FIWC13 is live! The FIFA Interactive World Cup 2013 kicked off on Monday 1 of this month with the first of six online qualification seasons.

Over the past few days football gaming enthusiasts from all over the world have been getting to grips with EA SPORTS™ FIFA 13, honing their skills on the recently released game in the hopes of putting in a virtual performance worthy of qualification for the FIFA Interactive World Cup 2013 Grand Final. By the end of October, two players will have joined defending champion Alfonso Ramos at the Grand Final. Good luck to all our FIWC13 hopefuls in the opening season.

HOW TO PLAY AND

Are you keen to test your EA SPORTS™ FIFA 13 skills against thousands of competitors from around the world? Then join us for another exciting edition of the FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC)!

All the information you need to register for the FIFA Interactive World Cup 2013 can be found below. (Please note that the in-game FIWC option in EA SPORTS™ FIFA 13 is only available during the course of the six online seasons, the dates for which can be found under the 'How To Play' section.)

All you need to take part in the FIWC13 is a PlayStation3®, a copy of EA SPORTS™ FIFA 13, an internet connection and an EA online account.

If you have not yet played FIFA 13 online and have no EA Online Account, simply follow the steps below.

To set up an EA Online account

In EA SPORTS™ FIFA 13, select 'Register with EA' from the main menu.
Accept the terms and conditions.
Read the information on data protection and confirm to continue the registration process.
On the 'EA Online Account Creation' page, enter and submit your personal details.
You are now registered with EA Online. Once you have registered successfully, you must complete the steps to register for the FIWC as outlined below.

If you have already played EA SPORTS™ FIFA 13 online, you will already have an EA Online account and should follow the steps below:

Registered EA Online members:

On the main menu, select 'Online Game Modes'.
'Select 'FIFA Interactive World Cup' from the menu.
On the registration page, enter your name and email address.
Your details will be verified on the following page.
Select your confederation/nationality.
This will lead you to the FIFA Interactive World Cup Centre. Whenever you select this mode, this will be your start-up screen.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT.
Make the most of your chance to qualify for the FIFA Interactive World Cup 2013 Grand Final. The FIWC13 champion will receive an invitation to the FIFA Ballon d'Or Gala and USD 20,000 in prize money. Online Qualification Seasons
A total of twelve players will qualify for the FIWC13 Grand Final from six online seasons held between October 2012 and March 2013. All matches for the FIWC13 online qualification seasons will be played over the PlayStation® network. Information on how to register for the online seasons can be found in the How to Play section.

Season duration
Each online season kicks off at 09:00 (GMT) on the first day of the respective month and finishes at 8:59 (GMT) on the first day of the next month. There will be no break between online seasons. Points will be automatically reset when a new online season kicks off (9 am GMT).

The objective is to finish in the top two on the season's leaderboard. Points will be automatically reset when a new online season kicks off. The top two gamers from each online season will secure tickets for the FIWC13 Grand Final. At the end of each season, your points total will revert to zero, ensuring everyone gets a fresh chance to qualify with every new season. You only have to register once to take part in all six seasons.

Territory Showdowns
Territory Showdowns will take place in England, Germany, France, Spain and Italy. The best three players from the online leaderboard from each respective country will be joined by last year's national champion in a live competition for a Grand Final seat. The winner from the previous year is granted a seat in the Territory Showdown final, whilst the remaining three players play two games each to battle it out for the remaining spot. Each Territory Showdown winner will be granted a seat at the FIFA Interactive World Cup 2013 Grand Final.
