Security agents bar Ribadu from Aso Rock

THE Presidency appears to have shut its doors against the outgoing Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, with security operatives attached to the Presidential Villa denying him direct access to the seat of power.

Mallam Ribadu, in his first public reaction to his removal as EFCC boss, said last night that he was ready for the nine-month course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Plateau State.

However, the EFCC’s Director of Operations, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, and other police officers attached to the commission have shunned summons by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Mike Okiro, for a meeting on the latest development in the anti-graft agency.

Several attempts by Mallam Ribadu to have direct access to the President in the last few days have been rebuffed by the President’s men who insist that his requests be channelled through the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).

Presidency sources told Vanguard yesterday that the thinking in the Villa was that Ribadu’s nomination for the NIPSS senior management course had been unduly politicised and was already assuming a blackmail dimension, hence the President had decided not to get involved.

The President’s Special Adviser on Communications, Mr Segun Adeniyi, could not be reached to comment on the issue yesterday.

Several calls to his phone lines were unsuccessful. Sources said the president who is an advocate of due process and believer in the rule of law no longer wants to entertain the issue of Mallam Ribadu being discussed with him.

“Since the issue is becoming a blackmail, the president is not ready to bulge. You knowthe president, he is one man that believes in doing things according to the rule of law and since the police authorities felt that Ribadu is due for training, he has to go,” sources said.

Investigation revealed that access by Mallam Ribadu to the president has been furtherrestrained with the president’s seal of approval for his course at NIPSS

I still don't see what is the BIG DEAL behind all this false publication by the media and BIGFOOL AKA BIGB1

RIBADU is still an AIG and can go to ASO ROCK if he wants to,  dude stop all this ballistic post about RIBADU.

The only person happy about the posting is IBB, and we all know his posting is temporary.  RIBADU will be back and well equipped to fight corruption.

My new year resolution is to speak less of IBB but you keep pushing your luck BIGB1

Of course he can go there the same way EHINDERO was just there last night.

Right?

Absolutely on point!

If we want to move forward, we must also follow the rule of law.
It is that simple!

Many Nigerians today struggle in corporate environments because most of my people truly do not understand the true meaning and function of hierarchy arrangement.

We are all used to illegal Possession of power (magomago society and OBJism)!

Wake up guys, Nigeria is finally heading toward the right direction!

Big B1,

Have you read this

Ribadu At The Villa
Posted by admin on 2008/1/4 17:05:15 (1020 reads)
Malam Nuhu Ribadu, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, visited Aso Rock today, to parley with President Umaru Yar’Adua.

His appearance at the Villa today rubbished earlier reports in some Nigerian A.M. newspapers that Malam Ribadu had been denied access to the Presidency.

Ribadu spent some time with President Yar’Adua. He came with a file, apparently to brief the President on the work of his Commission.

Ribadu will be proceeding to Kuru, Jos, to attend a nine-month programme at the Institute of Strategic Studies.

While away, Ibrahim Lamorde will run the EFCC.

Yes, with the consent of his boss!

Pay attention!

BigBi1,

Am definitely sure someone is confused here. Which of his Boss are you referring to? His direct Boss is The President. From the info I referred you to, I do not see anywhere the word consent was mentioned. But please remember that if you want to come to my house, courtesy demands that you inform me. The bottom line is that you started a thread that says Ribadu is not wlecome at Aso Rock. Now you are contradicting yourself that its with his Boss's consent. Your thread did not give an iota of inverted comma, or comma. What a confusion my friend. Do you think IBB, Atiku as so on can walk into Aso Rock without informing The President!!!!. I leave you with the answer. God Bless Nigeria. God Bless Ribadu.
Re: Ribadu Is No Longer Welcomed In Aso Rock (confirmed)! by kokoA(m): 8:09pm On Jan 04, 2008
who cares if ribadu visits aso rock or not. if ribadu as a police officer and is been asked to proceed on a course by his boss, any country abiding by the "RULE OF LAW" will welcome such development, as it will only boost the "super cop's" cv and understanding of police work. But in Nigeria, we suspect everything, haba!

Let us not be fooled by our so called lawyers who are only bordered about their pockets. Ribadu's presence at the efcc have really given nigerian lawyers jobs, so they are scared that his removal will affect their incomes, see your nieria?

kokoA,

Please ask BigB1 who cares if Ribadu visits Aso Rock or Not.  He started a thread that says Ribadu is not welcomed at Aso  Rock.  I have only simply pointed everyone to what I read that says otherwise.  His visit or not to Aso Rock is immaterial to me.  His work, dedication, honesty and integrity in serving Nigeria as a Police Officer is all I care about.  IBB served as President, all we ended up with is Looting and Embezzlement of Nigerians etstate/resources.  Ribadu served as the Chairman of the EFCC and what we saw is that his record of achievement is envied by the likes of IBB, Atiku, Umar, and the rest of the rogues that stole Nigerian Money.    They say he did his just with imperfection.  The role of IBB as President of Nigeria far over weighs the level Ribadu is serving.  The only legacy IBB left behind is that he depleted our resources  with "perfection" in company of the people like Umar and the rest of them.  History will not forgive them. There is no evidence on record that Ribadu stole our money.  But evidences abound that IBB, Atiku, Ibori denied all Nigerians what belong to them.  This is what Nigerians cares about and not whether Ribadu visits Aso Rock or not.

