Dressing up once a week to attend their three “services” on Sabbath, multitudes breath a sigh of relief, convinced that they are “strong Christians” for once again having fulfilled their “duties to God.”
But yet, the burning question must be asked: Why do you “go to church”?

Are you in bondage to men and their teachings?

You might be quick to answer, “Absolutely not! I am not a follower of men. I go because of love for God, for His Church, and for hearing His Word preached.” Is this really the reason? And is there a chapter and verse for such a response? I didn't think so!!

okay, Let's ask some questions and see if we can bare the bones and expose this dreaded orthodox/pentecostal monster.

Or maybe you go there for some
other wrong reasons such as:


a) social pleasure and enjoyment : (Ah. Another day away from my chores!" )
b) sympathy : ("My husband/wife was mean to me the other day" )
c) pressure : ("...you must attend all of the services unless providentially hindered..." )
d) attention : ("Hmmm. I wonder if they will notice all the weight I lost?" )
e) friendship : ("I enjoy finding and making new friends" )
f) fear of man: (The Pastor says of himself, "...I am clothed with Divine Authority..)
g) receiving and/or dishing out the latest gossip : (Listen to this! hmmn.. Ada, You know what Amaka told me yesterday?)
h) dressing up : ("Honey. Will this color tie match my new shoes?" )
i) updating your connections : ( "Hey Mark Do you think you can provide me with more business contacts?" )
j) fear of being shunned : "Avoid all fellowship with Tom & Cindy. They have resigned from the Church." )
k) Hebrews 10:25 : "The Bible says do not forsake going to church!

Yes bro there are several I mean s-e-v-e-r-a-l scriptures that confirms the reasons that you earlier sited that people give for going to church.

I want to believe that you know that the term Zion according to scriptures is a spiritual place θf worship. Bro. the Lord expects His children to gather at a place to worship him and learn His ways. That is church and that IS the reason I go to church.

I go to church because my bible tells me to do so.

Hebrews 10:25.  not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

From that passage above we can see clearly that God doesn't want us to forsake the habit of meeting together.

The Bible, as stated above instructs us to be in relationship with other believers. If we are part of Christ's body, we will recognize our need to fit into the body of believers.

The church is the place where we come together to encourage one another as members of Christ's body. So that together we shall fulfill an important purpose on the Earth.

Also take a look at this other passage below.

Romans 12:5. ...so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
Here we can see that going to church is actually for our own good.

God want us in fellowship with other believers as stated in the first passage I put up. Therefore we need each other to grow up in the faith, to learn to serve, to love one another, and to practice forgiveness. And the only way to achieve all those given task is by going to church.


Finally,

For christians who are gradually giving the habit of going to church...you must know that when you give up on attending church, your spiritual life becomes at stake...why if you may ask?

It makes your body becomes dis united from the spirit of God. You become very confused about the doctrine of christ, you begin to doubt christ existence etc...this is because your spirit in suffering from spiritual malnutrition. And when you begin experiencing this signs, know that you're disconnected from the body of Christ.

Therefore the only way to cure yourself of this spiritual disease, is by going to church.
