man...you sure don't wanna get on ma bad side..answer the question maturely or STFU.

Why are U taking it personally, women in those days are not encouraged to drive because it was perceived as men activity. A woman achieving that kind of feat is easily recognisable because there were limited number of people that own cars then which explain the reason why there was no need for compilation of statistical data to arrive at the answer Just like it is widely accepted that Alice Huyley Ramsey was the first woman to drive car around USA in 1909 without statistics. You must know that when a woman achieve something like that, it is always publicised to encourage other women that they can do what men do too.

true talk jare....people talk as if there was a valid statistic used back then....
It is obvious u people have a problem and that is what is affecting u till today. Funmilayo was born in 1900 obviously before Nigeria was amalgamated. How many bicycle were available then. She became educated and married a priest, so was emlightened, that was what helped her to do so many things like training 3 great children and prof Wole Soyinka(the only nobel laurette in Nigeria. You cannot argue it because then there few bicycle let alone cars. They did not also learn cars on d field and street as we do now then. I think the Igbo people need to admit that we Yorubas are not just proud but history has always shown that we are more enlightened and sophisticated than other tribes. We are the ones training others. Take it or leave it.

Based on ur tot n opinion... If no other woman in d city of Lagos then could not drive a car except her, so where in dis part of Nigeria then could drive?? Moreso, back then west is d most civilized region in d entire Nigeria... Let's leave sentiments and face reality. Aside that, even up till today, north will not give their woman priority over there men... Same as igbo's that call their husbands daddy. Am sorry never mean to insult igbos but just a reality that must be said.
