Whether Home or Abroad wherever you come across a Nigeria you might be skeptical of their origin (usually place of birth). But as soon as you hear a Nigerian who grew up and have a better part of their life spent in Nigeria, you can easily tell from their use of words and pronunciation.

Below are some of the words and pronunciations used by Nigerians both within Nigeria and outside.

* I want to Drop : this is when they are making their intention know they want to alight from a bus, taxi or car.

* Where's my change : this is to show they are waiting to collect their balance after a purchase.

* God dey : they are expressing their dissapointment in an event or feel cheating.

* E go better : When they believe there's hope in a current situation they are presently not happy about.

Others are :
* Jumpig of queues

* Speaking in loud voice

* Rushing to take a train, cab or bus and also in a hurry to alight
.
* Talking for hours and shouting while making use of a public phone boot.

* Talking so loud on the Hotel hallway.

* The highest spender in clubs, bars, malls and event centre.

* the man that keeps talking aloud inside the cinema.

More to come soon.

Contrary to what you think, Nigerians behave well while abroad. The only way to know them is by their 'Nigerian-ish look'

With all modesty and humility, I have traveled to at least 16 countries both within Africa and Over seas and I will tell you I have personally witnessed more than 95% of the above listed points.

Nigerians are VERY Lousy (even while trying to talk gently). I have seen a situation where the hotel security called their team to come settle a scuffle on the walkway only to find out our fellow Nigerians were only cracking jokes and laughing. The white men thought 'we' were fighting.

I believe naijas are more well civilized in white men's countries I.e, UK, USA and Australia than fellow African countries.

If you want to know how nasty behaved Nigerians can be, go to Accra, Nairobi, Conakry, Dakar, and Jo'burg. You go fear fear!!!

True. Nigerians in a group could be quite noisy and lousy. I remember a friend and I were talking about tribalism in the presence of a white lady friend. After a while, she started trying to settle our 'fight' but we laughed and told her that we were discussing. Lol.

2 weeks ago was chatting up a very pretty babe in accra, just before we exchanged numbers my fellow naijas came in and started making noises (all eyes on them) they came to my table and we exchanged banters. Just for them to leave and the lady gave one foo*lish reason on how she will be the one to call me because she intends changing her number that weekend. Omo see as I almost throw table ontop my country boys head for spoiling show.

I can relate those points listed by OP to Lagosians. Not all Nigerians are generally like that but you are bound to pick up most of those traits if you`ve spent some time in Lasigidi.

Mr, but this thread is not romantic! This is just one example to identify a typical nigerian abroad!

I concur with you on this.
This traits are more profound with people who grew up in Lagos, Warri, Benin and maybe ibadan.

It might not appear Romantic but it will sure help our Nigerian ladies in the Us and Uk who always come screaming and crying that they can't seem to find Nigeria men to marry.
As soon as they can see any of the above traits even 1,000miles away, they can run to him and introduce themselves as a fellow Nigerian who is searching for a Nigerian husband.

i dont know about the weirdest ways to identify a nigerian but the ways i can identify nigerians overall here in the uk

nigerians always have a certain look to them, as ghanians and jamaicans do also, you can tell the difference between a jamaican and a nigerian but some people find it difficult to distinct ghanians and nigerians over here except for when someone is really dark they will assume they are from ghana, but wether a nigerian is born here in the UK or come from overseas you can always tell from their face

It is different identifying nigerians overall from Nigerians from abroad in the UK and nigerians who are born and raised in the uk

Ways I can identify a nigerian from abroad in the UK:

Their dress sense - I can identify a nigerian from abroad from their dress sense, when they go clubbing they always seem to wear blazers and tight trousers/jeans or as they call them skinny jeans, and they always have some sort of mowhawk hairstyle which looks absoloutely ridiculous, check out uk nigerian artists 2kriss to know what im talking about

Talking Loud and Aggressively
- When a nigerian from abroad is here in the uk when they are on the phone the whole world can hear their conversation, their is no such thing as them talking quitely, they are shouting on the phone in public to disturb everyone with their conversation, my mum is also another one who doesn't know how to talk quitely when shes talking to someone on the phone lol

And i noticed everything that is said sounds aggressive, even one girl that went to my university from abroad and i got her number, i couldn't stand her because everytime i tried to be funny and make jokes with her the way she replied always sounded so rude because of her tone of voice lol, i know she liked me and she used to call me all the time but i just couldn't take it lol

The smell of their clothes - There is always a distinct smell of food that they have on their clothes, i cant pin point what the exact food their clothes smells of but it is the same smell all the time, and i dont find it too pleasant either to be honest

I am not bashing nigerians from abroad who come to uk its the honest truth lol ask anyone grin

Concerning the smell of their cloths. I Wonder why people can't spend a few bucks on getting a cologne yet spent frivolously on some certain other items.

Most times it is the odour of the luggage.

Nigerians don't believe in colognes, roll-ons and body sprays, Air-fresheners, canfos and cupboard sprays.
The prefer moving around with the "dusty and damp smell" that emanates from their closets.

Nigerians have a certain look? Just like Chinese/asians have theres? Does that means we look alike to the chinese and other countries?

Well i don't believe that cos nigerians look varies. Some have big nose, flat nose, pointed nose, wide nose, big forehead, chubby and different heights unlike chinese with small eyes (always seems they are sleeping) short and fine hair. Besides ghanians and nigerians looks alike just that ghanians are more dark

I think the loud banters with friends on the Hotel hallway. But I have seriously started walking on it after one of my friends almost got arrested in Cyprus some months back.
