Sure the Cardinals of all countries including Nigeria decide in the Selection of a new Pope. I guess we have about 4Cardinals in Nigeria now. All Cardinals 80yrs and below from every Nation has a say in the Catholic appointment of the Pope.

I think the Anglicans are beginning to wanna say something but the church is far Older and way past their suggestions. Its autonomy exists in England.

I think, we are bearing witness to how secular the British actually are! we thought church and state are separate entities. This looks like the Chinese set up, whjere the govt determines who becomes the Dai Lama and etc. Sometimes people aren't quite different as they tend to think.

Queen/King of England is the supreme leader of Church of England.(Anglican church). He/she is the equivalent of pope for the catholics.

He/She endorses the prime minister's recommendation of Archbishop of Canterbury. Below the archbishop of Canterbury comes the archbishop of York. Below archbishop of York comes Nigerians, the likes of Desmond Tutu etc.

Even if you don't understand some things and operate from ignorance, please furnish yourself with better understanding from the article/report. The system is that all countries are required by the church of England to make recommendations to the 16-member commission. So what is embarrasing?

1. I am not Catholic, but I do know all Parishes make recommendations in one way or the other. All Cardinals are part of the election process....
2. "Leave the British Anglican Alone"- I am persudaded to support you there. I think the mistake we made during the days of Akinola was to rescind/delay the decision to of Final sessession for the Church of England.

1. They don't know much and probably need some schooling in this area.
2. We are still part of Church of England in a way and we have a spiritual obligation to continue to pray, mediate and guide in all this..at least till we decide to finally leave them for good (if we so please)
3. Homosexuality is a seed we in the Church of Nigeria believe the devil has planted to destroy the church. We have not been pretencious with it, we have NEVER denied it and it is on record that no church has fought this battle in the world as much as the church of Nigeria. Unfortunately Homosexuality in the church has crept to all denominations. It's foolhardy to blame Catholics and Anglican.
