You're lucky that I'm not world leader, because If I was I would ban all religions... Especially organized Religion. Religions have caused humanity great harm..

I would also ban many cultures.. Humans are ignorant and culture divides us even more.

You think everything is about ipods,and computers,televisions,and all those western nonsense.
The scientific principles behind the building of the ancient pyramids have been lost.
Up till today,no western technology have been able to replicate it, despite numerous trials.
Africa was the home of scientific and technological knowledge.Unfortunately we have lost these knowledge and settled for western crumbs..

My forefathers have passed down their culture, however in Nigeria, there are vast laws and restrictions against nomads like you saw recently in the events in Jos with Fulani herdsmen. The Fulani were relocated from Jos to elsewhere. Today, it seems Nigeria as a whole is against traditional culture and want people all behaving in a uniform manner. You can not change something that a group of people have been doing for thousands of years. Yet in Nigeria, they try to change it by force. Many nomadic Fulani are relocating from Nigeria to Niger, Cameroon, Chad and Central African republic. The problem is that only a few are standing up strong for the Fulanis rights in Nigeria which is a shame. Too many people are cowards in todays world.

I know about the Bush and Desert as it is my root, that can never be changed or taken away from me. Why do you think I make all these forum posts to preserve traditional culture? It is my own way of spreading the message to fellow Nigerians to stand up for their countryman. Although, I know most non-Northerners hate us Fulani people. I can see it all over this forum. "Aboki this, Aboki that"

"You Arab wannabe this" "you extremist that" Fulani people are treated with no respect in Nigeria (as it shows on the forum). If I am the sole representative of my people then let it be so. I am proud of my culture, my tradition and heritage hence the name. I could have easily called myself something else like PulloGorko198 which means the exact same thing as Fulaman198 but in Fulfulde. I wanted everyone to know that I'm a Fulani so that I can see the reactions of others in this forum. Most have been negative, however it is refreshing to see some non-Northerners who are very open-minded and caring like Ileke and PhysicsQED who are not trying to start ethnic conflicts and are open to other cultures.

Religion in a way is a way of life, but it is not the same as culture.

Would you expect an Ethiopian Orthodox Christian to behave like an American Christian? absolutely not, they are totally different. Sure, I don't drink because Muslims are not suppossed to drink alcohol, however, I still practice finatawa (which means tradition in Fulani languages). Everytime I wake up in the morning I sing at least one song in Fulfulde so that all can hear and some may join, some may not, I give thanks to God and that I'm happy to be alive and awake. I am 28 years old, but you never know when you will die in this world, so it is always important to give thanks to God. No matter what ones faith or background is loving God is important. I learned that it is important for man to love his fellow man from heroes I grew up listening to as a child like Ali Farka Toure. I would listen to all his Fulani songs from Mali as a child about injustice, education, love, etc. These same songs have helped shape me into the man I am today and the man I still want to become. I will look at a Christian, an Atheist, a pagan, etc. etc. as my brother and sister. Who am I to say X is better than Y, I am a nobody. All I am is this Fulani man behind a computer typing stuff.

I am very worried about African cultures and traditions dissappearing. As a Fulani man, this is the #1 thing talked about in all Fulani meetings all over Africa (KJPF - Kawtal Jangoobe Pulaar Fulfulde), the dissipation of African cultures in favour of European/Arab imposed cultures.

I can not forget that I am a 3rd generation settled Mbororo my grandfather was a true herdsman who did what he could for his family, I may not be as great of a man as him, but I won't give up on my people. The blood of the herdsman flows strong however, Westernized behaviour in Nigeria has stopped most Nigerian Fulani from cattle herding. As you have seen in recent events in Jos, they have relocated a lot of the Fulani people who are nomads and trying to maintain their culture. Many Fulani have since left Nigeria to Cameroon, Niger and Chad to continue their nomadic ways.

I am here for the preservation of African culture because at the rate Westerners want it and Westernized Africans want it, traditional culture will cease to exist in the next 50 years. Things like the Gerewol will no longer take place because Westerners and Westernized Africans think it is acceptable for traditional cultures to be removed. As long as their is breathe and life in this young body, I will not give up fighting for those who are proud to be African. The song I linked earlier talked about these problems in Africa, and wishes for an Africa with peace and unity.

As others who have lived before me, like Ali Farka Toure, Ahmadu Ahidjo, Thomas Sankara, Ahmadu Bello, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Abubukar Tafewa Balewa, heroes who have all passed, I will do what I can to live their dream as a young man, to bring peace throughout Africa, to help those cultures who wish to remain who they are, and not forced to concede into something they are not. The world is a harsh place and needs people to stand up for those who can not stand up for themselves. I will not disappoint my forefathers.
