Reba: Hey Girl. Seriously ! You've GotTa Chill ! I ain't talking about 'What' or whatever !! All I asked was is that language in Namibia ? Cos U said 'AFRIKAANS' whatever !!! . So I thought it was some kind of language you are talking about ! But actually it is 'Dutch' !! And I can translate it if you want !! There you are ! : Reba: This is Dutch : And it means --- How does this go ? Reba: Jammer in dutch means -- Moan/Misery ! Reba: This in Dutch means --- What is your name ? ! Reba: This means joy is in you. Or summin like that. Something to do with 'Joy' -- that I am sure of ! Reba: And this means -- What makes summin ?? |

@ Z4M4EVA Yep! u rite at least sumone understands my language so do u speak dutch. When u speak afrikaans its like a kid learning how to speak dutch.like u said jammer means misery/moan in afrikaans we use it like "sorry" when u say "Ek is jammer" u mean "I am sorry" but its originated from dutch then they add english and german. |

Re: The Language Interpretation Game by Z4M4eva(f): 12:19pm On Apr 21, 2006 |
Reba: Exactly !!! I speak a little bit of Dutch. Yes ! I am still learning at 'Intermediate' level. We are all learning. That's why this thread is called ' The Language Interpretation Game'. That's what the thread is all about. People teach and learn languages. So no one is perfect. I said 'Jammer' means --- Moan/Misery in Dutch. For heaven's sake ! I didn't say in Afrikaans ! At least, Dutch and Afrikaans are different languages. So of course ! They are bound to have different meanings ! Reba: Gracias( Thank You ) at least, I know that now ! |
