Quite frankly i think its time these network providers start understanding that this their issh with sms advertisements are getting a tat too much.

I usually get sms alerts from them on one thing or the other that i did not subscribe too. Take Glo for instant and their 07702 4040(wonder why they did not leave it at 404). theses numbers have been a constant itch on my backside for sometime now, particularly when i just load my phone with credit. Sometimes its like i just load a Glo recharge vouch and Bam -Hello- 07702 or 077028 is calling and asking me if i would like some beauty tips(Like say i be chick)for N100, Press 1 to confirm or 2 to cancel. They forgot to tell me that end call button follow for the buttons way de confirm the service.

The worst of the bunch is the 5471 number from Glo. Imagine I am busy enjoying my sleep around 2Am and my phone starts ringing, thinking i had a call from someone important"maybe something serious happened". In a drowsy sleep mode i blind myself with my phone lights and peek at the now, its a text message from 5471898708, which reads "I looking to make friend, u luv", to which i promptly reply "Your father there thunder fire you".

Well you all get the picture.

I now really have to ask, does anyone know the unsubscribe codes for all these useless messages and calls that our network providers are giving us.

Yep...it's really annoying to be woke up at 2am by a phone call or text massage which u later discovered that it's from Advert Agency...... Many GSM subscribers having complaining this new trend.... I once over heard some guru explaining to some one that there is a barring code u can use to prevent unwanted callers or SMSes from coming into line..... Make a research about it i believe it's possible.

I think mine is the worse case scenerio. I was using my airtel sim without any problem, but then as time goes on, it got damaged cos it kept on telling me to insert simcard every now and then. So I decided to do a welcome back on thursday. When I slot in the new simcard, I started getting messages from a sender:CH(50) to register my simcard. My People, as I am telling you this, I do get atleast 300 SMSes in a day from CH(50) to register my Simcard. This is no joke. It's just very annoying to be receiving same sms every ten or 15 minutes. It drains my battery. I had to put my SMS notification on silence in order to reduce the annoyance. I called the customer care but they'll tell me to hold that they're going to run a check on my line, only for them to hang up after some time. I've tried all sorts of SMS blocker apps but to no avail, some only work when there is internet service, and once if data connection isn't available, the messages will begin to troop in again. Please if any one out there have a possible solution to this, I'll greatly appreciate. Thanks.

If you use a smart phone, this can be handled easily with SMS/call blockers.
When I used Blackberry I handled it with Call Control for Blackberry.

Now on Android I use Go SMS pro to screen SMS.
Just long press on the sms and the menu pops up, select, "Add to blacklist".

You can also use the stock SMS app. Long press on the message to get the menu, select "Register number as spam" and confirm.

For Calls from those funny Glo and Airtel numbers, you can use 3rd party apps from Play Store e.g. Call Control for Android. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flexaspect.android.everycallcontrol&hl=en).
Just Add the numbers to blacklist and turn on blacklist function, then you can sleep all night. cool

You can also blacklist numbers with your default call/contact app on Android.
Long press on any number and select "Add to reject list".

Enjoy.

I had this problem when I was using Android 2.3 gingerbread. I'm using kitkat now and I can't figure out where to locate the settings.
Normally, you go to ur sms setting and disable cell broadcast. But I couldn't locate cell broadcast on kitkat.
I read somewhere, someone is suggesting using a nokia phone to do it. That's moving ur simcard to a nokia phone and go to:

Setting>Phone Setting>Cell
info Display>Off

Then move back ur simcard to ur Android.
I don't know if it's going to work cos I've not tried it, but you may give it a try, may be it'll work.
