What is d significance of hair being d glory of d woman...i understand woman being d glory of man to an extent but dt of hair puzzles me.

Firstly, imagine a woman without hair on her head, (just skin).

The hair of a woman has always been considered one of the most prominent and important aspects of her physical appearance.

Also because of its high level of attraction, it is one of the first features that we notice about them. Therefore let us discuss what the Bible says about hair and it being the glory of man.

1 Corinthians 11:14-15 Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given to her for a covering.

Now compare it to this passage.

Deuteronomy 21:11-14. If you notice among the captives a beautiful woman and are attracted to her, you may take her as your wife. 12 Bring her into your home and have her shave her head, trim her nails 13 and put aside the clothes she was wearing when captured. After she has lived in your house and mourned her father and mother for a full month, then you may go to her and be her husband and she shall be your wife. 14 If you are not pleased with her, let her go wherever she wishes. You must not sell her or treat her as a slave, since you have dishonored her.

Now from the first passage, her hair is considered as a glory because of the long covering and how enticing it looks when a man beholds it.

The second passage explains why her hair is a glory to the man...and that is because she hasn't been taken captive and humbled according to Old Testament practices of the law.

So from the two passage we can say that a woman glory is in her hair...and she looses it the moment she shaves it off.

Simples. Whatever covers the top part of anything is termed a 'crown'. The hair is the crown on your head. Crown signifies glory. Thus, the statement.

@ATMC, It is a spiritual principle that has just carried on to the physical, but it's true significance is in it's spiritual impact. The head is the seat of authority and will, so a woman covering her head either with long hair or head-cover signifies that she is deferring to the man, she has no "authority" of her own. This is why societies are naturally patriarchal and it's values defined by men. She is the glory of the man means she "empowers" him & brings him wealth/fruits/reputation. You can rate the "statue" of a man by the women around him. Therefore the manner of women in a society is a testimony("glory") of the values of it's men. This is why a woman should not be an apostle, prophet, evangelist, teacher & pastor to decide spiritual rules. Anybody who does otherwise is simply practicing false doctrine.

You have posted this in my thread, i requested that you give a clear biblical verses to back it up, am yet to see ur reply. I am very interested in knowing the truth in all angle, so please try and continue with ur enlighten comments. the Thread is (a Pastor wrote this to me) I await your reply thank you.