Is it only Ribadu that can fight corruption to a stand still in Nigeria? There are many better Ribadus if you care to know. I mean, what is so special about the police officer proceeding on a course as stipulated by the service he earns his living from?
Re: Ribadu Is No Longer Welcomed In Aso Rock (confirmed)! by debosky(m): 8:45pm On Jan 04, 2008
You miss the point my friend. . .He is currently not serving as a police officer, it is simply a ploy to get him out of the picture for now.

No one is against sending him on a 'course' ( I wonder what anyone learns from Kuru given Ehindero, Tafa and co went there - you know what they ended up doing) The issue is that there were far better ways of carrying it out without giving the strong impression that it is aimed at scuttling the prosecution of corrupt politicians.

Impression/Perception is very crucial in the fight against corruption, the government clearly bungled this 'training course' issue - it smacks of back room scheming and dealings to protect corrupt politicians. If you remove the head of an organisation right on the cusp of major prosecutions, what signal do you think it sends out? even Igbinedion is said to be returning to the country now that his 'enemy' has been knocked off.

Yes we all know that corruption fight goes beyond a man, but when underhanded moves are made to undermine the war through Aondoakaa's actions and then this. . .it is not beyond reason that suspicions will be raised. It will be extremely naive of you to think this is simply 'a police officer going on course'. If it was, the President would not need to be involved.

We may yet emerge stronger from this, after all no one knew of Ribadu before Atiku/Obj plucked him out of obscurity.

The manner in which BigB posts new threads on this Ribadu issue is startling - showing his deep hatred for the man and his activities. There is so much more that can be said about him, but if you want to know more, read his posts. That is the main thrust of my post on this thread, not on the Ribadu issue itself as much.

Not funny anymore; it is not fair and absolutely unacceptable for you to continue to tarnish my name.

I'm happy that with all your names calling, many still see my dedication and sincerity to see my Country, Nigeria fly high once again.
You need to apologize!
Re: Ribadu Is No Longer Welcomed In Aso Rock (confirmed)! by debosky(m): 8:49pm On Jan 04, 2008
I will NOT apologise BigB, your skulduggery and two-faced lies need to be exposed once and for all.

I am tired of playing coy as if your true intentions and loyalties are not known to me.

The people who see your 'dedication' are those still fooled by your flowery words, ala sheepskin on a wolf, in due time they will realise their folly.

Your subtle support for corruption unless it is fought 'excellently' meaning your corrupt cohorts get away with their loot privately cannot be hidden any longer.

Nigeria WILL fly high again, but it will be DESPITE Duplicitous people like yourself who speak from both sides of the mouth.

No point fighting brothers. Writing on nairaland alone is enough to prove that we all have love for our country and wish to see it grow, but our approachs may defer.

It's high time we forgot this Ribadu issue and face the true picture. What we should be doing now as Nigerians is to call for the appointment of another credible Nigerian to take over fom Ribadu. For me I will suggest Maj. Gen. Buhari, the former head of state ( this is another way of making him withdraw his petition against our president).  What do you guys think?

Again, you got it wrong.

I have nothing against the man, Ribadu. In fact, I admire his courage and dedication, and I wish him well!

What I'm against is selectivity justice.
I think this is an easy way to crumble a nation into dust.
War against corruption is a wonderful thing in Nigeria, but it must be fought equally and with absolute respect for the constitution of Nigeria without compromising the human rights of the citizens.

I'm also against Ribadu being guarded my the king of corruption (OBJ) and the unprofessionalism approach they've exercised through out their defective operations.
I feel that things could be done better; but one must first accept mistakes before an adjustment could be effectively implemented. Ribadu and his followers do not see things this way

I also feel that majority of the corrupt leaders continue to successfully  use Ribadu/ OBJ as an excuse, which is clearly preventing a successful out come in many occasions. Again, Ribadu and his followers do not see things this way.

Please, do not get things twisted; my love for the man, Ribadu remains incompressible.
I mean, how can one be happy for the down fall of another man? This is not normal and absolutely not my style.

FYI: I've only posted many topics regarding Ribadu to empower my points on how war against corruption in Nigeria was a joke and to send message to the foe e.g ONITSHA BOYS CLUB.

I will never hate another man.

This is a great idea.
In fact, after 4 years I think another reliable person needs to be given a chance.
It is not an honorary position; it's time to move on and witness what another Nigerian is capable of doing.

Ribadu's followers should go ahead and make him the permanent king of his village; and I assure you that Nigerians will not bother him for anything.
