For me, I was a christian and I married a devout christian Lady. My goal as a husband is to make my wife, and by extension my family, happy. As a result I do not try to force my belief system on anyone let alone my wife, and when I give her money I do not bother my head on minute by minute detail on how she spent 'her` money. The money she is prolly paying tithe on is her money, even tho it may have come from me, therefore I dont need to loose sleep over her paying tithe. However, if she takes my personal money or money needed to keep the hosehold and she throws it arround to enrich one demigod in the cladding of a pastor then there will be trouble.

Am a staunch Atheist happily married to a christian, i really wouldn't mind if my partner pays tithe in her church with my money, i mean, it is like 'if my partner is an anti-cigarette and i use her money to buy cigarette, all that necessarily matters here is UNDERSTANDING. there are things i compromise 'as the father of the family' by ignoring, as if it doesn't really matter, all for the happiness of the family. whenever an issue arises that would come between me and my wife, i take the position of a father/husband first. however, there is a limitation to the amount my wife has access to, not only to avoid her tithing with big amount but also to avoid spending extravagantly.

I am not married but if I marry a christian, she can use her money to tithe or her share of the joint account to tithe.


However, if she tithes with my own share of the money, we will have to have the talk!


I dont think I can ver reach this stage with my wife because before we get married, I will discuss my atheist view on religion with her.

One interesting thin about my view/stand on religion is that those around me always get unrestrained with my ideas and reasoning, my wife is a christian but have lived with me for some time now, she is beginning to see things the way they are and not the other way round, though it takes time to completely shake off the religious dust from the brainwashed.
personally, i see this generation of religionists as victims and i try to approach them accordingly. if you are the bread winner of the family, trying to authoritatively prevent your partner from practicing what she has been made to believe from childhood could be very difficult and challenging, a smarter persuasion technique is needed.

She uses my money to pay her tithe am very sure, I don't care since she doesn't have an idea of how much i earn, she knows am a big earner but doesn't really know exactly how much i earn, since she is not my wife she is contented with what ever i give her and she uses out of it to pay her tithe. If marry a christian she is free to use her money to pay her tithe, but she can't use my money.

She had better not.
In my opinion, money given to a church is money wasted.

After, they will say that atheists are intolerant. If it was a christian/muslim's wife/girlfriend that was tithing to traditional religions or paganism or babalawos, many of them will kill their wives

I got a very disappointing broadcast message from my mom the other day, something about agents of darkness having a meeting because Jesus is about to come and rapture his people. Some ignorant Nigerians in India tell me the weather here is so hot because God is punishing them for not worshipping him.... its like this spirtual lego that keeps fitting in more delusional and irrational pieces and most believe this sincerely. I believe that patience and a little respect for their delusions is one way to unshackle their minds..

UK time is either the same or 1hr ahead of naija depending on daylight saving. Its almost d same.

Ok. Now that I have heard from a few, here is my story.

Abt 2yrs ago, My wife wrote a cheque of N150k to her church as tithe. She did this behind my back cos she knew I would scream murder.

When I found out, I went ballistic. I was soooooo angry. Angry at the thought of having my hard earned money end of in the pocket a lazy fraudster living very large on the hard earnings of others. I felt like a victim of a robbery. Honestly, I was so enraged that I wanted to go and ask for my money back. lol. That would have probably made front page news of a tabloid, but I could not care.

I had bills to pay, kid's school fees to pay, aged and needy relatives to take of, so the thought of giving N150k to a pentecostal fraudster was just mind numbing for me.

I went through a whole series of emotions.
First, I huffed and puffed like big bad wolf and almost blew my house down.
Then I spat fire like a dragon.
Then I wanted to do like lucifer and declare war in heaven.lol.
Finally, I settled to do like Abacha, I declared marshal law,suspended our domestic constitution, imposed a dusk to dawn curfew, and then arrogated all
domestic Financial powers to myself.

He he he.

I would rather give all my resources to charities or even the catholic church, than to throw away a hard earned penny to a pentecostal pulpit p.imp to buy more bling blings.

@ OP - I've been married to a christian for 2yrs now, she pays all her church offerings, tithes, vows, etc. with my hard earned money as am the bread winner of the house. this has been a head-ache to me as an atheist, the big illusion here is that she believes am doing well in business because of the money/tithe she gives to the church. i dont want anything that would bring misunderstanding/conflict in my marriage so i try to make do with it.
